Pretty good pizza I ordered the veggie pizza with beef pepperoni, crust had cujin and sesame the pizza was completely covered with toppings which I loved and full of flavor but unfortunately their were a few slices that had a few bites that the dough was not completely cooked. But the rest was yummy

This is one of the best gluten free dairy free pizzas I've ever had! I didn't know there was such a thing of GF thick crust, and when I finally found a spot with GF thick crust and DF cheese, I was over the moon to try it. The pizza went beyond my expectations. The crust was soft and tasty. The cheese was plentiful and actually melted. The toppings were also plentiful. The staff were also really helpful. My only disappointment was that I didn't buy another pizza to take home to freeze. Not sure what cheese or crust they use, but I will be back every time I visit Detroit no matter what. I wish all GF DF pizza could taste like this!

In town to catch a Tigers game and wanted pizza with both Vegan and Gluten Free options. Pie Sci to the rescue! They have your traditional choices along with Vegan and Gluten Free. It is a very clean and homey dinning area! The staff makes you feel welcomed from the get go! Our visit to Detroit was in the 90's with very high humidity which kept us indoors. They also have a garden patio out back which would have been my preference if the temperature was a bit lower. My family and I all had small square pizzas. We had a Veggie D on gluten free and made vegan with the cashew cheese. My daughter was in a happy place with her choice. We also had a Pep Squad made vegan with the follow your heart cheese. Another hit. I had Hawaiian 5-0 on gluten free along with the jalapeño bbq sauce. My pizza was great! They serve Faygo soda which is great. Their homemade version of the Choco Taco was great! As hot as it was. I was going to ask if I could get it out of their walk-in freezer myself!

Heard great things about this place and finally stopped in. It is much smaller inside than I was expecting. We got two small pizzas, a pepperoni and supreme square. Nice outside crisp cheese on crust, crust was really nice, I was expecting a much more dense crust but it was airy, which was great! Flavor of the toppings was great and sauce was nice. Would for sure come back!

Yummy! I only like thin crust pizza, and this hit the spot. I had the BLT, which was delicious in the future. I'll get it with even more tomatoes. My daughter had the Keegan Michael gnocchi, two thumbs up. My sister-in-law had the Hawaii Five-0, another two thumbs up.

Visiting from Indiana. We needed some legit Detroit style pizza and, boy, did we find it. Employee's were nice and helped us quickly. Cute little shop. Unique toppings with plenty of vegetarian options. Crust was well made. Clever food combinations. I had the devastator and that curry ketchup really sealed the deal! Definitely coming back

I am a fiend for Detroit style pizza. I so wanted to love Pie Sci, but I can't say anything really stood out. The menu itself is quite creative. With options like Hawaii 5-0, pickle rich, and even Alfredo. I went for the fennel sausage, Which sounds wonderful in theory. Technically speaking, it falls short. I'm looking for the distinctive crispy outer crust I've come to love and the chewy thickness of the crust itself. The pizza itself would could have really benefited from a sauce to top it off(as often you find on this style), or even a drizzle of some sort. I wish I could say more, but it's all just subtle and underwhelming. Since the very first encounter I had with Detroit style pizza, I've been shouting its praises from the rooftops. I've now had it all over the country, and some absolutely incredible pies to say the least. But one thing that continues to mystify me is why I simply cannot find a great Detroit style in.....Detroit! The search continues....

I'm always on the lookout for delicious gluten free pizza, and my husband and I were in the area, so we decided to give Pie Sci a chance. Goodness! I am so glad that we did. The pizza was large and delicious. The staff were very friendly. There aren't a lot of tables to sit at, but that wasn't a big deal to us. The gluten free crust is thin and crispy, somewhat like a thick cracker. We got the Pickle Rick. My husband, who eats gluten, even said it was one of the best pizzas he's had. There is street parking, and as it's across the street from a university, I'd imagine it's quite popular among college students. We will definitely be back.

One of the best Detroit Style pies, and with that responsibility everything is divine from the crust crispness and flavor to the crazy flavors. And crazy isn't that crazy, I had a strawberry balsamic pie that still makes my mouth water. Pie Sci isn't afraid to try new things and that's what makes it so great - when you go (because you have to) try the weekly flavor it's usually worth the risk! With any Detroit style pie, it does take a while in the oven, but it is better fresh. They do have seating, but it is minimal.

