This would be a hell of a place to open a sub and pizza shop. Judging from the plethora of other 1-star reviews, my experience is not at all unusual. My first visit. Orders are place at a window. You must press a button to get their attention. I pressed the button once; for precisely one-Mississippi. No beep, beeps. No tapping on the window.. About 20 seconds later the window opens with vigor (anger?) and the worker (owner?) shouts, "YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT! YOUR ORDER WILL BE READY WHEN IT'S READY!" I mumble, "I have not placed an order yet." There is an awkward long pause ... I politely say that I'll eat elsewhere. First time going here for myself, always knew they had great food. Got a sub from another planet, it was a number 8. While I waited he gave me some pasta salad, looking at it I wasn't thrilled mainly Im picky with vegetables. He gave me a free sample of the pasta, which was so damn good! I enjoyed that while I waited. Pizza was cooked to perfection. The subs were even right on point. You can taste every ingredient and one doesn't overpower the other. This is what good food should taste like. Tony used to be cheesy, now I will never visit his establishment again. After I ordered a #3 combo and was giving 9 fries, i counted, yes i counted. He told me that was the lunch special. So i asked for pasta instead, Tony gave me the pasta and said its an upcharge. Okay, fine whatever, but he didnt charge me. I then asked what kind of deserts they had he told me i dont have nothing for your kind as he was closing the window. This was a pretty good Chicago Style pizza shame there's a lack of pictures on Yelp... I ordered the Hawaiian which had black olives, pineapple, bacon and ham. After it came out of the oven I suggested banana peppers along with red crushed peppers for next time and Tony went ahead to add them at no charge!! Thanks Tony who is still the owner and is still cooking after 31 years. Decent humor still for someone in the business that long haha This pie gives a great combination of sweet, sour and spicy which is a very ying yang approach. Sometimes I'll add feta or maybe remove the ham!?! Plenty of options... just ask Tony! Either way this is my favorite type of pizza the only complaint was something typical with these larger/thicker pies in that it's hard to heat up thoroughly. They are just carry out, but that is perfect so you can eat your giant sandwiches while wearing expandable elastic pants at home. I love this place. I always get the same thing- a #1 sub and the 16 pc garlic stix. For months I've never had a single complaint until today. The garlic stix were not fresh at all and look slightly over cooked. I even gave the appearance the benefit of the doubt, but it tasted over cooked and old. I called to let them know they weren't fresh and I was disappointed, and to add insult to injury I was told they'd let the boss know and they hung up on me. I come here often but the customer service is terrible. And even worse, the two subs I ordered, the bread was undercooked!! :( I think it's time to take a break from coming here. This place has fell off I had the super Italian sub Paid $47.00 for it and it was not like it use to be these people rob me of a Christmas Eve sub for my family it was actually 2 poppy seed loaf of bread with about maybe a pound of meat inside slice paper thin even the tomatoes was sliced paper thin onions paper thin lettuce very very little sub sauce barely taste it man this was a big disappointment to give you an ideal the lettuce. Tomatoes and onions if weight together would have come out to about 3 oz the sauce 2 table spoons so the sub was about 3 inches thick and the ingredients where about an 1/8 thick if that man they took inflation to another level do not buy anything from this place you are going to get what you pay for they will be going out of business in the next 2 years or less wake up people read more
