This was our first stop in town from a long flight. We shared a coffee, an amazing thick breakfast sandwich (Betsy) and Bennies with blueberry as recommended by the staff. Everything was amazing. We live right down the street and haven't been here in many, many years. No particular reason. We just usually eat breakfast at home unless we're away or with guests. We stopped by after having to go someplace early as we did not have time for breakfast at home before we left. The location has changed a lot over the years. You still make your own coffee. Great coffee and I'm not much of a coffee drinker. They make specialty drinks themselves. More options of food. The sandwiches are really good and very filling. There's a place to sit at tables. Small non assuming cafe in the heart of York. They have a take- out window in the warm season. Today I ordered 3 breakfast sandwiches. They were substantially filled with cheese eggs and bacon and or sausage. I ordered chorizo on my sausage bagel sandwich. Everything is made to order. My sons said they really liked their sandwiches which were bacon egg and cheese on English. Most of the sandwiches are on the menu with homemade biscuit but we ordered with English muffin. They have ugly sticks and the first time we saw that was many years ago after moving to York. The sticks are made from buttermilk batter and come in differing sugary coatings. People love those and they sell out fast. St Joes is known for its benes. The little beignet dough balls. We have never had them, but customers were coming in and ordering a dozen at a time, so I feel like these are very popular here. They also have a great selection of coffees and lattes. Their prices are on par and reasonable. The staff were personable and friendly. There is a small area to sit inside although that fills up pretty quickly on a weekend. There is online ordering although, one of the staff told me they shut it down when they are really busy. Young people, old people (like me) all seemed to enjoy coming in here. I think St Joes has a large following and for good reason. I'll come again with my 13 yr old twins and try some of those benes soon. I had the egg and sausage sandwich and it was HUGE and very filling. Great flavors. Also had to try the Bennie's! So messy but so good. They offer different flavor dipping sauces - I chose maple cinnamon and it was really sweet but still really good. Drop Coffee was solid. We were staying at a local Inn, and needed a quick breakfast to begin our day's journey. We ordered 2 of the Ranchero breakfast sandwich, served on an English muffin. What a sandwich. While the food and coffee are both very good, there are a few things that could make the business a bit friendlier to customers. 1. The pre covid 2019 menu is still listed on the web site. Many items are no longer available. 2. The hours posted online in various places are incorrect: they are currently open til 1pm not 5pm and only wed-sun. 3. I ordered 6 different yet similar looking breakfast sandwiches today. No labels or any way to identify easily which was which were provided. All they need is a black marker. Whoever runs the business should try to keep these things as updated as possible. And order a black marker :) that said the food is so good I'll still return. read more

Wow! I stumbled upon this place while visiting Maine and it does not disappoint! Possibly my favorite finding in the quaint York. This place is known for their bennies (beignets), which are solid! Fluffy and delicious. I myself am not the biggest fan of sweets but would recommend trying. The kicker here = the breakfast sandwiches/biscuits. I am obsessed. I had the Lil Joe which was loaded with breakfast meats, the Three Hail Marys which is a delicious delicious spicy combo of ingredients, and the Chicken Biscuit which has their incredible tiger cream cheese. I loved them all! The biscuits were so fresh and delicious, wonderfully textured, just wow. All of the ingredients in the aforementioned sandwiches were otherwise delectable, good quality, and tasted fresh! Would recommend any and all of the above depending on your tastes. I also had a coffee which was solid. Tip: order ahead online if able. The cafe itself is relatively crowded with limited seating, so lots of people are standing around waiting for their orders. The wait was ~20-30 minutes for me at what I presume was a busy time (breakfast). The service was solid when I went, no complaints. There is parking on site. Swing by! Try the sandwiches/biscuits for sure, consider the bennies, and have a coffee while you're at it. I highly recommend this place! If I ever find myself back in York, I'll be returning. read more

This is actually a zero star review. The employees are rude and overworked. The Internet connection doesn't work. There are no outlets by any of the tables. I went to plug my phone in one of the outlets that has an old chair next to it. Inexplicably, the chair is broken and has no bottom, even though there's still a cushion on it. I crashed through it and injured my recently surgically repaired knee in the process. Either they don't know the chair is broken or they don't care. I think it's likely the latter. I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife. The day before we were scheduled to drive past St. Joe's, I read and article online about it being one of the 50 best coffee shops in the US. So of course we had to stop here and try the coffee and beignets. This location of St Joes is in a strip mall. The inside consisted of a large area for the workers and then a food bar to sit at facing out towards the road. There was also a second room full of tables and chairs but I didn't see much of it. My wife and I decided to split an order of the beignets (4) which comes with blueberry sauce and then I also ordered a latte. Within a short amount of time we had our drink and food and took it to one of the two outdoor tables to enjoy. The beignets here ended up being quite as they were light and fluffy and dusted with powdered sugar. However it was the blueberry dipping sauce which stole the show as it had a great blueberry flavor without being overly sweet which was a good thing with the powdered sugar on the beignets. As for the latte, it was decent but nothing special. I could taste both the coffee and the milk and had absolutely no trouble finishing it but it paled in comparison to the beignets. The bottom line for me is that I would stop back here again in the future. My coffee was decent and my wife and I both loved the blueberry dipping sauce and beignets. read more

This little shop is a not-so-hidden gem! It's set back from the road near some shops but the line out the door is a giveaway! These are the most delicious breakfast biscuits imaginable, and the coffee is super good, too. Service is quick and friendly, and there is limited seating inside. After I was finished riding in the area without anything to eat all day, I needed a good cup of coffee with something small, but tasty to eat, just enough until I got back to NH. I made a late afternoon stop at St. Joe's Coffee located across the street from Hannaford. I walked in here around 4:55PM and the place was about to close up around 5PM. I was greeted by the friendly staff and took a quick moment to decide what I wanted. St. Joe's Coffee offers several kinds of brewed Seacoast Coffee (hot or iced), espresso drinks, chai lattes, several tea blends (Portsmouth Tea Co), hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow, fresh squeezed OJ and homemade lemonade. This place is home of the Bennie which are deep fried dough balls covered in powdered sugar served with dipping sauce, plus they serve breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I decided on a large cup of dark roast coffee ($1.95) and a breakfast sandwich with egg, chorizo, sweet & spicy peppers, & American cheese on a buttermilk biscuit ($3.95). Though it was closing time, the grill was heated up and sandwich was prepared to order, with the egg, ingredients, and biscuits being grilled. I thanked the staff for making me a breakfast sandwich at closing time. It was not a problem at all since they enjoy what they do. The coffee was great and had a nice smooth flavor. The freshly prepared breakfast biscuit sandwich was just AMAZING and delicious, which tasted similar to a spicy sausage, peppers, & cheese omelet served on a semi sweet biscuit. This sandwich was way better than the sandwiches I've had at the other popular coffee places (Dunkins and the Bucks) which nuke their breakfast sandwiches. Could not recommend this place more!!!!! The biscuits are amazing and the breakfast sandwiches are large and beautiful and taste great!!! They didn't have inside seating yet when we visited (July 7/7/21) but there are pinching tables in the grass nearby, make sure you get an order of bennies!!! If you are placing an online order to time your arrival and pick up - don't bother. My online order was placed and paid for, however when I arrived - it was not only not ready, but wasn't being made. When the staff noticed me waiting for an order after fulfilling an entire cafe full of customers ahead of me - they then offered that I take someone else's sandwich (not my order, not the same order, had been sitting on the counter for 20 mins) instead. Then they said "we'll make the order again" as if somehow it was an inconvenience.
