Craft donuts that are a good size and not overly sweet. Also fritters and other delicious stuff. Staff is super friendly and always smiling. The inside is clean, neat and very cool decor. You can't eat just one haha!

Great experience! Super nice team greeted us explained the dairy free options for lattes and served us delightful donuts. Restaurant was clean and team was efficient.

5 stars because i love cakey donuts!! lol These reminded my of the Holy Donuts in Portland although they are not exactly the same of course. (I'll leave the comparison to you my dearest reader). We came in around 9:30am on a sunday and there were already early birds there (not just lovebirds ha!). I got their chocolate coconut and that would be my favorite! nice chocolate dough and a good balance of shredded coconut coating. The Apple cider was good too and surprising the original! Im never an "original" donut fan but the hubster wanted to try. It was soft but had some crisp to it and wasnt so bland so I appreciated that. Staff who took our order was nice and pleasant which made for a good day. Inside was spacious too and there was good parking space. There wasnt really a ton of flavor though but enough to enjoy a dozen or half and enough that I would actually miss having them again!

My husband and I stopped into Lovebirds on a whim and rather late in the morning (for donuts). There was a decent line but also still a good amount of flavors available. We ordered 2 donuts, 1 fritter, and 1 monkey bun. We found the cashier to be short and it was clear she didn't want to be there. The donuts were ok, a bit chewy but that is to be expected with brioche style donuts. The monkey bun was ok but again chewy and a bit too much cinnamon. The fritter was by far the best but needed more apples. Overall we found it to be blah and probably won't be back.

We made a cute stop on our roadtrip to this donut location and were very surprised and delighted to our sweet treats. We got a variety including Lavender Lemon, Cinnamon, cookie dough, blueberry fritter, and chocolate dipped brioche. They were all delicious but my favorite was the simple chocolates dipped brioche because it was so fluffy, and not too sweet. When a shop can execute a simple donut, they're good~ The gold and green latte were good but a tad too sweet and wish I got a smaller cup portion. Location smelled like sweets right outside the door with lots of bees around which was fitting for a sweet pastry shop. The staff was kind and prepared my latte when I arrived which was great because we arrived late for our pick up. I'm glad my latte wasn't melted sitting on the counter waiting for me to pick up. They prepared it when we arrived for pick up. Such a guilty pleasure~!

Rating: 4.3 We decided to try this place because one of my friend really like the place and was on our way to Maine. We ordered a head of time for pick up so we can pick it up on the way. We got lemon lavender, cinnamon sugar, chocolate glazed, ganache dipped, blueberry fritter, cookie butter cookie dough, green and gold iced tea Overall the donuts were pretty good. Personally I liked their brioche donuts better than other ones but there were none that I didn't like. The drink was okay and nothing special. Overall the place was good. The place is clean and spacious and service was decent. As you may expect donuts are very sweet and heavy so it's probably better to have just a few with coffee or tea. We got half dozen so we can try different kinds but felt a bit guilty afterwards. Would come stop by again if we are nearby and want some sweets.

Donut perfection. Hard to believe they're also vegan.

I've been chasing this high since my visit in April 2023. I brought a box home for my family after I tasted a Lovebird donut on a girls weekend in Maine. This weekend, I tried AGAIN to make a vegan donut at home. My kids said it was good, but not as good as that box of donuts you brought home that time. I see a 3 hour road trip in my future! You NAIL the texture- with EVERY flavor.

I love donut shops. I love seeing the flavors they offer and then trying to chase the flavor of best donuts. Lovebirds was super cute! Felt a little out of place in it's location. Felt very commercial for a small little town in Maine not near the real tourist area. Modern, lite and vibrant colors inside. I liked that when you first walk in there are all the donuts displayed in see through boxes to help you place your order but I can share it would be easier if that was toward the register. Also, they did not have it mapped out correctly that morning as I ordered a donut and as surprised when I opened the box it wasn't the donut in it's place on display in the store. It was in fact the correct flavor. Easy to order. Prices were comparable to other shops like this. The donuts: Glazed- good size, a full coat of glaze but I found it a little too sweet and would prefer it a little softer Sweet Potato marshmallow- harder than I would like, frosting broke off in hard pieces and the flavor was just not my jam Homie- your basic strawberry donut. Good flavor, good amount of frosting. This was the familys favorite Maple Puff- BOOM! Maple explosion in your mouth but way too sweet for my liking. (this was the one that was miscategorized that day)

I'm not a big donut gal, and I wasn't the one who picked these up for the house because I was yes, snoozing. BUT a review solely on taste and aesthetic - these donuts 1. Were beauteous 2. Everyone was obsessed with the scrumptiousness of them. The goat though... the maple donut with some sort of light cream in the middle was actually unbelievable and all four of them were gone in a milla second. Seems to be the donut SPOT in this area. Yum.

