Great spot for grabbing pizza by the slice, especially to go. The slices taste fresh with a nice wood-fired flavor, and it's great that they offer halal options. Stopped in the other day to pick up some slices for lunch. This was my first time coming back since the reno (I know... some time now) and it was still very much the Brooklyn Pizza I grew up with but much bigger now with more seating (on the gelato/bar side). I didn't wait long to get my slices. I ordered 2 buffalo chicken slices and 2 pepperoni slices. The total was $24 and some change. Yikes. Didn't realize I was transported to NYC when I entered this establishment. Tre pizza was good. Crust had a good flavor and toppings were nice. That being said, there was some flop (a touch crispier would've gone a long way) and the amount of toppings was a bit lacking for a whopping $6 slice. We ordered standard pizza, one small pepperoni, and one cheese with vegan cheese instead of cow cheese. Both in size small. They came out pretty quickly and were just enough size for one person. Both were quite tasty. The dough was good and quite thin but not as much as we would like and was more "bready". Crispellis prze is far superior and cheaper, too. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but if I had to choose, I'll stay with Crispellis. The staff was friendly, but the place was kinda mess, not the cleanest, and it was a little confusing where to get things, how to order. Nobody pays much attention to you. I have been coming here ever since I was a child and I have seen the evolution of this restaurant. This has always been my favorite spot for a New York style pizza - especially the margarita pizza! I have yet to find another pizza place that will top their margarita pizza. I love that with the new renovation they added a bar and made the place feel much more open. The service is super quick if you are coming to grab a slice - but if you are ordering a whole pizza -expect a bit of a wait. This is a place where you sit down and have a slice or take it to go. We love doing takeout from Brooklyn! Parking is kind of a situation, so we try to have one person circle the block while the other goes inside- downtown Birmingham parking is hit or miss. The pizza is really good- love the buffalo chicken pizza specifically. I know you can eat at the restaurant and get pizza by the slice, I've just personally never done that. There's also a bar in the restaurant. Some nights, the "wait time" when you order a pizza deters us from ordering. We end up going somewhere we can get food more quickly. I really can't understand how they stay in business. I've never been much of a fan but I gave them another try today and I can stay for sure, it's the last time . The pizza is just plain terrible. My rating equals the price for a sprinkle of parm. That's right- it's a $1.00 for a sprinkle of Parmesan. Brooklyn Pizza is under new ownership and it shows. The slices are expensive ($5.40 for a CHEESE slice) and they are smaller. I've never been to a single pizzeria that charges for a sprinkle of Parmesan! Even Costco gives you as many packets as you want for free. I laughed and left. It's no wonder the place was empty on Monday at noon. Go anywhere else. Crispelli's is better and cheaper. Slice on Willits is better and cheaper. Even Little Caesars is better and cheaper. If you want that sprinkle of Parmesan on your pizza, you'll pay more at Brooklyn for one cheese slice than you'd pay for an entire pizza at Little Caesars. What a shame to watch the demise of a Birmingham treasure. I hope that $1 is worth it. read more

I went to get a quick dinner with my partner. It was very busy. We ordered 2 slices each and a Michigan salad. The pizza was ok at best. We had their pizza before and it was better in the past. My salad was missing most of the ingredients. It did not have apples or cherries, instead it had craisins. On top of the mediocre food, when we paid, my partner chose a tip option and without us noticing, the tip changed back to its default setting. Brooklyn Pizza is a fast casual restaurant. Not sure what's going on at one of our favorite spots. But prices increased, slower service, pizza was cold and the size of the slices of pizza are dramatically smaller. One of our slices was almost 1/2 the size of the other and overall all 6 slices we bought were smaller than normal. So paying more for less! I think there might be newer ownership and if so they need to get back to their roots and what made them a staple in the Bham community in a hurry. read more

I've been recommended to try Brooklyn Pizza a handful of times in recent months. Finally had a chance to try it yesterday! Brooklyn Pizza is located about two blocks from Old Woodward in beautiful downtown Birmingham. Brooklyn offers delicious NY style pizza (and they even sell pizza by the slice too!) The place itself is a lot bigger than I anticipated. They do offer a few tables inside and even have outdoor seating if you'd like to enjoy your pizza on their outdoor patio. Their pizza is NY style, wood fired pizza and it's AMAZING! Every pizza on their menu can be made with a gluten-free cauliflower crust and they do have vegan toppings (including cheese.) I've only had slices -- pepperoni, as well as the 4 cheese option. Both were amazing. The 4 cheese was a game changer. I look forward to trying a whole pizza pie soon! read more

The best New York style pizza that you can get outside of New York. It is more expensive than other generic chain places but it is worth it. The pizzas are huge and delicious. On busy nights, expect to wait about 40-60 minutes for pizza. But once you taste it, you won't be disappointed. The have a ton of gelato and sorbet available. I truly enjoy Brooklyn Pizza. When you first enter near the bar; it's so bright and airy. The staff is so welcoming and the options for ice cream and alcoholic drinks are abundant. The NY style pizza is closer to a chewy, thin crust that has just the right amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings. Lately, I've been getting two large slices (1 buffalo chicken and 1 pepperoni add Mike's Hot Honey and fresh basil). That's enough to keep me full after lunch. Out of the speciality drinks advertised in the windows. Just a really weird service expierence. Would not recommend. Items came out in a really weird order. They need to get additional help. It looks like it's set up to order and get items at the counter. We got 1 item at the counter and they said they were going to bring the rest of the items. They brought two, we had to go to another part of the establishment to get my sons drink, and then back inside to get my youngest son's ice cream. It was just confusing. The tables outside were all tilted so half of your drink would spill while they were sending it on the table. Was having a good Father's Day until I went to this place. It just slowly sucked the joy out of the middle of our day. The food and drinks were average. Couldn't tell if it was a place where you have a waiter/waitress, counter, service, or self service. Yikes. I'm going to try and be as honest as I can. I went on the night of the tree lighting so it was packed. I had pizza from here once before and I remember it being pretty good. They forgot a couple small things on my order (garlic knots, worth 3 bucks so not worth going back) My biggest problem was the Pizza, because it was one of the saddest pies I've eaten in a long time. It was strange because it was both undercooked and burnt at the same time. Crust (not under, but the ring around the outside was jet black and inedible). I like some char but this hit the garbage as soon as we were done with each piece. There was such flop, it was like the inside of a soft pretzel. Doughy, and just raw.
