    Dessert pierogies (Bavarian cream)
    Tiffany Y.

4.5 stars. Cop Out Pierogies was founded about a decade ago by the former police officer Carl. The restaurant serves pierogies in a variety of flavors: potato and cheese, potato and sauerkraut, sauerkraut, potato-cheese-jalapeno, macaroni and cheese, breakfast, buffalo chicken, cheeseburger, lekvar, chicken marsala, chicken parmesan, cottage cheese, gyro, sausage, pepperoni pizza, pepper but, potato-bacon-sauerkraut, reuben, shrimp-grits-bacon, spinach-feta, sweet potato, a few dessert flavors, etcetera. The restaurant also serves other Eastern European foods such as haluski, stuffed cabbage, potato pancakes, and Chrusciki cookies. Customers may order hot or frozen foods either in person or through the delivery website Insider Eats. I ordered several of Cop Out's foods through Insider Eats. The hot foods arrived hot, and the frozen foods arrived frozen. I thought that everything--the Polish potato pancakes, the haluski, the sauerkraut pierogies, the potato-cheese pierogies, the lekvar pierogies, and the Bavarian-cream pierogies--were very fresh and tasted very good. Three of my grandparents were Eastern European, so I grew up eating pierogies, haluski, and stuffed cabbage. I enjoy my family members' foods a bit more, but Cop Out's foods are a solid choice from a restaurant.

I grew up eating authentic PA pierogies, smother on the butter & onions- stuff with classic & unique ingredients-serve crisped & crunchy- so when visiting Pittsburg, I was excited to discover they were known for their pierogis- we had actually planned to dine at a different pierogi joint, but when we arrived we were dismayed by the lack of stuffing choices & so decided to look elsewhere & discovered Cop Out; so glad we didn't miss out on dining here! the customer service was absolutely fantastic- overwhelmed by the choices, Carl helped make recommendations & even offered to mix and match some leftovers to give me variety- we opted for the classic potato & sauerkraut and pepper butt- (pay by cash or use a venmo QR code) the pierogies were huge! 14 in a serving they were cooked in butter, oil, onions-crispy crunchy charred outside, warm fluffy dough soft inside, stuffed with ample ingredients- after eating the first one I told my husband we are absolutely getting some to go! (we got more pepper butt & hellish-haven't tried yet) highly highly recommend- homemade, delicious, authentic (& well priced)

Don't let the monochromatic nature of Polish food fool you, Cop Out Pierogies is delicious! I ordered a bunch of things from them and loved everything. The pierogies (both dessert and hot) were packed to the brim and the potato pancakes were delightfully crispy. I also really enjoyed how flavorful the stuffed cabbage and the haluski were! But if you're looking for healthy, be aware that this place is not the place for you. There was butter and/or oil pooled at the bottom of my pierogi container and leaking out into the takeout plastic bag but that made popping leftovers in the air fryer later very easy. I've been to the storefront itself once and it's a tiny hole in the wall place that can be easy to miss. You're definitely going there for the food and not the vibes. From what I remember, there's super limited seating and I would recommend getting everything to go and eating it elsewhere because of that. The service was friendly and speedy which is always a plus.

Potato and cheese pierogies didn't disappoint!! They were amazing !!!

Love this quaint little well loved establishment. The owner and staff were all very friendly and welcoming. While we waited for our order of potato and cheese pierogies we were given apple salted caramel bourbon pierogies to sample. They were AMAZING!!! The person helping us said her favorite special flavor is the pumpkin pierogies and that they would be coming out again soon. We were just in town to see our beloved Steelers but now we have another reason to come back to the Burgh!!!

Berry dessert pierogies- Do NOT skip these!

Our family of 7 was beyond happy and FULL (with some leftovers) by sharing 3 orders of pierogies and 1 order of potato pancakes. One of the workers generously let us sample the dessert pierogies.....(insert drool here). Most in our group had never even had pierogies before and these did not disappoint. Each of us had our favorites but there was not one style that didn't end up with a cheerleader. One serving is 14 pierogies and they were perfect- not too doughy and perfectly seasoned. For locals, they have all flavors ready in pre packaged frozen bags wirh easy to follow cookimg directions. They staff treated us as family and were so friendly. They gave us great tips for reheating our leftovers. I wish we had found the place sooner so I could come back to try more flavors! They prefer paying via cash but also offer Venmo, have an ATM on site or offer credit for a slight up charge.

The potato cheddar jalapeño pierogies are a must!! I loved all the onions it came with as well. The potato pancake was good from getting it to go though it was a little soggy. The haluski was also good.

