I love Pierogi Plus! I've gone a few times and each time the service and food was amazing. I've got the #3 Sampler Platter which has kielbasa and 4 pierogi with cooked onions and I loved it! It is consistently delicious and very fast service. I love the outdoor seating, it's nice to sit and enjoy the area around. This small business has been open for 31 years, and I can see why! Pulling up here feels like an old retro gas station repurposed as a cute mom and pop shop. The pierogies are delicious. Unfortunately you can only either buy small orders cold or microwaved but not sautéed/grilled. Mine were microwaved but they were still served to me very cold and oil-saturated. After one bite, I just took them home to dry them off a bit and sauté them. It was much better than the microwaved option offered to me, although I did pay for the convenience of dine-in food. We are new to the Pittsburgh area and wanted homemade pierogies. We checked Yelp and found Pierogies Plus. This is a take out only and there are different prices based on whether you order hot or cold Pierogies. We ordered the potato and cheese and potatoes and sauerkraut both hot. They come with diced onions and clarified margarine. The clarified margarine is a little bit disappointing because it lacks flavor but the Pierogies are absolutely THE BEST I ever had. I grew up with many churches near me in a very small town a few hours north of Pittsburgh so we would get homemade pierogies from neighbors or from one of the churches. Pierogies Plus serves the best pierogies! They made the pierogies with the right amount of dough and filling. They are delicious! They also have extra menu items like sandwiches and additional types of pierogies that need to be ordered in advance. The woman helping me said she hoped we would be back and I guarantee we will! I was so excited when my friend and I found this small business. You dine outside, but most people I saw took food home for the family. The cabbage rolls were the best I ever had along with the perogies. If you find yourself in Pittsburgh and craving some perogies, you have to go to Perogies Plus. Pierogies Plus has a take out window to put your order in during Covid. They also have a few small tables if people want to enjoy the food there. Due to the heat, they did not have any hot options, but that was fine. They had a first responder special, so we were able to get 2 dozen cheese and potato pierogis and apple pie dessert pierogis since my partner is law enforcement. Best pierogies in Pittsburgh. Clearly a place that has relied on its old world recipes to create perfect Polish food. The stuffed cabbages are my go-to, which perfectly textured cabbages stuffed with the absolute right blend of meat. This is essentially a lunch counter: you place your order, you leave. There are no public restrooms. You can choose to get your food hot or cold. A lot of people I observed order their food hot and eat in their cars. The hours are limited and the restaurant is notably closed on the weekends. I think the food is so good that the restaurant pretty much can make its own rules. I've only had the traditional pierogies but way more exotic flavors can be had if ordered in advance. This place is legendary for good reason. read more

Always ask the "locals" where they eat! I visited Pittsburgh last month after 10 years and couldn't wait to try some ethnic Polish food I remember my maternal Grandmother made when I visited. Oh my gosh. I'm not sure how this place slipped through the cracks on my to-do-list for so many years. I happened upon a BOGO pierogis coupon in the Enjoy book, so I decided to stop by for takeout dinner last week. This is a great option if you're still a bit uncomfortable with dining out, but do not feel like cooking dinner, or want something different, something unique, something Pittsburgh! Their outdoor takeout window is safe and touch less, and you're just interacting with one employee for your visit. It's going to get interesting in the winter months, but COVID safety is the top priority for me! The building is not open; you place your order either by phone or through the takeout window out front (which is what I chose). You can of course order hot food, but you can also order chilled pierogis and other items to finish on your own. I ordered the #1 special sampler, 1/2 dozen of hot sausage pierogis (hot), 1/2 dozen sauerkraut pierogis (hot), and a 1/2 lb of broccoli salad. The pierogis were just delicious - soft fresh dough with a mouthwatering filling, topped with buttery onions. It's just heaven. The stuffed cabbage was great and so comforting, but the meat could have been seasoned a bit more. The halushki was the best I've had. Reminiscent of church halushki during Lent. Yum!!! The broccoli salad was outstanding. Large pieces of fresh broccoli tossed with shredded cheddar cheese, real bacon bits, chopped onions, and a thick sweet/sour mayonnaise. I wish I had gotten more! Unfortunately I didn't even remember to take photos because when I opened the containers, I just ravaged all of the delicious Polish delights! I literally poked my friend's hand with a fork when they tried to have a bite of my stuffed cabbage. LOL! This place is tucked away in McKees Rocks, but it should not be passed up if you're a Pittsburgher, or someone with Polish/Hungarian/Czech/Slovak roots. I have been wanting to eat here for years but when I am in "the Burgh" I am often not near it. We ordered #1 sampler which has 4 potato pierogies, haluska and stuffed cabbage. They have a high bar because I make all 3 of them and mine are good. Huge amount of food, fed two of us and I still have left overs. And very good. Generally prefer other than the potato pierogies but that's what comes with the meal. Busy place even at 11. Reasonably priced. More of a takeout place. They package their good well. read more

We got them hot, so they came with onions and clarified margarine on top. Next time, we will get them cold, and make our own onion and butter sauce, as the margarine flavor doesn't appeal to us. We visited Pittsburgh for the first time. Our friends highly recommended Pierogies Plus. Boy, we're they right! Unfortunately, we didn't realize how quickly the hot pierogies sell out. We thought we could drive up an hour before they closed and order. Well, their hot poerogies sold out hours ago. We were determined to give this place a try. So, we did the next best thing... we ordered the cold pierogies to cook at home. We kept it simple. Plain, sauerkraut, sausage, and the onion sauce. I've long held this up as an example of peak Pittsburgh---not only are pierogies an iconic food for us, but the location is suitably bizarre, being in a former gas station at the crest of a hill on a winding 2-lane road that's actually a state highway. For an East End Elite (TM) like myself, places like this are part of that elusive "real Pittsburgh" that I can never really be part of. As for the actual pierogies---they're indeed very good, and they have a good variety of flavors that are uniformly tasty, but in comparison to a few other places (namely Cop Out and Forgotten Taste) the dough is too thick. For some people that might be a benefit, maybe you like that extra dough, but I personally found it a detriment. read more

It's a small, locally owned family run place that offers either pre packed to go items, or you can also order your food freshly made and eat at one of the outdoor tables.