I wish I could write a better review since this location was open when the pizza place down the road had run out of pizza. Unfortunately the slices were hard as a rock and as you can tell by the photo it might have been sitting in the warmer for hours. The salad I had no hope for once I opened the container. It did not taste fresh and didn't give me the refreshing feeling a Caprese salad should give me. Also I asked for a fork ..... they said they did not have any. I was confused cause I did see plastic forks hidden away next to the register.

Visited Detroit recently for the first time and was so excited for Detroit style pizza! It could have just been the one we ordered, but I didn't think the flavors were great. We got the BLT - Garlic oil, mozzarella, bacon, spring mix, cherry tomatoes, and herb mayo drizzle. We ordered the Honor Roll Upgrade: Sesame crust, raw red onion, balsamic drizzle, but they forgot about it and it was not added. Opening the box just looked like a raw salad of spring mix and tomato's were thrown on top - I think it would have been yummier if they were warm just a bit and cookies into the top. The cheese was not very gooey - which I really like. Bacon and the garlic aioli were very good. We sat on the back patio which is actually very large, probably 8 picnic tables. Each table had an umbrella you could raise which was really nice. I would try another place next time I'm in Detroit!

Long overdue review for Pie-Sci - one of my favorite Detroit style pizzas ( already you can also find a traditional round pie here if that's your thing)! My favorite thing about this shop is the variety and uniqueness of the pies you can find here. They also have a lot of veg/vegan options as well and their pizzas can be made GF, so a very inclusive shop for everyone's diet and preferences. Service has always been great and 'za has always hit the spot. Highly recommend supporting local here instead of your run of the mill chain pizza. Dine in or carry out at this location. I have to give this place five stars, even though we had to wait close to an hour (but come on... busy Saturday night on Marathon weekend), and the first pie they made was wrong (though they caught this themselves). You know why? Because it was the best damn pizza I've ever had. Let me clarify I'VE HAD A LOT. A LOT. A LOT OF PIZZA. But I've never enjoyed one more than this. We got two vegan offerings: one with Brussels sprouts and balsamic, and one with artichoke hearts, smoky tofu and the black pepper crust (GET THAT.) The crust. DAMN. It's airy, crunchy, chewy yet tender... It's just perfect. My pre-race tradition is PIE. I'm SO glad I got it here. read more

As a person working within the City of Detroit Law Enforcement, myself and Partners were picking up an order in full uniform, when the cashier started acting funny !!! He ask for ID after swiping our credit card, we comply but he kept saying thing like not being trusted. After doing business with them for over several year, I noticed when non-black customers pay ID is not require and I witness this personally many time. I am a responsible person, but seeing this may me question their practices. I believe if they had their requirements posted, this would make rules fair across The board. read more

If you want pizza this is the place to come. We drive from Saginaw and have been here a half dozen times - it had been worth the drive every single time! There is nothing average about any pizza you order here. I can't speak to the regular pizzas but the vegan and vegetarian options are nothing short of amazing. Every bite is exploding with flavor. This is a must on every pizza lovers bucket list. read more

The atmosphere was great, it's small but very comfortable vibes. Parking maybe a problem, I went when it was somewhat busy so I had to park further from the restaurant but overall 8.5/10. Pizza amazing my wife and I shared two different small size pizzas. Could've went for another, to be honest. Hands down of the best I've had in Michigan. read more

Since I love trying new foodie spots, I randomly decided to try Piesci on the way home from work, the casino hotel just up the road. Wow, I'm so amazed! First, great customer service. That's a priority for me. I bought a small margherita pizza and a small hani and grabbed a slice from both. These are well-thought-out gourmet recipes. The margarita had the freshest, tastiest spinach and tomatoes. And the Hani Depp?! It's Pie-sci's version of National Coney Island's hani sandwich, but fresher. The crust is light. Small out of the way place kinda by old Tiger stadium. It is very unique and perfect when you are out and about with a "plant based buddy." I really enjoyed the strawberry cough pizza. Lots of great flavors going on. Baked to perfection. The strawberries just added a little something. I will be back! read more