Updating my review again after communication from the owner? Manager? He never told me who he was. Carl has decided that my review was fake, that i couldn't have possibly had a bad experience, and that all the newspaper and TV attention means that nobody should be allowed to say anything that disagrees with the glowing reviews. I have no doubt that at some point many people have enjoyed the food here. I'm not sure if the food was lackluster on the day I went in, or if eating these foods from scratch for many years has made me a tough critic. (For real though, the noodles in the haluski were mush.) Nevertheless, the response from Carl was unprofessional, ungracious and unkind, and I have zero desire to return. I don't usually regret spending money at a restaurant even if I don't like it, because even bad experiences broaden our minds. In this case, I regret the $50 I spent. (Attached: Conversation with Carl. Carl's messages are in black, mine are in blue.)

My friend and I stopped in to try out their pierogies. I got the gluten free potato and cheese that I put some of the black and gold seasoning on. They were tasty, it was my first time trying pierogies. The staff was nice. the shop is kind of small, but they do have seating outside.

Excellent! We went for the first time after hearing about them for years since we moved to Pittsburgh. The people who own it are some of the sweetest people we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They went out of their way to accommodate me, my husband, our 2 small girls and my cousin. We had ordered a lot of food so they brought over a separate small table so that we could put some of it on that and not have our table too crowded while we were eating. They gave us some of their delicious dessert pierogis and they gave the girls coloring books and a stuffed animal each. My 3 year old told them that "it was the best food ever!" and was so happy that she gave them hugs. The pierogis we THE BEST we've ever had and the experience was, by far, one of the best we've ever had. 1,000/10. HIGHLY RECOMMEND giving this wonderful couple your business.

Mix of pierogi's to share, potato pancakes, kielbasa sandwich, fried onions and applesauce in the small bowls.

We stopped in on a Tuesday night and opted to sit at the bar since it wasn't busy. Something important to note is that when we arrived, the music was playing softly in the background. While the prices were decent, the service was not. Our waitress came over to us after our appetizers arrived, I asked for a refill, we made eye contact, she ignored me, and turned around. It took another ten minutes before I was able to get a refill, and she never asked again for the rest of the time we were there. The people sitting beside us arrived later and ordered similar food to us, and they somehow received their food quite some time before ours came out. I am almost certain the bartender forgot to put in our order. Halfway through our meal (which was okay at best), someone turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. I'm pretty sure "Brandy, You're A Fine Girl" played three times in a 30-minute window. It felt like we were intruding on a private party despite there being maybe seven other people at the bar. Despite clearly being done with our food, it took us another 30 minutes to get our checks. If you're looking for cheap bar food and don't mind repetitive music at varying levels of volume and being ignored by your bartender, give Sidelines a try.

It is a place dedicated to the sport of soccer/football (hence "the pitch") much of the inside is the same, but with lots of British football/soccer swag and games on every TV. It is even cooler than the last place! Brian, one of the owners, was on hand at the bar the first time we went and so friendly and helpful and chatty. We enjoyed his company. We shared a Garlic and Rosemary Grilled chicken sandwich. It came on a lightly toasted bread. It was delightful! A nice balance and blend of rosemary and garlic flavors with spinach and tomato and a great aioli. Side of fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. The ranch dressing was the just-right creamy texture and a great mix of herbs, buttermilk and mayo ( ?) This time, ( couldn't stop thinking about that sandwich!) we brought our pup and sat in the cozy courtyard with umbrella tables, a TV for soccer games and a few outdoor games as well. Brian ( again!) came to check on us and brought water for Rooney. Our order this time was a smash burger for Todd and that chicken sandwich. The chicken was perfect, but this time it was on a small hoagie roll, which dampened the flavors, but was still delicious. Todd declared the smash burger just right medium rare. The first thing that hits you, literally, is the strong smell of air freshener when you walk in. It was so overpowering that I almost had to leave. We gradually got used to it but it is not pleasant. The second thing that we noticed was how untrained and stretched thin our waitress was. There was a bartender and our waitress and one cook working that night. When we asked what beers were on tap and if they had any IPAs, she wasn't sure what beers they served or what an IPA was, really. I have to say she was as pleasant as pie but dressed in a sparkly half shirt with bare midriff and tight pants with high heels, the outfit was just sort of odd for a waitress. I had to go to the bar to order another beer because she was just too busy to even notice. The California burger I ordered was cooked to the perfect medium temp and the fries were fresh and nicely salted. We could see the cook using a bowl to gently toss them in salt when they came out of the fryer. He was hustling and got the food out fairly fast considering it was just him. The avocado on the burger was fresh and perfectly ripe too. I hope the chef is paid well because he deserves every penny. Times are tough for small business owners these days. I get that. The food was good and our server was very nice. She just needs trained on the menu and the drinks/beers. And they need to get rid of that overpowering air freshener and fix the root cause of whatever smell they are trying to mask. There is real potential here with some minor tweaks.
