We visited Black Label Tavern on a Friday evening, and it wasn't too crowded when we arrived. Unfortunately, the service got off to a slow start. We waited about 10 minutes without being greeted or seated, even though several servers noticed us. Eventually, someone seated us, but it was a disappointing first impression. We ordered the rosemary truffle fries, onion rings, and a wood-fired hand-tossed pizza, customized with our choice of toppings. They don't modify any of their alcoholic drinks to make virgin versions. The food took a while to arrive, but everything came out together. The onion rings were crispy and enjoyable, and the pizza was good. The rosemary truffle fries, however, were just okay and lacked the flavor we expected. As the evening went on, the restaurant slowly filled up, with the bar area becoming completely packed. I don't usually leave long reviews, but this experience was unbelievably bad, especially for a Monday when the place wasn't even busy. Things actually started off fine. Our server was friendly and attentive... for the first five minutes. Then everything fell apart. My wives's first glass of wine came out looking like it had been grabbed from another table, smudges and lip marks all over the rim. I asked for a replacement, and even the server said, "Yeah, I wouldn't drink from that either." Not exactly reassuring, but fine. Then the food arrived... with no silverware. We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, I had to flag down a completely different server just to get utensils. At this point, I realized the "replacement" wine never came back, either. When our server finally resurfaced, I reminded her, she had totally forgotten. Over halfway through the meal, the new wine shows up... and the glass is somehow grosser than the first one. Lip smudges again. I would've said something, but she never returned. You can see from the empty water glasses, we just kinda were left there. To top it off, we had to get another server just to bring the bill. When our server did come back and I pointed out the dirty wine glass, her response wasn't an apology. It wasn't concern. It was just: "Oh." That's it. Just oh. This used to be a solid spot, but it's been the same menu forever, the menus themselves are beat up, and half the bar tables wobble. It reminds me of Doc Sports in Livonia, a place that used to be good, but the owners made enough money and stopped caring, stopped updating anything, and it slowly died of old age. Sadly, this place feels like it's on that same path. The decline shows, and after this experience, I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

Black Label Tavern is really easy to find and it's easy to park. Inside it's fun and friendly, with kind and attentive staff. We all ordered a celebratory cocktail. They did a great job on the drinks. Then all four of us ordered salmon, lol, and the portion was huge it came with two sides, and you could swap for whatever you wanted. Did mashed potatoes and asparagus, and it was all perfect. It looked like it had an awesome happy hour crowd, but would be great for any type of visit. There are TVs at the bar for those who watch sports, and a regular dining area for everyone else. There is rock music playing softly. Our server was really nice and attentive . I had a midnight margarita which was okay (really sweet), I also had a white gummy martini and it was amazing 10/10. I chose the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer which was delicious! 10/10 it was perfect and the pita chips were crispy yet soft. For my meal I had the steak bites which is on the starters menu, it was super tender and cooked medium 10/10. I also had a side of macaroni which was okay 4/10. Came to town for a concert and found this place nearby our hotel to eat before. I was blown away at how great the food and drinks were. We stopped in on a Saturday night after walking out of Outback because the service was non-existent. We were craving a steak and my coworker has raved about this place. So, we came in and sat a few minutes to wait for our table. We were greeted, by Sarah, our server. She was awesome and her service was so appreciated after walking out at Outback. We started out with crispy Brussel sprouts as an app. It was good, I had just wished there was something to bite into, it was made up of crispy leaves (I would have preferred halves at least). It had a nice flavor. I ordered steak frites which was served with parmesan truffle fries. The steak was cooked perfectly, it was tender and juicy and the fries were tasty as well. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye that was served with marble potatoes and roasted carrots. The steak was cooked perfectly again and had great flavor. We were disappointed in the carrots, while they were beautiful rainbow carrots, they were bland. I loved the sprigs of fresh herbs on ouour plates! Not only did my wine and water go dry - I was never asked if I wanted more wine. Appetizers: since it was happy hour, we had the Brussels sprouts app - this has been and continues to be a favourite! Perfect blend of ingredients and very flavorful. We also tried the onion dip - I would describe that as a fancier version of the chip dip you can buy at the grocery store. It was good, the pita chips it is served with were perfect! Not sure we would order it again, but it was good (I'd get the Brussels sprouts all day, any day). Main courses: steak frites and bourbon chicken. The steak frites smelled amazing and the flavor did not disappoint. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a garlic butter and rosemary. The fries were covered in Parmesan and aioli - delicious! This dish was so full flavor! The bourbon chicken was a generous portion, the chicken was cooked perfectly (not at all dry). The side of Mac and cheese was a surprising delight - an excellent blend of cheese with a crispy topping of roasted bread crumbs. Dessert: red velvet cheesecake - I mean, need I say more? The waitress was pretty attentive even though she was very busy. She stopped by a couple of times to see how we were doing. It was not tender, not smoked in the least, and zero flavor other than tasting like roast beef that was sitting in the fridge for 2 or 3 days that one decided to carve up in thick strips and throw it on a bun.