I really like this place. It's a cool pizza joint with really good pizza. I had the deep dish BLT pizza and it was really good. It was crispy, cheesy goodness. It was a cool take on a BLT through pizza. It had a mayo based sauce and it was drizzled with a herb mayo which was tangy and fresh. The garlic oil that's drizzled on just sets it off. I would put it on everything if I could. They have lots of options for those with food allergies, vegetarian etc. First pizza here. I'm looking forward to try many more in the future. read more

My second time coming here and it's truly amazing! You can order basically any of their pizzas vegan! I got the classic vegan cheese pizza and vegan nacho mama! It's so hard to find a vegan pizza THAT TASTES GOOD and doesn't use daiya cheese but I think they use violife and it's one of my faves! Both were delicious and the nacho mama had a nice kick you can tell their crust/pizza dough is made with love it tastes so fresh and delicious! They also had vegan Parmesan and nutritional yeast out to use with red pepper flakes and oregano which was soo nice And the best part is they make vegan AND gluten free ice cream sandwiches called cloudbites!! My only regret is that I didn't order more to take home love this place, they're doing it right !! read more

Pie Sci is super original yet you can find a pizza for everyone. Not the adventurous type? Don't worry your pretty down the margarita and wash it down with an ice cold Rock N Rye. Mildly adventurous shoot for the Jerk Chicken pizza and also wash it down with an ice cold Rock N Rye. Feeling adventurous well this place has something for you. I tried the Nacho Pizza today and washed it down with an ice cold RNR. Next time it will be the Pickle Rick or maybe the Are You Alfredo of the Dark and you better believe it's going to be washed down with an ice cold Rock N Rye because that's the right thing to do. Due to Covid-19, I haven't been eating out nearly as much as in the past. To be honest, I've only hit up my favorite 2 spots in the last 6 months and I'm somewhat sorry to say, ONLY Pie Sci makes my heart sing and my stomach smile! I don't play when it comes to my food and when I tell you this place is the BOMB, like Drake, it's no lie, no lie, no lie! They're only doing pick-up and, I was so proud to see an article on their success during the pandemic! Now, if that's not a testimony to good eats, I don't know what is. Fantastic! We got the Weird Al Pastor, the Pear Necessities, and the margherita. The margherita was the weakest, since it had fresh tomatoes on it, which made them somewhat bland. Still an amazing pizza. The Weird and the Pear were phenomenal, so much flavor! I would easily recommend this place, some of the best, most creative pizzas I've had. read more

It's a nice little pizza parlor. I ordered a large square meat lover's pizza for takeout. It was ready at the promised time. The sauce is very good. The crust wasn't as crispy as I expected, but overall the pizza was good, and I'd return again. read more

You don't need me to tell you how good Pie Sci is. But dang. Whether it a classic build your own or one of their many creations I am never disappointed. I am not a vegan but their vegan pies are amazing as well. Currently love the Cashew Rules Everything Around Me. Only downside is waiting until your favorite special comes back (Lil Kimchi xo). read more

Highly recommend if you want a tasty pie on your way to the Detroit airport. Ended up at Pie Sci not knowing what to expect, and was greeted by friendly staff and sick wall art. Pizza is A+. Incredible menu options and also staff is very flexible and helpful if you have a group that all want something different. Delicious, fast and fresh, and didn't put a dent in my wallet. Hope to stumble upon them again soon! read more

Absolutely delicious! It's just a little place with limited seating but you can't beat the pizza!!! Omg, we ordered the BLT and it was wonderful!!! In addition, the staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating! They also offer vegan options! This place is a diamond in the rough but I will definitely be back!!!! read more

My boyfriend and I have been coming here a lot lately and everytime I always forget to put a review on them afterwards. We always get a large custom Pizza. We've only had one mess up from them, but they are very accommodating. The people that pick up the phone make you feel very comfortable and welcomed and sometimes make you laugh. This place is such a chill spot and make your pizza with the freshest ingredients. The artwork in the restaurant is very eye catching and entertaining to look at. The pizza is literally cooked nice In my opinion..it's not too soggy with sauce nor crunchy. These guys cook it perfectly!! We normally get it to go, but seating is also available. read more

