Had to get a duct sealed due to the recent rains on a rooftop unit at a rental property of mine and was looking for a contractor that offered a good warranty on parts/labor. The work was satisfactory, with pictures shown of the repair. Quote process was fast and free. My reservations with Piggies involves the deposit and billing. I was told because it is a rental property that full payment of the work is required upfront. This was a bit of a red flag for me because 1) i'm the property owner so I'm not sure what difference it makes between a rental property and a primary residence. 2) This goes against the CA BPC aka illegal. The CA BPC 7159.5 states that downpayment of home improvement contracts should not exceed more than $1000 or 10% of the contract amount, whichever is less. When asked about this full up front payment (by the way, no estimate was signed or approved at this point), I was told there was some miscommunication about it and they no longer required the full payment upfront. After the contract was signed and work was completed, I ultimately just paid the full amount w/o a deposit in a one time payment. I considered not posting this review but I wanted to make sure other folks seeking home improvements are aware of the regulations surrounding deposits. Response to Ruben's response: I dont think the experience was flawless, hence not rating a 5 star. Everything was "OK" as a 3 star describes. The policy I was told regarding full, upfront payment on rentals had to come from somewhere (it's very specific language), and customers that do not know the law can easily be misled. Additionally, it was I that suggested we wait till after the rain stopped and the forecast was clear. Whomever I was working with offered to schedule it in between days of rain. When I asked, I was told it would take 24 hours for the sealant to set and I wanted to save Piggies from having a callback. All said and done, I'll raise this to a 4 star in good faith that this wont occur again. read more

It's always nerve racking having a company come out to the house that I don't know anything about other than Yelp reviews. Mark came out to look at my furnace to troubleshoot the abnormal sounds that occasionally occur. He ran some tests and gave me some suggestions. He did not try to sell me on anything and based on what I know from watching lots of HVAC Youtube videos he was on point. He talked to me more like a friend than a sales person. He was also here to give me an estimate on installing a whole house fan and attic fan. He verbally walked me through the installation process and his ideas aligned with my own visions on installation location. I needed a wall heater repaired. Normally I would fix it myself but I had already replaced the thermopile and it still wasn't working. The tech was polite friendly but not very knowledgeable. I felt I knew more than he did. He diagnosed the gas valve was bad and the thermostat also needed replacing. They came back with a $680 estimate which is high for what they said needed replacing. I decided to replace the thermostat myself. It works fine. I would have been glad to pay for him to replace that but didn't feel he was being honest with me. Maybe he just didn't know or he's dishonest. I don't really know but I do know Iwon't be calling Piggies again. read more

I sent out a request for a quote to replace a ventilation fan that I provided in my bathroom and Piggies was the first to respond to me. I told Ruben that I noticed there was no ducting connected to old fan and asked for an additional quote. Ruben dispatched Mark out and he arrived within 30 minutes. Mark gave a thorough and honest explanation of what will be needed and the time it'll take to install duct and the ventilation fan. He also said he was going to need to run out to the parts store to grab additional parts which is not a problem. Mark finished the job in less than the time he quoted me, but that's not the best part. The exceptional service not only came from him, but his team as well. Mark never had to go to a parts store because someone had dropped off the parts he needed. He also told me that he noticed my other bathroom fan doesn't have a duct connected to it which I'm sure no other company would bother mentioning. We had a dual zone mini split and insulation installed right before the summer. Ruben, the owner, was very competitive in pricing and we ended up doing both installs with Piggies. The mini splits have been amazing in our second story bedroom. We would often times sleep downstairs in our living room during hotter parts of the summer because the room wouldn't cool down and our central AC wouldn't maintain the temp on that floor. We are able to keep a lower temp through out the house because of the insulation and we sleep incredibly comfortably with the mini splits upstairs. Our central AC runs significantly less and we are much cooler than last couple of years. Ruben was very attentive and the work was done quickly. I am really happy that we went with Piggies Air Conditioning and Ruben. The pricing was competitive, but we also wanted to go with someone who was competent and capable.
