Despite being located within a bowling alley, I've gone here more for the food than bowling. The pizzas are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the crust is hand-tossed to perfection. The pizza shop is located inside the bowling alley on Woodward. The location is really dope. When I looked at the menu, I was happy to see all of the options-pizzas, calzones, and salads. I tried the pepperoni pizza. Since I was trying a new restaurant, I only wanted to try like the most basic options today. The pizza was phenomenal. I also like that they had the seasonings available on the side so I added extra cheese, crushed peppers, and oregano. The pizza was already ready and sitting in the warmer, but it tasted really fresh. I would definitely go back to try more options and to bowl!!! read more

And he gives me a cop out excuse of "I'm sorry we're really busy right now so it's slices or cookies only." I just hung up and decided they're not worth my money. If these businesses don't even honor their cut off times or take orders when they're sposed to simply cause they don't feel like it because they're getting business, this'll be one less dime in their pockets. Terrible customer service. I called 3x and a girl mumbled in the phone and hung up within 3 seconds. The mumbling was not even audible English. I couldn't even ask her to repeat what she said because she hung up on me twice. Why list your phone number and hours of operation if you're not capable of accepting an order over the phone. There is the standard pepperoni + cheese pizza and they always have other options--veggie or meat lovers. Sgt. Pepperoni's knows how to make a pizza. It's greasy but delicious. The kind of pizza to be classified as a guilty pleasure. Located in front of the "garden bowl" this unassuming counter is surprising busy most nights. In my opinion the pizza is overpriced but that's not the issue. The real issue is the staff. The girl working the counter was nice but army of cronies working security were rude and made my check out process pretty unpleasant as they all decided to cut in front of me to get slices of pizza. We wanted two slices-- and it turns out that they had but two slices! And a good time was had by all. In this economy! The pizza is respectable, by Detroit standards. It's not that gooey, cheesy, doughy, enriched bleached white flour mess that they call "pizza" at Buddy's or Jet's. It does appear to be real pizza! It's not world-class, by any means, but that's not why you're going. You want fancy A-grade, you go to Supino's or Ottava Via. You want A-grade in a comparable price-point, you go to Sicily's in Southwest, or Belle Isle. But Sgt. Pepperoni's gets the job done. Do it up. read more

My family wanted pizza for dinner so I went to Sgt. Pepperoni's. I had attempted to go Monday night, but there must have been a concert or function because there was nowhere to park & I wasn't about to park 3 blocks down or pay to park in the lot for a pizza. I ordered the Majestic, The Roadie with cheese (that's for lunch so I haven't tried it, but it looks amazingly good!), cheese bread, & nachos with cheese (my kids fav. food) The Majestic was covered in toppings (see the pics) & the dough was rolled out with care (I watch the cook make it & he was very pleasant. The cheese tasted like real mozzarella and even had the hang time (you know when you bite a pizza and pull the slice back & the cheese is stretched out. Okay maybe you don't). Overall the Majestic was okay. It may have been the sauce that made me not jump for joy when I ate it. But it wasn't bad. If you are in the Garden Bowl bowling and drinking from the full bar then the pizza is gonna be great. Sgt. P gets a plus in my book because they carry slices of 3 different pizzas, in the event you don't want to buy one. My kid likes the personal cheese pizza, but I don't know a little kid that would complain about the taste of pizza. The cheese bread with marinara sauce is a winner. Golden brown crust and gooey cheese. Can't go wrong with that combination. The fries were shoe string and I could tell they seasoned them with salt & pepper. Can't complain since they were only $2. And the nachos with cheese were your basic nacho chips with melted cheese. Overall if I was downtown late night and needed a pizza or sandwich fix, I would stop by Sgt. Pepperoni's since they are open pretty late every night. I would do cheese bread or a calzone preferably. read more

Hot and big pizzas, excellent amount of pepperoni. Staff is friendly and efficient. Wish they had garlic knots but that is a personal thing. The atmosphere of the Magic Bag is terrific, Sgt.. What place delivers a salad with dressing already mixed in?! Soggy croutons, soggy lettuce. Every time i order a salad anywhere, dressing is always on the side. You know... Sgt Peps is like the type of place you'd expect to only enjoy when intoxicated... you'd be delightfully surprised to find it to be a amazingly good pizza when totally stone cold sober. The sauce is slightly sweet, and carries a wonder savory flavor across the loads of melty mozzarella cheese that seems to be endlessly stringy. It's truly one of my favorite pies in the area which is funny because I'm not really sure I'd ever get a whole one to go. It would almost taint the beauty of the late night nom. The prices are right and the cans of soda are a nice way to wash it down if you're trying to soak up the booze in your already sauced system (Coke AND Pepsi products too. Way to make everyone happy, Sarge). I've never tried any of the other eats but the rest of the menu looks pretty solid in terms of fast, late night food. My only complaint? On a busy night you sometimes have to wait for a new pizza to pop out of the oven before you can inhale your own piece. The first thing I noticed was the huge menu of specialty pizzas, there's something for everyone. The thin crust pizzas are great, the dough is almost like Indian naan. There's plenty of off beat pizzas that will satisfy any hipster's palate. The more traditional style pizzas are also exceptional. Sgt. Pepperoni's really captures what good Detroit pizza is. The dining area atmosphere is okay, there's a bar and most nights you'll hear music from upstairs or even on that floor. Overall, Sgt. Pepperoni's is worth a visit. I've tried to call and place an order more than once where they just never bothered to pick up the phone, and tonight some girl picked up the phone and couldn't even remember what pizza place she worked at before saying Pizza Papalis, then immediately telling me she was going to put me on hold before promptly hanging up on me.