I was able to put in an order of 10 pies the same day and they were hot, delicious & on time. The guy who answered the phone when I put my order in was super attentive and friendly and made sure the order got in properly. If you're looking for a place that just serves cheese and sauce, this might not be the place for you. But if you're looking for a unique and delicious pizza experience, this is the place! Creative and hearty toppings, generous portions, and a substantial crust. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The guy at the counter said they have meat substitutes for pretty much everything so almost anything could be made veg. We asked for "no bacon" but were offered "tofu bacon" instead, which was super tasty! We ordered, went down the street to buy a bottle of wine, and came back to pick up our to-go order--less than 15 mins and our pizza was done! We'll definitley be back to try more pizza goodness. read more

The Jimmy Pesto made vegan and gluten-free was the best pizza I've had since the last time I ate wheat. Can Pie Sci please come to the Bay Area? Pretty please! Mint chip CloudBite was heavenly as well. The super nice employees were very helpful and accommodating as I managed a cranky toddler and baby while dinning in. Nice diaper changing set up in the all genders restroom. read more

With the help of my trusty Yelp App I was able to find a very cool pizza shop a couple blocks from the Michigan Science Center. They have an amazing selection of pizza. With four basic pizzas: Meatlovers, Veggie D, Margherita, and BLT. Seasonally the offer 8 additional pizzas. I was able to catch the summer menu before they changed over to their fall menu. I ordered the This ICP (Insane Cauliflower Pizza) with the strong suggestion of the nice employee. Details: red sauce with oven roasted cauliflower, feta, red onion, jalapeño, mozzarella, balsamic graze drizzle. I made it a large Detroit-style pizza. Soooooo good! The crust is amazing! This pizza is definitely worth the trip to Detroit. read more

This review is coming all the way from California. What validity does a Californian have for a Detroit pizza joint? I'll save the gritty details...but I recently had to place an order and had a special, out of the ordinary, but completely necessary request for a...let's be PC and say 'phallic shaped' pizza. The guys at Pie Sci were incredibly to say the least, downright awesome! They were totally on board and went above and beyond to 'fulfill' my special request and even added their own flare on top. Litterly had the worst experience with pie-sci tonight (a vegan favorite I know). I ordered a vegan build your own pizza and then when I bit into it I noticed the cheese was suspiciously stringy. I called the restaurant to confirm the vegan cheese and they confirmed it was in fact not vegan and refused to re make the pizza. They claimed we did not specify vegan and demanded we pay 50% off the original price to have it refired. We ended up having to show back up with the pizza in person to stake our claim. Even then all three staff decided to gang up on us and tell us how we were wrong. We ordered the pizza as a vegan build your own and they completely refused to hear any of it and would not work with us in any way. Being someone who has worked in this industry for several years I am shocked that we were treated this way when we have covered all of our bases. Will never return, watch your back vegans there are places out there not looking out for us. read more

Got a solid pizza from here, with a lot of modifications--which they followed to a T. It was the jerk chicken one. Very very good stuff. The crust is definitely one of the best that ive had in recent memory (just wish they did flavors on them. Would be that much more delectable). They got their covid protocol down pretty well. Rolled up in the car, called in, didnt wait long til i was enjoying a preliminary slice in the car before heading home. I will be back soon! read more

On a rainy day, my friend and I decided to check out this new pizza joint that mixed science and the art of pizza. It's a small hipsteresque vibe. You have the choice between square or round pizzas. I was a little annoyed that I couldn't order a four square pizza and I was forced to order a large if I wanted a square. The menu was a unique take on pizza. You could get a pear pizza, chicken pesto or the max daddy burger pizza (couple examples). We split the chicken pesto pizza and mac pizza. Both were good and different. The were a little dry and needed more sauce. It was a good effort on a new pizza concept but my tastebuds weren't blown away. I did like their Detroit fountain flavors. They had Detroit rock n rye, ginger ale and much more. I'd recommend trying it once but I wouldn't go back. read more

