This was a go to pizza place when I lived in Detroit - it has New York style pizza with thinner dough. So don't expect Detroit style pizza. Of the two local kosher pizza options, this is the best in my opinion. They have a lot of topping options. I'm partial to the the Sephardic style pizza but pretty much everything is good even if some are a bit weird sounding. When we visited early last week they had no tables outside for eating so we just stood in the parking lot. But that might have been related to Passover prep. read more

The bagels are delicious. The tuna salad is great and the fruit salad is great. But my favorite thing about Jerusalem pizza is the people that work there I always stop by on my way to the Salvation Army where I buy lots of stuff to give away to people, to read, and to make my kitchen a better place. It's one of the special things about Oak Park. Even the owner is a great guy. read more

Made a stop here specifically because of the good Yelp reviews. Ordered a medium falafel pie to go, with 1/2 hummus and 1/2 tomato sauce. Pizza was finished within the quoted time frame and I loved the branded pizza box! Excellent balance of toppings, so tasty! But the thing that really stands out is the crust! Herbs worked into the entire dough make for an elevation of the usual pizza experience! Can't wait to try some of their other signature pies. read more

If you're ever in the Southfield area, I definitely recommend Jerusalem Pizza. It's not your typical greasy, NY style. It's not deep dish. It is delicious, though, and that's all that matters. There are several vegan, vegetarian, and kosher options, including mock meats and vegan cheeze. The only downfall is that I wanted to try all of the flavors! The cashew chick'n might sound a little too crazy, but I'm telling you it's amazing. Hopefully, I'll find another excuse to be in the area sometime soon! I recently stopped in for some Jerusalem Pizza and it was like reliving my college days all over again. I was a semi-regular here back then, but never had a good opportunity to return after I graduated. The sign has changed since then and I liked the older one better, but that's not so important. What is important is the pizza (and Jerusalem Bread). They were having some difficulties with their oven, which hopefully will be resolved soon, but that didn't dampen my enthusiasm for their pizza. I just baked it a little longer when I got home. I spoke to the manager and she was apologetic and sweet. I have a credit waiting for me next time I visit. The Jerusalem Bread is always the first thing I dive into. Love that rosemary and garlic sprinkled throughout the dough. I also ordered a Sephardic Calzone because I was wondering, "What does a Sephardic Calzone taste like?" Well, I'm glad I tried something new because all of its elements were in perfect harmony with each other. (Something I never thought I would say about a calzone.) It's a keeper in my book. The Falafel Pizza components also came together nicely. Sometimes it's fun to get it with Tehina instead of tomato sauce, but this time I went with tomato sauce and loved it. Everything had a clean taste. Jerusalem Pizza, even with your (hopefully short term) oven issues, you still have a special place in my heart. I'm holding a star with your name on it and I'd like to be able to give it back to you next time I come in. read more

Staff is super nice, my only company is that there was barely any veggie Canadian bacon on my pizza, I got maybe a glimpse of a taste of it. I guess I can understand though because it was a Supreme pizza but yea. Wouldn't recommend adding the veggie Canadian bacon if you already have more than 2 toppings. It's just going to get buried in the cheese and other flavors. Otherwise this is a totally solid pizza joint :) Definitely make sure to check with them about whether or not the veggie meat alternative they're using is vegan or not, they are happy to help! read more

This is a Metro Detroit kosher landmark. The pizza is pretty good, with lots of interesting variations offered such as sephardic, or falafel pizza. If you keep kosher, halal, or are interested in quirky vegetarian pizza options, this is a good place to try. The "meat" is all imitation. The fish is real. It's pretty much a carry out joint, there really isn't a place to sit and eat. Service is good. read more

This place is small and off the grid, but it's nothing but wonderful & big taste here. I love this place! Everything's fresh & it's kosher. They have tons of options, you can almost say endless. The staff was friendly The food was so awesome, like the pizza was the best I've had in years. So many vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options. They have really done a great job with keeping up with the world changing their eating habits! It's just enough sauce, just enough cheese! And plenty of toppings to go wild with, if you choose to build your own. They have some pretty good pre-made options as well. The cheese bread looks delicious! Did I mention that they have ice cream . I love this place I'll be back soon Make sure you stop and give this place a try if you're looking for an amazing pizza experience! read more

