I had a really nice time here enjoying the ocean breeze and drinking Shiner Bock on tap, which is a Texas beer (I was glad to find it). 2 stars knocked off for not having a full bar. Otherwise I liked it. Casual and laid back crowd. There was a live band (country) the night we went. Peanuts on the tables (and floors). Bartender gave a little attitude when I asked if they had champagne and what kind (I don't blame her really considering it wasn't really a "champagne" kind of place). This place is a dive bar. So I had to stop and check it out. Lots of locals at this dive. They do have a guy at the door checking IDs so heads up. The crew is vary friendly and quick with the drinks. They also have buckets of peanuts around the bar. The jukebox was awsome lots of rock and metal. The only thing that got to me was the beer. It was not could enough. Hart braking :( read more

Not too shabby for a dive bar. Free peanuts in the shell and you'll have the freedom to throw your shells on the floor. Unfortunately their pool table is not balanced. Its a cool corner bar, dive and friendly (IMO), but I find the music too loud. I keep going there and there are only a handful of us and we cannot talk over the tunes. If it were packed, then maybe I could see it being loud, but turn it down for us early evening guests! BTW, play pool and meet someone. I was at the street fair last night and needed to use the restroom. I'm eight months pregnant and it was URGENT. They refused to let me in stating that they don't allow pregnant women in the bar and would not budge even after I explained the situation. I've since spoken to several women who have been in the bar while in their third trimester and obviously pregnant so I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to let me use the bathroom. A dive in every sense of the word, and I mean that as a compliment. Good beer selection and cute, friendly bartenders. Don't get the "shots" cause they're not really shots, they're some low-level sake-type liquor that won't get you drunk. The wednesday night local beer special is good, it's like $3 for local brews. They have PBR in tall cans too. Free peanuts. The bouncers look like giant pyschotic biker dudes but they're actually really nice guys. The bands are hit or miss. Pretty cool bar for being the first bar I have ever been too. I went there on a Wednesday night when Cora was playing live music! It was loud but they kick butt so it's ok. Everyone just seem so drunk & happy I love that type of atmosphere. Unfortunately I can't drink for the next couple of months but I still had a lot fun there being sober. It's a true dive bar and it's great for what it is. It's a good place to grab a beer on a Thursday night and then walk up to the street fair and listen to some live music. I like this bar; I recommend it and affectionately call it a 'spit-n-sawdust' kinda bar. read more

Found this place on yelp while looking for a place to watch the 49er/Seahawk game the other day. Big sterile sports bars are not our thing, PVP is right near the beach to where we could see the sun setting out the window, a nice low key atmosphere and very friendly staff (the reviews here aren't kidding, the bartenders and staff are sooooo affable and welcoming). First time stopping in....great lil place to hang with the locals...great beer...all is well....HOWEVER, when you walk in and go to the right...WATCH YOUR STEP.. total optical illusion going on there unless. you look up or at the floor. you will miss the step and its not a small step...the optical illusion is when you walk in you naturally look at the bar and the taps,,the bar is the same height all the way down end to end...bar stools are short when you walk in on one side and tall at the other (below the step)..my pulled calf muscle is feeling better but is very stiff...just a warning..there is a sign hanging from the ceiling, but as I said you walk in looking at the bar and taps..just needs to maybe put a small hand rail..maybe an old staircase rail to match the motif. I had great beer, great time with friends and a guy at the bar checked on me...I would definitely go back. read more

Terrible experience. Drove out of our way to visit because it was listed as dog friendly. Arrived with our small dog and there was a dog in the bar. As soon as we walked in, the bar tender (bearded, unkempt looking guy) said that no dogs were allowed. Refused to discuss why in that case, there was another dog wandering loose in the bar. Will never go again. He was unnecessarily rude and seemed extremely pleased with himself. Very odd little man. read more

I visited Oceanside for a week to escape the Las Vegas heat and get away from work for a few days. Enjoying your weather this past Thursday the 8th while walking the beach, I came across Pier View Pub. Old-school look with lots of real wood, an open airy feel with a great breeze, and a sassy, friendly bartender named Andrea who runs a tight ship. I've seen more than a few places like this where busy crowds can get out of hand, but she kept the rowdies in line without losing her cool. The glasses were clean, the beer was cold, and the peanuts..well..there's just so much you can do with them. I'll be back here when I return. A fun atmosphere and a great location close to the pier. read more

This place smelled like pee. It was really hot in there, we had to request to turn on a fan. The server made it clear to us she was a bar tender not a waitress, mean while she was bringing drinks to everyone else. I guess Hispanics aren't welcomed. read more

I went here on the 4th of July after being on the beach camped out all day for a good spot for fireworks just to find out Oceanside doesn't do fireworks anymore. Nice. Anyway never been and had never yelped it so my fiance orders a beam and coke, bartender says no beam but we have rum. He was like ok, rum and coke whatever and a vodka a cranberry. We get our drinks and I am like what the? Why does this taste so wierd. Whatever just drink it and eat some peanuts. The music is pretty good. Alot of older locals which is cool as long as you quite freaking staring at me. Anywho back to the drinks. He goes to order another one and he watches her pour this time. OH that's why they taste wierd its not liquor it's that han wine crap. Now I dont mind a beer and wine bar but let me know when I order drinks that its not liquor, don't try to play it off like you are out of beam. That's why they get 2 stars, all the bartender had to say was we only have beer and wine but she was all shady. Other than that it was an okay place but won't be back. read more

This place is awesome, it draws a large variety of people depending on the day, time, and who's playing. Thursday is reggae with free cover. If you bring in food from a local restaurant you got $1 off pints. Happy hour is $12 pitchers. They serve Dark and Stormy in pitchers, and during happy hour. Most places only serve that beer in glasses. Free peanuts. I believe Tuesday's is free pool. Karaoke machine. The bouncers are cool. The bar backs are cool, the chicks are pretty cute. Lots of tat's, surfers, bikers, hooligans, salty old men, sand witches, hipsters, cougars, families, friends...good times. read more

This is a small dive bar with great staff and lots of beer on tap. No liquor but they do sell wine. They have 2 pool tables but they are not very good with very light, flimsy pool cues with chips in them, and not much room to play when busy. A lot of regulars there. Best part about this place is their staff and happy hour specials. They do have good music from the jukebox too. read more

I go to this bar a lot, but not that they no longer have the Peanuts, or the Football package on Sundays, plus one of our most liked bartenders, Mitch, is no longer there, there is no reason for us to go on the weekends. We will be going to the Haunted Head bar from now on, on the weekends that is, but during the weekdays we will still go to see our other most liked girl, Rachel. The owners are not doing their bar any good by doing away with thinks the regulars are used to having, the bartenders even have to buy the soap to clean the beer glasses, now that's just being cheap. read more