I had an appointment in the area this morning and got to finally try out Lovebirds. I love that they're vegan and GF, perfect for sharing with all the friends. Their stock was low due to the oncoming storm, but I was able to try the key lime donut. I was a little sad to devour it and find out it wasn't a filled donut, but the key lime frosting was still on point, and the brioche was wonderfully fluffy. They come out with special weekend flavors, including a creme brulee donut in early February. I unfortunately was out of town and missed out on that one but hopefully it will return soon so I can try it out!

A tasty stop, but definitely an Early Bird's game On our last two trips back to Connecticut from Ogunquit, my wife and I decided to stop at this donut shop, and while we enjoyed our visits, we're not sure if we'll make it a regular stop in the future. The donuts we tried--raspberry coconut, maple, and glazed brioche--were all quite tasty, with fresh flavors and a nice doughy-feel. However, we've found that by 11:00 AM, many of the donuts are already sold out, which was a bit disappointing, especially since it happened on both visits. My wife's iced coffee with cold foam had a good flavor, but the foam itself was more of a thin layer than the generous topping she was hoping for. All in all, while we appreciated the quality of what we did get, the limited selection later in the morning and the small issues with the coffee make us uncertain about whether we'll stop by again.

    Amazing Gluten Free donuts!

Ask the Community - Lovebirds Donuts

Looking for a cafe to get some work done. Would this place be work friendly ? Are there outlets to plug in a laptop?

Ordinarily, we are well equipped for remote work. However, we've made indoor seating temporarily unavailable during the pandemic. We anticipate adding seating again soon. Thanks for checking!

What kind of oil are these donuts fried in? (I know this is a question for the owners. I would like them to reply please.)

Hi! Because we take food safety and allergies seriously and because ingredients, allergens, and nutrition info can change over time, we prefer not to answer these kinds of questions on third-party sites where, once posted, information cannot be…

Are any of these donuts soy free?

While the donuts are free from dairy, egg, tree nuts, and peanuts, they contain soy.

That's exactly what happened for my wife and I, we were told it would be a 15 minute wait for our table. We came over and wanted to just browse around to spend that time doing something instead of just sitting. You'll find it to have an overall rustic vibe when you step inside. Typically for grocery shopping my wife and I will go to Hannaford and when we are feeling like grabbing some bread we always go with When Pigs Fly sourdough. The prices may be higher than some of the larger brands but the quality is far superior from When Pigs Fly. Having a piece of their usual sourdough or cinnamon raisin sourdough for breakfast with some butter or sunflower butter is a perfect addition to breakfast! Coming here to the company store was even better with many more options for flavors of sourdough including some seasonal loaves. We actually snagged a current seasonal they had which was Blueberry Raspberry Lemonade Bread. Bought it yesterday and had it for a delicious breakfast this morning! Will make some French toast with it later in the week as well! They have a variety of other items, some their brands and some other brands available for purchase as well! So even if you aren't feeling their bread check it out for the other things they sell. Also if you have not tried their bread and want to try before buying snag a sandwich at the restaurant and try before you buy at least one flavor of bread that is! Worth a stop along Route 1!

Plenty of lot parking so that's always a plus. We walked in on Friday for lunch and it was fairly full but we were seated quickly and orders taken. Very rustic ambience and service was quick. Unfortunately, the food was just ok and didn't knock my socks off. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, pork belly steam buns and the margherita pizza. Brussels were fried nicely but the ginger sesame sauce was very strong and I would probably preferred the sauce on the side. Pork belly buns were just ok as well. We were here for the pizza so were excited to try it - pizza unfortunately was just ok as well. Food is subjective and always based on preference so please take this review with a grain of salt - pizza was a bit doughier than I'd like - I prob should've asked for it to be well done if even possible and the sauce tasted heavy on the oregano - not something I'm a big fan of. All in all - not bad but not great. I just had such high expectations - maybe a different pizza might've changed my mind. But def don't skip out on going next door to try some samples and get some bread - the bread is amazingly delicious.

They have ugly sticks and the first time we saw that was many years ago after moving to York. The sticks are made from buttermilk batter and come in differing sugary coatings. People love those and they sell out fast. St Joes is known for its benes. The little beignet dough balls. We have never had them, but customers were coming in and ordering a dozen at a time, so I feel like these are very popular here. They also have a great selection of coffees and lattes. This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.

The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. Still giving 5 starts because it was so good and everyone was welcoming.
