This is gonna be a somewhat limited review since I did do a pick up order and did not try the food. Place looked clean, good customer service, so again for my limited interaction with the business it was fairly nice. The poor score is because the beer was awful. I tried a Pilsner, a blonde, and a red ale. The pilsner was hoppy, the blonde ale was weirdly salty? The red ale was pretty decent. But two out of three is not great. And even the red ale was just so so. I don't think I'm coming back. Best of luck. read more

Very popular spot when I came on a Thursday late afternoon. They offer full pores and 5 ounce sizes. They don't have any flights so if you're wanting to try a few then your best bet is to order 5 ounce beers, but you can only order two at a time. Overall a nice spot and kind of near 2-3 other breweries which is nice. read more

Kudos to whoever designed the space. While finding parking is difficult, upon walking in you're transported to a great atmosphere to enjoy a few drinks and conversation. TV screens to enjoy whatever is going on and there's a couple of nearby food options that will deliver. Beer was solid. No complaints. Burgeon is a cool brewery! After waking into Burgeon, I immediately loved the ambiance and vibe. There's a big tree near the bar with string lights hanging that creates an outdoorsy feel. All of the tables and some of their benches are made of big pieces of wood. The brewery has a lot of indoor seating and feels spacious. It was clean inside and felt inviting. The guy working the bar greeted us and was very friendly. We tried a handful of Burgeon's beers and liked them all. The beers were smooth and easy to drink. The hazy IPAs were not too bitter or hoppy. Burgeon has food trucks for their food option. We did not eat, but there was a pizza food truck out front to order from. I have been to their outpost in Escondido but finally got a chance to check out the home base in Carlsbad. Atmosphere: 9 - Relaxed, natural wood seating and countertops. Outdoor area near food truck and spacious interior. Thursday evening...75% full. Service: 10 - Quick recommendations on what to try. I like it when the bartenders have opinions and are not afraid to tell you what they think is best. Beer: 10 - I'm a hazy IPA guy and this place has several great ones. I didn't want the ones that I had before even though I know they are great. I tried a couple tasters and my favorite was the Hazy - Universal Secret. Best beer I have had in weeks. Other: The beers are so good here that I would rate them in the top 5 breweries in the USA. I travel 3 weeks a month and have the opportunity to sample quite a variety of breweries. I forget to review but on average I get to try at least 2 new breweries per week. The beer here is quite awesome! read more

Brews made here are easily some of the best you will find anywhere. Yeah, anywhere !. Then there's the well informed staff. If you come here and not sure what to order, a tell your server what style and brand you like. More times than not you'll be impressed. As for food. This location typically has food trucks. These hand selected eateries pair well with the brews Burgeon produces. Particularly Thumbs Up smoked meats/sandwiches and more. Feeling thirsty on a hot Tuesday afternoon we decided to go and get a couple of cold beers. We ordered our favorite from a friendly man named Conrad. We ordered Treevana IPA which is our go to IPA, why not go to the source. Conrad even changed the channel and put on the club World club soccer game. If you have a tree fetish--and who doesn't?--this is your happy place. The logo is a tree. There are trees on the walls and inside the brewery. Some of the beers ate named after trees. They donate money to plant trees, which is very cool. You get the idea. So how is the beer? Well, thank you for asking. It's delicious. They are heavy on the IPAs. But their flagship, Treevana, is very smooth and not too crazy piney. They also have a nice refreshing Mexican lager (Invita) and an absolutely delicious, boozy, chocolatey stout (Dutchman's Pipe). And many more. These are quality brews, folks. The interior is spacious and they sometimes set up tables outside, too. Keep an eye on their calendar online for food trucks. How was it that I slept on this brewery? I'm not sure but I definitely regret it. Maybe because they're not as big as a Stone, Ballast Point which in my opinion has fell off some, Modern Times, and Belching Beaver. Well it's my our fault because Burgeon has some great beers and my favorite is that Juice IPA something. This location is a warehouse with a decent size indoor drinking area and a nice size parking lot patio area. They usually have some type of food setup. Alright, I'll say it: Best beer in North County San Diego (top three in the city.) I was first welcomed into this nature themed brewery almost two years to date. Met with friendly, helpful staff, a large variety of beer styles, and friendly patrons, I could not ask for a better watering hole! The brewery specializes in IPA's both hazy and west coast as well as one of my favorite, but unfortunately not often brewed, hopped lagers. Beers are always brewed with top shelf ingredients and hops. Always true to style. Crisp and clean. If you are in the neighborhood, or exploring San Diego for top beer/breweries, it's difficult to not include Burgeon in your top 3! read more

Yesterday was my first visit here. However it's been on my to-go-to list/bookmarks for a long while (many years actually). However it wasn't my first time having their beer elsewhere. As many locals know many businesses support the local breweries within their own tasting room:/bar/restaurant by having them on tap. You can try two tasters per person at a time so my guest and I shared 4 between us both. Matty was helping us on our short and sweet trip here ~~ as we only had enough time to order a chipotle chicken and cheese grilled sandwich from the Drippin' Kitchen food truck and try almost a handful of what they had to offer us... before they closed up for the night. He was super hospitable and helped explain their menu to us. They had a little bit of something for everyone. I want to say they had about 10 or more brews to choose from. So probably a medium amount of choices. I too am not a huge fan of too many IPAs due to sensitivities. So their selection worked out for me. I chose the Strawberry Limeade Sour and the Pipe stout. My guest got the Pilsner Pistil and a Lager (forgot the name) Each brew stood out from the other with their own individual flavor. (not like some places where you might not be able to taste the difference between the brews) We got the super easy drinking Pistil 4 pack as our to-go item. *Note you cannot mix n match the take home cans here. So come wearing your flannel and lumberjack or casual attire. Bring your family, friends and your puppy because they are all welcome here. This industrial looking building is nothing but outdoorsy on the inside. From their indoor tree, beautiful wood work(s) throughout, high-top communal bar seating areas, to picnic tables, dog water bowl n snacks, & a very open floor plan etc made for a very nice and relaxing evening. This is their main brewery headquarters and currently have two other tap locations. One in Escondido and the other one in the little Italy region. Overall our short n sweet visit was a great one. My hubby and friends really like this place for their delicious IPA's. I'm more of a sours fan which they don't have. However, everyone is really patient when I'm trying to find a favorite beer to enjoy. Came in today because they have their strawberry/raspberry juice press beer. Love this place! They have a nice beer selection, great tasting beer, and a comforting environment filled with a nice array of plants. And, speaking of plants, they help with the planting of TREES in our National Forests, how awesome is that! In addition, they also allow pets, albeit they have to be on a leash. But hey, that's kinda the norm for a pet-friendly place right. Oh, and they have a nice custom made shuffle board maybe made out of driftwood?? Lastly, the place isn't too big. Party busses of 20 or more are asked to call ahead. They have 2 long, tables that can seat about 10 each, about 3 bar height concrete tables with seating for about 6 each, about 4 standing height tables without seats, some wood bench seats, and plenty of seating around the bar. This place is very close to McClellan-Palomar Airport, so if you're waiting to take-off, grab a quick ride over and have yourselves a drink or two. -Cheers! read more
