Stopped in the other day to pick up some slices for lunch. This was my first time coming back since the reno (I know... some time now) and it was still very much the Brooklyn Pizza I grew up with but much bigger now with more seating (on the gelato/bar side). I didn't wait long to get my slices. I ordered 2 buffalo chicken slices and 2 pepperoni slices. The total was $24 and some change. Yikes. Didn't realize I was transported to NYC when I entered this establishment. Tre pizza was good. Crust had a good flavor and toppings were nice. That being said, there was some flop (a touch crispier would've gone a long way) and the amount of toppings was a bit lacking for a whopping $6 slice. Having lived in Brooklyn for a while, I was excited to try a place named after one of my favorite places in the world. The buffalo chicken pizza was good, but nothing incredible. I also opted to get a slice and not a fresh pie, to be fair. The slice was served quick and warm from when I ordered, which is always great. Everyone who worked there was nice and polite. I wanted to try this place for years and finally got a chance. I'm very happy they do offer vegan cheese as an option. We ordered standard pizza, one small pepperoni, and one cheese with vegan cheese instead of cow cheese. Both in size small. They came out pretty quickly and were just enough size for one person. Both were quite tasty. The dough was good and quite thin but not as much as we would like and was more "bready". Crispellis prze is far superior and cheaper, too. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but if I had to choose, I'll stay with Crispellis. The staff was friendly, but the place was kinda mess, not the cleanest, and it was a little confusing where to get things, how to order. Nobody pays much attention to you. I have been coming here ever since I was a child and I have seen the evolution of this restaurant. This has always been my favorite spot for a New York style pizza - especially the margarita pizza! I have yet to find another pizza place that will top their margarita pizza. I love that with the new renovation they added a bar and made the place feel much more open. The service is super quick if you are coming to grab a slice - but if you are ordering a whole pizza -expect a bit of a wait. This is a place where you sit down and have a slice or take it to go. There's not too much seating and no reservations as you order at the counter. 10/10 pizza though and that's all that matters! read more

We love doing takeout from Brooklyn! Parking is kind of a situation, so we try to have one person circle the block while the other goes inside- downtown Birmingham parking is hit or miss. The pizza is really good- love the buffalo chicken pizza specifically. I know you can eat at the restaurant and get pizza by the slice, I've just personally never done that. There's also a bar in the restaurant. Some nights, the "wait time" when you order a pizza deters us from ordering. We end up going somewhere we can get food more quickly. Guess it says something about the food if there's such a long wait. Great option for pizza in the Birmingham area! I'd recommend it. read more

I really can't understand how they stay in business. I've never been much of a fan but I gave them another try today and I can stay for sure, it's the last time . The pizza is just plain terrible. How do you make a pizza that's burned on the bottom yet totally soggy with cheese that's barley melted, not to mention flavorless and bland? I took 2 bites and walked right over to a garbage can. I went to get a quick dinner with my partner. It was very busy. We ordered 2 slices each and a Michigan salad. The pizza was ok at best. We had their pizza before and it was better in the past. My salad was missing most of the ingredients. It did not have apples or cherries, instead it had craisins. On top of the mediocre food, when we paid, my partner chose a tip option and without us noticing, the tip changed back to its default setting. Brooklyn Pizza is a fast casual restaurant. My rating equals the price for a sprinkle of parm. That's right- it's a $1.00 for a sprinkle of Parmesan. Brooklyn Pizza is under new ownership and it shows. The slices are expensive ($5.40 for a CHEESE slice) and they are smaller. I've never been to a single pizzeria that charges for a sprinkle of Parmesan! Even Costco gives you as many packets as you want for free. I laughed and left. It's no wonder the place was empty on Monday at noon. Go anywhere else. Crispelli's is better and cheaper. Slice on Willits is better and cheaper. Even Little Caesars is better and cheaper. If you want that sprinkle of Parmesan on your pizza, you'll pay more at Brooklyn for one cheese slice than you'd pay for an entire pizza at Little Caesars. What a shame to watch the demise of a Birmingham treasure. I hope that $1 is worth it. read more

Not sure what's going on at one of our favorite spots. But prices increased, slower service, pizza was cold and the size of the slices of pizza are dramatically smaller. One of our slices was almost 1/2 the size of the other and overall all 6 slices we bought were smaller than normal. So paying more for less! I think there might be newer ownership and if so they need to get back to their roots and what made them a staple in the Bham community in a hurry. read more

One of my favorite pizza places in Michigan! It truly is NY style pizza. I love their pepperoni pizza (which is beef pepperoni) and it is always my go to! They have a lot of seating inside since they expanded with some outdoor seating as well. Service is always fast and great. Highly recommend coming here! read more

I've been recommended to try Brooklyn Pizza a handful of times in recent months. Finally had a chance to try it yesterday! Brooklyn Pizza is located about two blocks from Old Woodward in beautiful downtown Birmingham. Brooklyn offers delicious NY style pizza (and they even sell pizza by the slice too!) The place itself is a lot bigger than I anticipated. They do offer a few tables inside and even have outdoor seating if you'd like to enjoy your pizza on their outdoor patio. Their pizza is NY style, wood fired pizza and it's AMAZING! Every pizza on their menu can be made with a gluten-free cauliflower crust and they do have vegan toppings (including cheese.) I've only had slices -- pepperoni, as well as the 4 cheese option. Both were amazing. The 4 cheese was a game changer. I look forward to trying a whole pizza pie soon! read more

The best New York style pizza that you can get outside of New York. It is more expensive than other generic chain places but it is worth it. The pizzas are huge and delicious. On busy nights, expect to wait about 40-60 minutes for pizza. But once you taste it, you won't be disappointed. The have a ton of gelato and sorbet available. I would highly recommend the watermelon chip! It's funky but delightful. Their new bar is absolutely gorgeous and the bartenders are very personable and knowledgeable. First time trying. The set up is cool. Bar area right as you come in off of Maple with the pizza area on the back with a wood burning oven and all. You can get slices of pizza of garlic knots, or order whole pizzas. We chose to try the 'Brooklyn'. The guy who helped us was quick but friendly. Thin crust, the creamy goat cheese was indeed creamy. The dough gets a very thin, crispy face with extravagant tasting sauce and a perfect layer of toppings that's not overwhelming for the crust to maintain but very good undercarriage. What happened! This was our go-to pizza place for years. A few minutes walk from home and I felt like I was back home in the Bronx, getting a slice from the window. It's all about the crust - yeast rise, crispy and chewy all at the same time. Now? The crust is bready. Perhaps the dough has not been kneaded enough to release the gluten? Or a quicker prepared recipe all together? Such a shame. The flavor is still nice, but it is NOT the same crust we are used to from Brooklyn Pizza and definitely not NY style. So sad. read more
