Have driven by daily. Finally tried their pizza. Excellent pizza. Crust was excellent. Best pizza in the Royal Oak/Birmingham area.

The long awaited Woodward Italian shop I have been SEEKING and SALIVATING. I made it, I'm here, let's talk about it. I only just found out it was pick-up only. You know damn well Yelpers that the number 1 rule about doing these reviews is this: NEVER DELIVER. It's just not the right way to experience it. You need the conversation, you need the interior, you need the cashier asking if you'd like to tip. (You know I'm joking, they don't ask. My fellow Berklians know that I ALWAYS tip 20%) When I walked in this couple already looked like they got into it. Atleast I know that if it's not love, or sadness being put into my pizza; it's ANGER. Beat that dough and smash those tomatoes. Slap that mootz onto that fresh pie, spank it a little. If your head doesn't look the color of a San Marzano making my pie... don't even bother. The crank hands me and my girlfriend the garlic bread. Bro. This might actually be some of the best bread I've ever had. It's like Canes with their sauce. Garlic bread is an incredibly overlooked component to a good pizza and I'm so happy that they put there ALL into making the best possible cheese bread. So delicious, it melts! The pizza was quite floppy, albeit, that was probably on me for leaving it in the box for more than 10 minutes. But the crust is chewy, the taste is pretty good. Tomatoes were a little bland, but that's probably a compliment to the cheese; like, hey look at me, f*** the tomato- look at me! I'm buffalo mozzarella, look how good I am. The penne pasta we got was VERY sweet, and cooked to perfection! The sauce was so sweet it almost tasted like it was TOO sweet. I literally had to add SALT to it like when should anyone ever have to do that to something overpowered by sweetness? Me of course cause clearly I wasn't thinking. It turned out to be spectacular though. I liked Grano, pretty good pizza at a monstrous price. But you can't deny, CLEANEST kitchen in the whole U.S. and definitely a lot of care put into their craft. There are 100% some maestro's coming out of that walk-in everyday, and like Tony Soprano's psychiatrist said, hope comes in many different forms. I love Italian-America, it's so dedicated. The pizza was good, not great. The ingredients were fresh and the dough had a good chew but it tasted almost sweet, maybe it was the sauce. Prices are too high, given there are lots of other good wood fired pizza joints in the area. For almost $30 per pie, my expectations were high, and left me wanting more. read more

Every order has been simply delicious. I do not like spinach, at all but the spinach pie here is everything I didn't know I needed. I add some grilled chicken and tomato and it's wonderful! The salads are big and fresh and enough for 3 meals for me. Their grilled chicken and hummus is so tasty. My only gripe is I wish a smaller size pie was available for 1or 2 people. They also make a great cheese pizza with fresh tomato sauce for the kids. Love the selection of toppings, and they're always spot on with their wait times. Order early and often! read more

I do wish none of the crust was burned, but other than those couple slices, the rest was perfect! They have a fridge with bottles of regular soda and a few cans of Italian soda! Tried this place on a whim and it was delicious! I had the Baked Penne Palmina which came with fresh focaccia bread that was so light and fluffy. My boyfriend had a pepperoni pizza with roasted garlic. The crust was delicious. He also ordered a Baked Penne Marinara which looked amazing but we were too full to try as the portions were generous. read more

I'm always up for trying a new pizza place, so when I saw the sign go up for this place, I knew we'd be giving it a try. They don't have online ordering up and running yet, but they were very efficient when we called. We went for something traditional and also tried the garlic pizza - both were very good. The prices are a little high, but it's nice to have another solid pizza spot on the Birmingham scene. read more

We have a contender folks! This is like Rocky Marciano vs Rocky Marciano. Tomatoes a pizza vs Grano pizzaiolo. This new kid on the block just served me up a strong 8.9 out of 10 pizza 90% no flop great crust, cooking bubbles, delicious sauce and toppings. The reigning champ tomatoes all of the above with slightly tastier sauce coming in at 8.7 with a more unruly flop factor. You cant go wrong with either one but the new kids got something up his sleeve and thats a bottom crust that is just slightly crunchy, you can actually hear it and that harkens back to what made ny pizza so good. No other pizza around here has this quality. If you haven't had either try both, if you love tomatos a pizza give this a shot like i did, theres room for both these delicious pies in my life with an honorable mention to the reopened primos coming in at a solid 8 and their late night slices yum. read more

By far the very best pie in the area. I drive by 7 pizza places on my way there. Meatball is amazing, Sausage is outstanding, but it's the thin crust and the silky smooth sauce all baked to perfection. This pie really comes together! We ordered a custom vegetarian pie and a house salad last night. Absolutely delicious! We usually get a meat pie, but were abstaining from meat during Lent. The ingredients are top notch - both salad and the pie. It is a treat to order from here. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. The owner is the chef, and I assume his hard working wife managing the counter and I assume his son working the oven. I rank this as one of the best pizzas in Metro Detroit! read more