Stopped by for the first time on 6/5/21. I know good pizza -- I'm from Chicago. This pizza was AMAZING! Not sure what Bri from Walled Lake had, but he/she didn't have what I had. I tried the Jimmy Pesto (vegan version) and The Pear Necessity (vegan). The crust was just right. The toppings were so fresh. It has been a while since I've had a pizza that has tasted this great! I was eating the pizza out of the box on my way back home. I couldn't wait. When I arrived at my destination, I called Pie Sci to let them know how GREAT the pizza tasted. It was THAT good. Planning to return today for more! I hear they have an eggs Benedict pizza. Ditch that other brunch and head to Pie Sci!!! They're open on Sundays. read more

Pizza here is decent. I got a square pizza with basil and pepperoni. Crust was really good but the cheese to sauce ratio was not good in my opinion. Barely any sauce and way too much cheese--i hate when there's a thick bed of cheese on my pizza but I understand some people like this. The basil was really good and fresh but the pepperoni was scarce which was annoying. If I order pepperoni pizza I expect more than two slices of pepperoni per slice of pizza. read more

Pie-Sci began as a pop-up inside the Woodbridge Pub, where a group of pizza lovers set out to explore the science of great pizza. What started as a fun experiment quickly gained a following, leading to our very own brick-and-mortar location right next door to the pub. I decided to stick with the "Kare Bear" - Romaine base with BBQ chicken, hard-boiled egg, bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and red onion with their ranch sauce. It sounds like a Cobb Salad to me. I watched the young lady assemble the ingredients and toss it together then pour it into a cardboard bowl. $15.25 plus tax. Remember to grab a fork if you don't already have one at your desk. It was a bit too busy to eat in today and it was a bit too warm to sit outside. So we brought it back to the office where I demolished this huge and delicious salad. It's not cheap but it is fresh and it feels healthy. I would absolutely choose 7 Greens again for lunch. Inconsistent and gave us dairy cheese on a vegan pizza. First two times I came in I was like everybody else in the reviews: super impressed and thought I found a new fav pizza place. Then the third time the pizza was totally different so I changed up my order the 4th time. I was impressed again. 5th time I came in the same pizza was different again and the cashew cheese was slapped on in lumps like marinara. It was gross. My dog likes it though. 6th time tried the vegan gluten free for the kids. Everybody liked it. They forgot the cashew cheese on the breadsticks that I paid extra for. The other day we came back in and ordered the same. I asked if they'd add the cashew cheese no charge since they screwed up the time before. The manager said no. WTF? Got home and opened the pizzas and tried the gluten free....totally different (vegan) cheese but they only carry one vegan mozzarella...so they had used dairy cheese the week before. I really wanted to have the experience other people in the reviews seem to have. But I didn't. And I am not going back to try again for awhile. Our buddy got a hair in his pizza, and it was so gross. It wasn't just a single hair, it was like a clump of hair. After he gagged on it and ultimately barfed everywhere, nobody was hungry anymore and we all just lost our appetite. He called to let them now about his experience and request a refund and the girl on the phone was such a jerk to him. He didn't even want to call to complain in the first place, but we all all urged him to as we thought he deserved a refund. Yo, if I was this chics manager, she'd be packing her bags right now. She just laid into him, and was being so unprofessional. There are plenty of good pizza places in town, we won't be coming back ever again. I LOVE this pizza. The crust is always on par, toppings are consistently dispersed and types of pizzas are forever being experimented with! Not to mention, Pie-Sci offers pizzas for your vegan/vegitarian friends, meat loving dads and people like me who don't care either way. Don't order the hair pie. No seriously though, I really wanted to like this place. Everything was great until our friend got this like hair abortion in his pizza. Not sure what kind of "pie science" they are into over there, but there was like this half born, congenial twin in our friends pizza slice and it was disgusting... surprised he didn't find any teeth or eyeballs in there. I really dig the gluten-free/vegan/dairy-free options at this place. The staff is super friendly, and the dining area is chill and comfy with some cool art and a killer sticker collection. The wait time is usually around 20 minutes, but it can be longer during busy times. They switch up their menu with the seasons, but they keep some classics.
