Everything here is "family". The service is friendly, the ambience is friendly and the food is delicious and consistent.

The place is small, kinda dark, with friendly people. The minestrone soup was good. The bread was okay, and my cheese pizza was decent. Bad - I would never go back. First, the lasagna was hard in the middle. Some of the noodles were hard, and overcooked, and some of the meat inside was burnt. It had absolutely no flavor. The chicken Alfredo-- all three of them-- was dry. We asked for more sauce, but it was still dry. The noodles were hard, and the pieces of chicken were super hard. It lacked salt and flavor. We couldn't even eat it. The chicken piccata, when it first came out, I knew it was wrong. On top, there were three battered pieces of chicken with no sauce, and the angel hair noodles had no sauce and lots of water at the bottom because they didn't drain the pasta. There were no capers, no lemonade, no sauce. I had to send it back. The same goes for the veal piccata-- it was just three pieces of fried meat with waterlogged noodles and no sauce. The chicken cacciatore also had heavily breaded chicken. The chicken and broccoli had a little more sauce and less dryness, but the noodles were really heavy. Basically, this was a bust and a complete waste of money. If it wasn't for seeing my family, this place was awful. I told my dad to have everything sent back and not pay for it, but he was nice. We did send back the chicken piccata and veal piccata because it was disgusting. Even the waitress said that this wasn't right-- it was supposed to have a creamy sauce, but it was watered down by the noodles. My family always eats chicken Alfredo and isn't very picky, but my sister-in-law didn't eat any of hers because it was absolutely disgusting. They should definitely reimburse our money and improve at making proper Italian food. read more

My husband and I ordered Doordash from here earlier this week and we're not disappointed. We both ordered the 3 dish sampler (Tour of Italy, I think?) with different options. I had chicken Parm, eggplant park, and lasagna. He had chicken Parm, lasagna, and ravioli. We also ordered the antipasti salad. Everything was delicious but I particularly liked the eggplant. I do wish it came with a side of pasta underneath it but there was more than enough food. Honestly each meal was enough for two meals. The marinara sauce used was very good - not too sweet! While I really enjoyed the meat and cheese on the salad, the rest was basically just lettuce. It was pretty 'meh' and I don't think I'd order it again. The complimentary garlic bread sticks were also 'meh.' almost no flavor. But once you dip it in marinara you can't really tell there's no garlic or salt on them. I had never been to this location before yesterday and I'd have to say I was quite pleased and surprised. I was there with a party of six for a birthday celebration and everyone ordered something different on the menu. The portions were generous in size and everyone enjoyed their meals and had leftovers to take home. I had ordered the pizza and was very pleased with it and really loved the crust. Okay, I haven't been here in probably 25 years (dang I'm getting old!). The inside is pretty much exactly as I remember - it's clean and dimly light). The service was outstanding. We had a great waiter, he was actually a lot of fun and he took great care of us. He never rushed us and he kept our beverages full. The chicken tortilla soup was surprisingly delightful (I had that per the waiter's recommendation). Pizza was delicious - a good old fashioned pizza with plenty of ingredients, a perfect crust (not too thick, not too thin, and nice flavor). The lasagna was very good (my homemade lasagna is better - but for an Italian restaurant, it was good and I would get it again). They also had a ton of desserts! The list of cakes and pies was long. We ended up with a red velvet cake and a Boston cream cake (yes, cakes not pie). I will not be waiting another 25 years before I'm back! (The only photo I took was of one dessert). Came here for the first time recently and it was great. They got a dish where you get to pick 3 different things from a pretty big list (I did chicken parm, lasagna, and ravioli) which is really neat. Nothing too fancy just solid, good food. And everything is pretty much $18-20 unless you want steak or lobster. read more

