Thinly-sliced turkey on a crusty roll.
    Ann W.

I typically get something from the salad bar at work for lunch: lettuce, cherry tomatoes, a few black olives, and grilled chicken cubes. However, I was picking up my car from the dealership and realized that the deli was less than 2 miles from work. What luck! A few quick turns and I was pulling into one of the parking spots out front. The deli is small, with a small refrigerated case displaying a few sides. Two lovely people were managing the lines. One, who was assembling the subs and the other who rang up the orders. The menu is quite simple. You need to decide on the number of deli slices and cheeses, as well as the bread type. For example, if you want 5 meats and 1 cheese, it would be a 5x1. I had a 6x2 on a hard roll. The end result was quite good. The roll was fresh and crusty, loaded with deli meats and cheese, lettuce and thinly-sliced tomatoes, no onions, and Italian dressing. It was so good (for the soul) and definitely better tasting than my usual salad. Service was exceptionally quick. By the time I was done placing my order, the sandwich was in front of me, ready to go.

Not a Turkey sub like I asked

I asked for a Turkey sub I got something else. I advised I can't come eat this sub and now I'm out $8.60 for a sub I can't eat. No attempt to rectify the situation. Plus the shop is noisy unable to understand or hear the manager correctly. No lunch for me today. Manager is rude and extremely confrontational. Does not take responsibility for their action. Thank you Gonella for ruining my Friday.

Went in today and ordered a couple hard roll 6&2s, but after we got home, we noticed they mistakenly made 5&1s, which were tasty, but definitely not as good. Too much bread, not enough filling. We asked about the different refrigerated salads and they said the pasta and mustard-potato were both homemade. We went with the $2 mustard potato and found it tasted far too sweet. I wouldn't order it again. They said the red skin potato was most popular.

We started with the Kale Caesar Salad, which was crisp, fresh, and perfectly dressed not overly heavy but still packed with flavor. The Bang Bang Shrimp had the ideal balance of crispy texture and creamy heat, and the Halloumi Cheese was grilled beautifully with that salty, savory bite that makes it addictive. The standout for me was the Short Rib Pappardelle rich, tender, melt-in-your-mouth short rib layered over perfectly cooked pasta. It's comforting but elevated. The Whole Deboned Branzino was incredibly fresh and flaky, cooked to perfection with clean, bright flavors that didn't overpower the fish. We also had the Honey Zaatar Salmon, which was such a unique combination slightly sweet, herbaceous, and perfectly balanced. And don't skip the truffle fries crispy, aromatic, and impossible to stop eating. And let's talk about the mocktails absolutely amazing. Creative, refreshing, and beautifully presented. It's rare to find a place that puts this much thought into non-alcoholic drinks, and Tiliani nailed it. From the food to the atmosphere to the overall energy, this place is a solid five stars. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to for both a fun night out and a relaxed dinner with friends.

The sauce is tart and a little sweet and there are small chunks of tomatoes here and there which infuse even more flavor with each bite. If you hold up a slice for a little CSI: Pizza action, you're going to see a firm "V" shape on the side profile with a slight bend towards the tip of the slice. As far as I'm concerned, the classics are the way to go. I would say "The Don" is the overall crowd pleaser with a little more cheese than the basic pep but I think I've permanently been converted to the "Moe Greene". It's simple, there's plenty of cheese, and you get to really enjoy the bread and sauce. The "Fredo" is also good if you want something a little different. It has a small dusting of hot sauce and a generous amount of diced chicken and a drizzling of ranch. The chicken and hot sauce are well balanced so you don't feel like you're chugging a bottle of Franks with your pizza. They've added outdoor seating since opening, the indoor wait area can get a little crowded, the wait times can be a little long during peak hours, and the drive to Melvindale isn't short. All those caveats aside, it's absolutely worth the trip and the wait.

It's a small restaurant but runs pretty efficiently. There aren't a lot of great seating options, so I think carryout is probably the way to go here. Or else arrive at opening or go during a non-holiday period. This place, despite the size, has a lot of personality and clearly a lot of repeat customers. In my short visit, I saw several people borrow one of the silver sharpies on the counter to write a message on the bricks, walls, counter, etc. The whole restaurant is covered with people's graffiti, which is kind of great because it just shows how much it is loved that people want to be part of it. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, which was big enough to feed three people with light appetites. All three of us were very pleased with the quality and quantity of the pepperoni. The pizza was also served with fresh basil, which is a very nice touch. I personally think the crust and sauce could be a bit more flavorful, but it was still a very good pizza overall. I highly recommend Fredi the PizzaMan but caution that there might be a bit of a wait and/or lines.

(Ordering from their website, you'd think the parking lot would be lit -- in at least two ways -- but it's next to a brewery Nice brewery and all, but Bistro seems a bit out of place... not the brewery.) Pickup was seemless. Anyhow, the lettuce seemed fresh, and there was some dark lettuce in there too. The chicken was very moist... and not much evidence of grilling. Not bad, tho, if you're hungry -- it was all right. Probly perfect for some. The dressing is something that we think could turn an otherwise decent salad into 4-5 stars... what they've got going on today, their "creamy Parmesan vinaigrette" is... well, it's just creamy. Maybe there's parmesan flavoring in it? It's OK, just very bland. Maybe their loyal clientele love it! Finally, to top it off, literally: "grilled pesto pita". You get one of these little slices hot of the grill and they might be edible. Beyond two minutes?... they turned into tiny triangular pucks. Seemed like a small pita to begin with too. Overall, decent. Not bad, definitely not great... which is too bad, we really want to love this place!