Jerusalem Pizza is possibly the most unique pizza place in the Detroit area. In my opinion, it is also one of the best. You have to go in with an open mind though, as it is a far cry from Detroit-style pizza (or Chicago-style, New York-style, conventional, Etc) This place caters to the dense population of Othodox Jews in the surrounding neighborhood. This strict religious group has unique dietary customs so for instance, no real meat is served here as it is not customary for meat and dairy (cheese) to be served together--not Kosher. Also, if you're looking for a pizza on Friday night you'll need to look elsewhere as Jerusalem is closed in observance of the Holy Sabbath. If you can deal with these eccentricities, great. If you yourself are an Orthodox (or otherwise devout) Jew, all the better. I can't get too carried away explaining the menu in detail as I honestly only ever get three things: Falafel Pizza, Jerusalem Bread, and bagels. The Falafel Pizza is insane. It's what keeps me coming back. You get your choice of traditional pizza sauce or tahini. Get the tahini. Take a bite and your life will be changed. The Jerusalem Bread--yum--probably my favorite breadsticks from any pizza place ever. They are the perfect amount of "garlicky" and chewy kind of like a good bagel. Very addictive. Speaking of good bagels... oh yeah... they serve bagels here every morning (except Saturday due to the Sabbath). GREAT bagels. I fancy myself a bagel connoisseur and these are in fact the best Bagels you'll find in Detroit aside from New York Bagel in Ferndale. Once they switch into pizzeria mode at lunchtime they stop making bagels, but you can usually still grab a leftover bagel late in the day if so inclined (the flavors will just be picked over). I strongly suggest checking this place out. Whether because you keep a Kosher diet, want to try some amazing vegetarian food, or simply want to try something unique and delicious. Just keep an open mind, be prepared to spend a bit more than you would at Little Caesar's, and by all means DO try the falafel pizza. read more

For Kosher & Vegetarian it was pretty decent. Great flavors! I had a hankering for pizza one day while at work....I drove around in the bitter cold looking for a party store or something that offered pizza slices, and not knowing where to go in the surrounding area, I came upon Jerusalem.....Did it kill my craving?...No...hahaha...Why I stopped here?...I'm not sure...but...in all honesty...I would go back in a heart beat.. Simply put...I like different....and Jerusalem was pleasantly different... I had the Falaffel pizza and it was....pleasantly different... People!! Please, this is not what "Detroit" Pizza is all about...sheesh! (to the reviewer who was from another state and thought this is what represents Detroit pizza...IT IS NOT!!!) BUT!!! It is good! Raw, yet friendly service...definitely a niche market, but as they say..."When in Rome" I say go...if this is up your alley (or in your needs)...You're in good hands! Shalom! read more

Jerusalem Pizza - Personal Falafel with tehina - Pizza Near Me - Southfield, Michigan

Jerusalem pizza is not your average pizza place. The entire menu is vegetarian and Kosher friendly. My vegetarian friend was happy to have an entire menu of options she could eat. We ordered two small pizzas to share: the potato and the falafel. We had a hard time picking as so many of the pizzas sounded interesting. Each one is a personal sized pie with four slices. There are only a couple of tables to eat at so plan on take out unless you are going at a non-meal time of the day. The falafel was different than I had expected. I was expected small falafel balls rather than the falafel spread across the pie. I thought it was good, but a bit dry. The potato pizza, with roasted potato, no sauce and rosemary, was wonderful. I would order it again, though, there we're several others I would go back and try. Besides pizza they have a variety of other items including calzones, sandwiches and bagels for breakfast. read more

Great good!!!!amazing bagels ....sooo fresh!!! The pizza is also out of this world!! Must go here

I finally had me some Jerusalem Pizza and I am so glad I did! I've been wanting to try them for years now but just never got around to it, partly because I crave pizza the most on Saturdays and when they of course aren't open. But with football finally back and giving me a reason to eat all day, besides brunch, I finally got some and it was so worth the wait! I'm a huge pizza fan (sometimes Stan) and have to fill myself with it's goodness at least once a week. Being a vegetarian means I get to be fun and creative with all my toppings but sometime you just want a good ol' fashioned, cheesy slice of pepperoni pizza. And since that's exactly what I was craving, I went ahead and fulfilled my need for it. They have A LOT of toppings and veggie options as well like baked eggplant, veggie pepperoni, veggie ground beef and a lot more (vegetarian pizza heaven, basically). So I got half cheese and pepperoni and half pepperoni with italian sausage, mushrooms, red onion pineapples and green peppers. I haven't had pepperoni on pizza in almost 5 years so this was most definitely a treat. I've had veggie pepperoni before, oddly enough never on pizza, so I knew what to expect but I didn't expect for it to taste so much like a regular ol' slice of pizza! It was amazingly cheesy and the pepperoni and italian sausage were absolutely perfect. I'm so grateful for Jerusalem Pizza for having vegetarian pizza toppings for delicious vegetarian pizza! read more