My family has been coming here for over 50 years! We love this family owned restaurant. We did many carry outs during the pandemic and we finally dined inside the restaurant again tonight. Mike, one of the owners, was so pleased to see us again. It's so nice to go somewhere and be recognized/remembered. Always amazing service. Abby took care of our table tonight and was so friendly and attentive. We love their cheese, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza. The pepperoni is the fabulous old world pepperoni that curls up at the ends. You get a choice of fresh or canned mushrooms on your pizza. The manicotti is perfection. So cheesy and delicious. My mom enjoyed the cannelloni. Family owned recipes and you can taste the quality of ingredients. The salads are very fresh and their homemade Ranch dressing is my favorite. You also get delicious warm bread and butter delivered to your table. We enjoyed glasses of Merlot with our meal. Excellent! We ended with cannolis and pistachio cake. Sooooooo good!! My food was luke warm when it came out. Waitress never came back to ask how our food was. I felt like I would have got better food at Olive Garden and I am not a fan of Oliver Garden. The food and service were great, the vibe is basic neighborhood restaurant with booths and tables; they could use some candlelight. Fair prices, good portions, and perfectly cooked pasta with homemade meat sauce. Excellent pours on second drinks. Winning! We went with a group of 6 on a Saturday night, and while they were busy, we were seated right away and our waitress came and spoke to us almost immediately. Drinks came out fast, and overall, the service was excellent. She was friendly and working hard; I'd look forward to having her serve us again. As for food, the minestrone soup is SO good, I highly recommend. Savory, homemade and hot. Decent salads with homemade dressings. We also ordered the buffalo wing special which was good, but not great. Frozen wing dings tossed in a yummy homemade buffalo sauce; but they do have the good ranch and were fried perfectly. I really wish this special was done with whole wings, because I'd definitely return sooner. Everyone was happy with their meals, my Mom loved her chicken picatta, which is always her favorite, and the beef short rib special was very tender and had this great tomato-ey, slow cooked sauce. Delicious. We also ordered pizza, and I'd for sure come back just for that. It's perfect traditional round pizza with crispy, chewy crust and good quality toppings. Yum! Thank you Mama Mia's for being consistently good for over 20 years!!! I first ate here in my 20's when my family lived nearby. Now in my old age, I've moved back to the area and was delighted to see this restaurant is still in business. I ordered my usual favorites and everything was as delicious as I remembered. It's very rare that a restaurant stays consistently good for so long. I think by now I've ordered everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. We went to Mama Mia's last night. The server was fantastic. The food was Meh. We paid $18 for 2 pieces of manicotti. The parsley spring was almost as big as the 2 pieces. The sauce was had been sitting too long and was super salty and bitter. My guess is sugar or carrots weren't added to stabilize the sauce. Manicotti Is my favorite thing to get at an Italian restaurant. Normally it comes in a oval crock with 4 pieces and nice browned cheese. read more

I ordered Vegetarian Lasagna with a side of Caesar salad, and it came with complimentary bread. First off let me say the salad was good, they put loads of shredded Parmesan in my salad, which I loved. And the bread was marvelous. However, I was super disappointed to find the Vegetarian Lasagna to be much too salty for me, especially the sauce. If I tried to eat it with the bread, then the bread helped me bare with the saltiness a little bit. I expected the lasagna to have a better balance of flavors. My husband and I were on an impromptu date so we decided to stop here. He & I were thrilled with the decision. Our waitress was new but very courteous and friendly. The food was hot and fresh. We had an appetizer of fried zucchini, dinner was a custom pie, and dessert was cannolis! We enjoy consistently good food and generous portions at Mama Mia's. There were 4 of us today. Three of us ordered varieties of the Trio. It was all absolutely delicious. Our fourth had Chicken Marsala over angel hair and pronounced it fabulous. There was one dessert of spimoni that looked tasty and apparently was. The pizza is hard to pass up, but today it was pasta. Ordering from the specials menu is such a good value since you get soup and salad. The Creamy Garlic dressing is the perfect choice. Save some sauce on the plate to dip the breadsticks in! My old lady really wanted me to drop 4 or 5 stars on this place but I just couldn't do it. Growing up in Redford, this is her childhood memory and as such I think her fondness for the nostalgia clouds her subjectivity a smidge. It's not that anything was that bad, it's just that nothing was really that great. Anything anyone got with red sauce tasted and looked exactly the same. My lasagna tasted just like the cannelloni which tasted just like the baked angel hair that tasted like the.... The exception was the cream of chicken soup, that shit was awesome! Part of me wishes it was a food service product and not homemade so I could buy it to keep in the freezer, really delicious. I'm not really a ranch person either (Blue Cheese Fo Life Fool!) but they had really good ranch as well if that's your artery clogger of choice. Out of respect for my family I won't beat Mama up on the ambiance but, lets just say that some re-upholstering and cleaning wouldn't be a terrible thing. One thing I will say about the place though is that I was shocked to see they still had a towel machine in the bathroom. I am sure anyone under 30 who is reading this has no idea what I am talking about. But for the youth, a towel machine is a box on the wall that has a single linen towel looped on it that everyone gets to share. And when you are done, the portion you used is suppose to go up inside this magic box and some how become cleaned/sanitized for the next user. If anyone had a grandpa who carried a snot rag in his pocket everywhere he went - it's kinda like that. Please, please, please Mama get Papa to put in an air dryer or some paper towels. I beg you. Listen, it's been around a long time and when we were there it was still busy so, they have to be doing something right. It's just not my kind of Italian place. I suspect Mama Mia's will make most people who come here very happy and like I said, I wasn't unhappy I just wouldn't make this first choice for Italian in the area. read more
