My friend and I ordered pickup from here since we are still on a stay at home order. Overall we had a decent experience - not the worst but not the best. Food - Don't get me wrong, the Gyro I had was amazing!!! I can't say the same for the fries.. Honestly I tried one and didn't eat any more because they were bland. But if you are into that you'd probably enjoy them. Service - The food was prepared quickly, but unfortunately they forgot to give us the drinks we paid for.. We didn't notice until we got home, but we didn't bother to call since we didn't feel like driving back to get them.

Horrible I mean beyond horrible...tastes like they fried it in rubbing alcohol....sooooooo pissed

HORRIBLE I repeat HORRIBLE! Never felt to slighted in my life involving takeout food. I stopped and ordered a gyro and falafel a hour ago. I got home and started to dig into the scrumptious smelling falafel and my tongue was immediately hit with the God aweful taste of either rubbing alcohol, fermented mouse droppings or some other taste that should not be on anyone's food. Whatever they fried my falafel in was obviously not supposed to be in there because I broke it apart and the inside tasted fine. My gyro was as basic as it gets from the place that claims to have the betb gyro in the city. You have no idea how bad I wanted to go back to the shop and curse out the owown in front all the customers he is scamming. I kind of felt someone was odd about him when I went in and could 5ell he didn't want to serve me anything but I shrugged it off. DO NOT ODER FROM HERE TRUST ME Update: just called the owner and he implied I did something to the food on my way home LMAO what a joke...then he says we'll the grease we use is old ... Well obviously it is along with something else your not admitting ‍

My colleagues and I had the immense privilege of visiting a hot local spot tonight: Forbes Gyro. Upon entering, I already knew we were in for a special treat. The décor inside was simple, but it was clear the restaurant was kept clean. The seating arrangements were aged like fine wine, and it was evident that they had been used often, indicating the location's popularity. We were greeted with a beaming smile from the location's proud owner, Jacob. He gleefully took our orders, and was quick to offer his pen when mine ran out of ink. That's just the kind of guy Jacob is. You know when you eat at Forbes Gyro that you're getting that famous Oakland hospitality that attracts students from all over the world. One issue that arose amongst my associates was the notable absence of individual slices of pizza on the menu, but you know what they say: never order pizza in a gyro place. Either way, the menu was somewhat unclear, and even lead to some confusion amongst the group as to what was offered. I ended up opting for the classic lamb gyro, which arrived in a timely manner. My gyro was wrapped in a soft warm pita, and was filled with the delectable combination of juicy lamb, fresh lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and just a pinch of onions. Drizzled throughout the gyro was what one can only assume to be homemade tzatziki sauce. The lamb was tender and well-seasoned. I was enjoying my experience until I opted to sample my colleague's fries. Much to my chagrin, the fries were rather bland as initially served. When paired with the authentic Greek salt offered at each table, the quality of the side dish improved significantly. All-in-all, Forbes Gyro was an unforgettable experience. My 45-minute expedition to the land of the Mediterranean ended abruptly when I stepped back out onto the mean streets of Oakland. Whether you are study the trends of the DOW, or spend your days examining the works of da Vinci, Forbes Gyro has just a little something for everyone.

Good gyros at a good price. After passing by this place everyday, I finally decided to go in and try it with a friend. We were surprised to find that the food tasted much better than the restaurant's decor suggested. I had the chicken gyro with pita. The meat was tasty, lettuce crunchy, and sauce was dripping on the table (sorry). The portions are also quite large (especially for the price) and I was VERY full by the time we finished.

One of the best gyro around south o people!! I was hesitant going into bc of some reviews, but the quality of this place proved them all wrong. The people who work there first of all are so kind. And the gyros are to die!! No meat overload to the point where it's too much, but they don't skimp either and the lamb is crisp and juicy. Pita is top quality, they also make them super quick and have to put in no time. Just the right amount of sauce too, and you just can't beat the price either. I was never a big Mediterranean/Greek eater before, but Forbes Gyro confirmed my love for the gyro scene!!

If you want your gyro on a pita make sure to ask for it.

Fantastic vibe in there as well, cool lighting (although something from up above kept falling). It's a highly acclaimed place for a reason. I got to try their beet soup (borscht), tea, potato pancake, and rice pudding dessert. The menu changes decently consistently I believe, and I did visit a little while ago, for notice. The food was very tasty. Huge potato pancake that was cooked perfectly with a nice topping of what I can only describe as vegan sour cream and some sort of very flavorful vegetables. I quite liked it, surprisingly tasty and creamy topping. Now the borscht, which I tend to be picky with, was just okay. The number one detractor for the borscht was the salt level. The food is just far, far too salty (the pancake was pretty salty too). Other than that, quite good. Love the side of rye. The dessert was very good. Surprisingly light. Came with a little caramelized baked fruit on top (apple/pear, something like that). Rice was reasonably creamy and very flavorful. So good! All in all, a nice spot for a nice dinner. Especially great for vegans. However, the food did taste too salty for my liking.

Every bite was incredibly fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced. I could happily eat this every day for the rest of my life. For entrées, we shared the veal saltimbocca, which was fork-tender with a beautifully rich sauce, and a light zucchini, corn, and shrimp pasta that tasted like summer on a plate. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". I was last at Point Brugge in April 2022, when the grub and warm welcome were well-worth the price. I'm not sure what has happened since then, but if my most recent experience is anything to go by, SERIOUS changes have to be undertaken at this once gem of Point Breeze for it to justify the equally serious price increases that have gone by since then. The food: BLAND and prepared without care for the customer. To start off, my companion and I both got the "soup du jour." It was tomato and onion cream. Completely mediocre and far too sweet. I could've bought a prepared soup at Trader Joe's of the same quality. For our mains, I got a $36 (!) salmon with fried veggies and lentils. The fish was OK (it's hard to wreck good salmon), but the veggies were positively DRIPPING in oil and the lentils were salted to all hell. I could not finish the latter. My companion ordered a $16 vegetable sandwich and specifically requested no red onions. Guess what? The sandwich and its side salad were chock-full of red onion slices. So much for customer service. The restaurant: GROSS. The remnants of mussels and other food items were LITTERED all over the floor of the "top" area of the restaurant. The walls are full of cracks; the paint is peeling; and where the drywall meets the floorboard, AVERT your gaze! Giant, gaping holes pepper the entire lower part of the wall, as if positively begging for a rodent infestation. How is this up to code? The service: UNFRIENDLY. I think we were served by the manager. He had sort of a strange attitude and cadence, and only asked us anything about the food BEFORE we had started eating the soups. Consider asking us after we've finished something? I think he was mad that I had only ordered a water. Sorry! Alcohol is bad for you, and I for one wasn't going to slurp down a sugary "mocktail" next to all those oily mushrooms. Next stop? UPMC Presby. Apart from him, the staff was underdressed and loud (although, for what it's worth, a bit friendlier). However, I prefer to know if I'm interacting with a paid employee or a freight train driver who has just gotten off a 16-hour-shift driving on the CSX mailine. I get it: nobody is expecting you to wear a tuxedo in 2026. But let's at least try to outdress the most casual of customers, no? Considering Point Brugge was once a place I took people from out-of-town to show off the East End, this is a sad, sad fall from grace. I will NOT be going back, and, as long as they don't get their act together, neither should you. Not in this economy. $36 oily azz mushrooms...
