Pepperoni roll
Lionel B.

Capri has been open since 1973. Everything here is good. They are well-known for their pepperoni rolls and meatball subs. Both are awesome. But the real star of the show here is the 4 Meatball Sub with Sauce and Cheese. And the light fluffy bakery bread is good. So, moral of the story, don't be a stunatz, if you wanna some good meatball, you come-a to Capri, capice?

Terrible customer service. Have trouble changing their glove when serving food and taking money. My change came with a side of sauce.

I can't believe the place is still here after all of these years. There are 2 types of subs here: Italian, and "Other Subs", so you know that this shop sprang from the vibrant Italian community that once populated Detroit. The Italian Subs at Gonella's are ordered according to how many layers it builds up (which I think is a unique concept). These layered Gonella Italian Subs are layered with a variety of Italian meats (Hard Salami, Salami Cotto, Mortadella, Smoked Ham and Capicola), provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & Gonella's homemade dressing. Soft or hard roll. Extras: Peppers (+.50) Cheese (+.50) - (Turkey is reserved for the "Other Subs). 6 Layers Meat, 1 Layer Cheese --- $8 8 Layers Meat, 2 Layer Cheese --- $9 12 Layers Meat, 2 Layer Cheese --- $12 14 Layers Meat, 3 Layer Cheese --- $13 18 Layers Meat, 3 Layer Cheese --- $14 The subs are heavy and delicious. Soft sub buns, tons of stacks of meat, lettuce and tomato or not. No one goes hungry after a sub here. Some deli spots tend to skimp on the protein, but not this place. My team members favorite is the Italian, 6 stacks. I usually will go for a turkey or chicken stack. They offer up to 18 stacks, haven't tried that yet.

I used to think that Wing Snob had the absolute best tenders due to their size, breading and…read morejuiciness. Side Chic's blows them out of the water along with every other spot in Detroit/Dearborn (Savvy Sliders, Checkers, KFC, Chic Fil A, Chick N Kingz etc.) The breading on the tenders is very, very flavorful. They also put the perfect amount of breading on each tender. I absolutely hate overbreaded tenders where it feels like you're chewing through multiple layers till you hit chicken. Side Chic's avoids this completely by having a nice layer of breading that adds flavor and doesn't distract from the chicken. The chicken itself is hot, juicy and well textured. This is not rubbery, dry chicken. The only other way I can describe it is it just tastes fresh. I was thoroughly impressed. Side Chic's is a carry out spot that's open very, very late (which is awesome). Everyone who works there is incredibly pleasant and helpful. Also, even though the chicken is fresh and made to order, your food comes out in a fairly quick manner. I really can't say enough good things about Side Chic's. Best Chicken Tenders I've had in the Detroit/Dearborn area!

I came recently and the fries, fried pickles, and sauces were all great! The chicken was still okay, but not seasoned the same way as before. Still moist and tender tho. There's was oil all over the boxes though and staining like a seventh (or 14-18%) of the paper bag. That's a lot. The box was dripping oil. Tasted great other than comparing the chicken to the first time. i'm confused about the lack of reviews. I'm thinking I have the wrong page...

Been wanting to try this place out for a while…read more Overheard this place will be closed for 4 weeks or so starting next week. Grabbed some lunch for my team: Chicken bacon ranch no lettuce or tomato, a large Lebanese salad (no pita), Turkey Reuben sandwich, Chicken melt, Bronx and a can of Mountain Dew and one can of Coke. Oh my. Their Chicken melt menu that someone posted on here changed from what someone else had posted a while back. Their current chicken melt is essentially a chicken Philly. It wasn't what my team member wanted, had to give it to someone else, since it had mushrooms in it. The Lebanese salad was good, the large is a good size. Loaded with tomatoes and cukes. Ended up with bits of pita at the bottom of my salad, had to pick them out. :/ The chicken bacon ranch was nicely packed with meat in a sub bun. The Bronx was good as well. The turkey Rueben was okay. Light on the kraut and sauce. The turkey meat was deli slices though. The bread was maybe separately toasted. It was pan or cook top cooked. The rye was a bit too hard as I tried to get a bite in. I ended up having to gut it and eat the inside goods separately. Oven roasted turkey would have been fantastic, more kraut or add slaw too. Salad was good and fresh. The sandwiches look picture worthy.

The Fajita Sub was loaded with chicken, cheese, and toppings and was solid. The crispy bread had a satisfying crunch and the flavors were bold and tasty. Zaghloul Subs has been on my try list ever since I moved to Michigan. Unfortunately the location in…read moreDearborn Heights just isn't somewhere I go very often so it's been stuck on my list for the longest time. They opened a second branch in East Dearborn recently which finally allowed me to give the subs a try. The restaurant itself is quite small and is mostly a takeout destination. There are only 14 seats in the small dining room, a small fridge stocked with drinks, and the order counter, from which you can see the kitchen. I went in on a very empty weekday lunch and got one item, which took about 10 minutes to come out: Lebanese Sub, Half ($8.99) - They toast this sub well, resulting in a very nice crunch on the exterior. Just be careful eating it - you can pretty easily lacerate your gums if you're not careful! The interior is moist for the most part, with a bit of a mild garlic and mayo mixture that covers all the ingredients. There's a double layer of grilled chicken breast that forms a base layer, followed by some fries that are crunchy on the exterior and fluffy on the interior, and finally a layer of crunchy and acidic pickles. The chicken is the weakest part of the dish - some pieces are overcooked, dry, and tough. It's most noticeable in the thickest areas where there's not enough mayo/garlic to add moisture to the sandwich. Still, overall I found the sub to be good and the ingredients all complemented each other well. Note: The little red tray that they served the sub in smelled heavily of bleach and my first couple of bites had a slight whiff of bleach thanks to that. If you eat here, I would recommend removing the food from the tray before eating. Zaghloul Subs is definitely worth a try.

Everything about the Philly was very good, but the bread roll really stood out to me...it was super soft & fresh but had a perfect, golden, thin, crispy crust on the exterior holding everything in place and giving just the right amount of crunch to every bite. It held up to the steamy steak and cheese like a champ without getting soggy, Solid sub. And this beast is big; half is enough to satiate almost any hungry appetite. I got mine to go, but the inside is bright & spacious with a ton of seating (but parking can be a challenge). This might also be one of the cleanest sub shops I've ever visited...absolutely spotless when I was there. While in the shop, I also got the pleasure of meeting Mike, who said he bought the place from Ricky a few years back. Mike seems to be a great dude who loves what he does and takes pride in his craft. He hooked me up with a sample of the red pepper relish, showed me what kind they use, and even told me where to buy it in bulk! He also shared some of their in-house Cajun seasoning, which was pretty tasty. Before I left, he gave me a heads up to be sure to hit Dearborn Sweets next door, and even some top selections to try (FWIW....he was right). I can't wait to come back and try some of their other subs! Shoutout and thanks to Mike for making it a great first visit!
