Best artisan breads around! Whenever we are in Kittery, we stop by to grab a few loaves... Wonderful favors! They also freeze well!

This is the perfect spot if you come to visit When Pigs Fly Pizzeria restaurant! Either before or…read moreafter your meal and even better if you are told there is a wait for a table. That's exactly what happened for my wife and I, we were told it would be a 15 minute wait for our table. We came over and wanted to just browse around to spend that time doing something instead of just sitting. You'll find it to have an overall rustic vibe when you step inside. Typically for grocery shopping my wife and I will go to Hannaford and when we are feeling like grabbing some bread we always go with When Pigs Fly sourdough. The prices may be higher than some of the larger brands but the quality is far superior from When Pigs Fly. Having a piece of their usual sourdough or cinnamon raisin sourdough for breakfast with some butter or sunflower butter is a perfect addition to breakfast! Coming here to the company store was even better with many more options for flavors of sourdough including some seasonal loaves. We actually snagged a current seasonal they had which was Blueberry Raspberry Lemonade Bread. Bought it yesterday and had it for a delicious breakfast this morning! Will make some French toast with it later in the week as well! They have a variety of other items, some their brands and some other brands available for purchase as well! So even if you aren't feeling their bread check it out for the other things they sell. Also if you have not tried their bread and want to try before buying snag a sandwich at the restaurant and try before you buy at least one flavor of bread that is! Worth a stop along Route 1!

Such an awesome shop!…read more We popped in after grabbing food at their restaurant next door and were very impressed with the quality and selection being offered. From sourdoughs to really unique sweet and savory breads, it was really hard to make a decision! We went with a rustic loaf to bring home and enjoyed it all week long. I'll definitely make the stop again next time we are in town (and did I mention, they have free samples??).

The delightful scent of coffee was in the air and the staff were absolutely friendly as you approached the counter. Despite a buzz of patrons trickling in and ordering, the coffee was delivered to the table shortly after I sat. The staff obviously had a strong momentum going as I watched other tables being served just as quickly. Before I could even really start sipping on my piping hot Cafe Au Lait, I was served my salad and crepe. It was fun to watch how each person worked their station passionately. The lady preparing the crepes meticulously cleaned her station as she cooked. The staff on coffee were brewing away and sending cups out to diners. Other items were coming out from the back kitchen. They worked in unison like a well oiled machine. I definitely enjoyed my coffee. My salad was generous and hit the spot. The crepe was acceptable. Would I come back? Yeah, definitely my type of breakfast spot when visiting Portsmouth again. I definitely will try their croissants next time as well as check out their wine bar in the evenings!

I happened to be talking to my Mom before heading into town about this place & had wondered if it was still in business, she told me it was. Yippie! She also asked me to get her a popover. My friend's & I stopped in here so I could grab my Mom a popover. Since it was MSD it was busy & there was a small line but it moved quickly. I ordered a plan Popover for my Mom that came with a maple butter that Sand (took my order @ the register) told me that it was really good. My Mom enjoyed it. It was a good size & looked yummy! I also picked up a sugar cookie for myself that I carried around all day & due to the heat the frosting melted and my cookie got smushed but it was still pretty tasty. It was sweet but not too sweet. I'd love to go back for another one & eat it before I ruin it! LOL I also got a funfeti cupcake & found it to be very small & kinda dry. The frosting wasn't very sweet. I wouldn't get another cupcake as it's not worth the price ($3.46) or the taste. I used one of the unisex bathroom's while I was here which wasn't too bad for a busy MSD, but they had signs on the door that "bathrooms are for customers only" but I doubt they had any way to control the bathroom traffic. I still have $$$ left on my GC & will definitely be back to try something else & maybe even a popover! :-)