Great kosher pizza in Southfield. This place is always packed. I guess when your pizza is kosher you can afford to charge a little bit more and make people wait a little bit longer. This is delicious New York style pizza. Yes this location is kosher and they have a certification posted, so if you are Kosher know that this is the pizza parlor you have been looking for in Southfield. We love their bagels with a schmear and lox. The thing is, you just have to get there so early in order to get them before they sell out. Every morning when they open everyone that wants Bagels is lined up outside LOL well maybe not everyone but it seems like it. Even at 3 in the afternoon they have a wait. This place is great if you are Kosher and looking for a kosher nosh. One of the best pizzas I've tried from here has had turkey pepperoni fresh pineapple red onion green olives and loads of fresh mozzarella cheese. Be sure you call in your order in advance if you want to rush right in and get right out the door. Otherwise you're going to be waiting 30 to 45 minutes for your delicious pizza because it's made from scratch and that's the best way oh yeah! Big Thanks Jerusalem you guys know how to feed us kosher folks good read more

I seriously love Jerusalem Pizza, every time I come to Detroit I look forward to a personal pie with jalapeno peppers and some of their famous cheese sticks. This is not you're run of the mill kosher pizza store. Everything is made from scratch and everything is super fresh. The breads are piping hot out of the oven and the pizza is out of this world. I am not sure if they have thin crust, because their pizza is pretty thick. Since everything is made from scratch the wait can be long, they lost a star because they don't take credit cards (this is the new millennium come on guys) and in the last couple of years their cheese sticks have come filled with less and less cheese. read more

Verbatim re-enactment of the first time I checked out Jerusalem pizza many moons ago: Me: falaffel on pizza? Jerusalem pizza: yes it's ground chick pea with... Me: I know what falaffel is. You put it on pizza? JP: yes. Me: I love you. About 628 visits later I've pretty much covered almost the whole menu and it's all top notch. The kosher diet doesn't allow meat and cheese on the same dish apparently ( save your judgement of this for the talk section please...) but that doesn't stop JP from whipping up one mean pie. Toppings include everything from peanut butter ( Thai cashew pizza yes please) to fake Canadian bacon and back. All sorts of crazy specialty combos to choose from as well as some pretty standard hooks are available. Another fav of mine is the bread that is simply a pizza dough baked with herbs and crunchy kosher salt. Perfect. This place is worth the trip from any part of town. read more

I don't know what my problem is.......Everybody loves this crappy wheel except me. I know I am a picky / crusty old foodie wannabe poser douche bag, etc etc....but hell man, this stuff is nasty. I went here the other day & right when I walked in, people just stared at me and gave me mean looks. I kinda just smiled and pretended like I did not notice. I felt uncomfortable and like I did not belong. Maybe this was because I'm not Jewish & was dressed differently than all of them. Anyways, the food... I had a slice of their pizza and I wasn't a fan of the taste. About a half hour later, I developed an upset stomach. It's my family's favorite local restaurant! Perfect for vegetarians, with its 100% meat-free menu, there is something for everyone! From vegan salads to gluten-free pizza crust options, you can enjoy eating their delicious, health-conscious cuisine! Reasonable prices, fresh food, varied menu. Good for those dining alone, as a couple or a small group or family of 4-5. The limited eating space contains 2 tables for small groups & 3 tables that seat 2 people. The only drawback is the restroom is very small, yet clean, and hidden way back of the cooking/prep area of the store. read more

So I admit I'm occasionally a closet vegetarian. This place makes me forget that I'm not eating meat when I get pizza! The BBQ "chicken" pizza tastes just like any meaty version, or maybe even better. I also tried the Thai pizza, and while I can appreciate what they were doing, and the flavors were good, I don't think I'm ready for that food fusion just yet. Or maybe it's because I'm pregnant, I think the thai food should be on rice noodles and not on my pizza. Regardless of my tastes, we had company that night for dinner and they enjoyed all the pizzas and were shocked that they were both meatless. A friend of mine recommends the tuna salad there and the tomato soup as well, so those are next on my list. Once this pizza craving stops... in like 4 months, or so... read more
