I was craving lettuce wraps today and this place absolutely delivered! Great flavor and gave plenty of lettuce. Also ordered bang bang noodles which are good. Very peanut buttery and I ate the leftovers cold with extra fish sauce added which I think leveled the flavors up a notch. Lastly the house special steak was 5/5 with the carmelized sauce highlighting the flavor from the tender beef. I have enjoyed this location for several years and wanted to finally offer my kudos. Not only is there kitchen clean and in full view to patrons but Joe, the manager loves his customers and that's why I travel to patronize this one spot. A few Pick Up Stix locations have closed but Joe hired the best people from those places and brought them here. Daisy is not his assistant manager and when I came in, she recognized me from the old Studio City location. I'm so happy she and Joe are working in tandem. All the dishes are wonderful and if you have a gluten allergy, Joe and Daisy make sure to accommodate your dietary needs. Affordable and delicious. It's a no brainer to order from here. I give Pick Up Stix a solid 3.5 (the great customer service bumped it to a 4 star). I came here with my niece and decided to dine in. The employee up front was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the shrimp and vegetables which was good but I was shocked when it was slightly fried. I really expected a boiled shrimp but that's ok. The white wine sauce was good and the vegetables were delicious. The entree also included white rice which wasn't great but it was ok. The service was amazing. They brought our food to the table and kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything. I'm not in the area a lot but if I come back I would definitely dine in again. read more

A warning about eating at the Pick Up Stix at Chatsworth and Zelzah. Yesterday I was badly burned by a wonton, leaving a blisters on the roof of my mouth. The wontons came quite brown and apparently had been left too long in the fryer. When I bit in I had to immediately spit out the filling, but it was too late, leaving several burn blisters. I am 73 and have never had anything so hot in my mouth before. It's dangerous and irresponsible to serve food at that temperature! I told the cashier who didn't seem particularly concerned. He said he would tell the cooks and refunded the price of the wontons. I wrote to corporate and zero reply. A day later and the roof of my mouth is still swollen. I'm just glad a child didn't get one of these. read more

Used to come here frequently on my lunch break years ago when I worked across the street. Haven't been since and decided to grab lunch here with my bf since we were both craving it! I would always come here for the steamed dumplings since it was the quickest and easiest thing to eat in a 30 min break so I never actually got to try their other food. Got the dumplings again this time but also tried the firecracker chicken and drunken noodles. I'm not one for spicy food but my bf is and we shared. Loved the drunken noodles! A little too dry for me so I added whatever sauce came with the dumplings and it was perfect! A bit spicy but not too bad. I was able to handle it and it tasted great! Interesting how extra teriyaki sauce please to this place means don't give any sauce at all. Is the sauce breaking the bank to give even a small amount? Edit: found the sauce, they poured sauce in the rice to ruin the rice instead of putting teriyaki sauce on the teriyaki chicken. Admittedly, I am not a fusion lover. However, I will give a fair shake to a place if they stay true to the ingredients of the foods that they are fusing. This place is not one of them. From the two foods I tried, I have no desire to try them again. Once I was over that LA sticker shock I tend to get from these places, I ordered the garlic shrimp and spring rolls. The spring rolls were filled with a muddled cabbage mush. The ingredients held none of their individual forms or flavours. The wraps were bagged piping hot and then placed in plastic to steam softly and become even more of a letdown than the filling. However, the most disappointing was main dish. The shrimp were over cooked and rubbery. The vegetables a spoon stir away from becoming puréed baby food. And the sauce was unidimensionally sweet with no endearing qualities. I am not sure which Asian culture they were attempting to mimic with this dish but the sauce came off as Americanized sugary sludge used solely to hide the lack of onion or garlic or any other (non-existent) "traditional and authentic" flavours. I cannot even offer this place three stars because I really have no plans to intentionally eat here again. That being said. if you are from Philly and looking for some "corner-store" Chinese food, this place will probably come really close to hitting the spot if you are not thrown off by the lack of crisp in the veggies and the overcooking the proteins.
