Heard good things and wanted a low key dinner on Nantucket but had a terrible experience. During our 40 minute wait it took about 20 minutes to get a glass of wine from the bar and the waiter was incredibly rude and adamant about paying the check before we sat down. our server was incredibly rude and inattentive. Who charges for every soda refill? Pi Pizzeria does. Over $20 lunch tab for sodas for 2 adults and 2 children! The charred, somewhat burnt, thin crust and tasteless tomato puree sauce that my son described as "slimey" aren't compelling.The margarita pizza was terrible, but the italian was good. I've had some decent pizzas here but last time i ordered a spinach mushroom pizza. Not only was the crust excessively burnt but so were the tufts of spinach on top. I really don't get the raves. Cute name and a bit pretentious IMO. Next time, back to Sophie T's. read more

The CUTEST pizzeria of all time. I think this restaurant is 8 tables plus bar space- little bitty and so quaint. The staff is delightful. The pizza is hands down the best. The cannolis were amazing. We greatly enjoyed Pi Pizzeria! The service was great and we felt very informed about the menu and the offerings!! The pizza was amazing and very light, the salads and appetizers were perfect sizes and didn't fill us up too much before the main meal. Found this place on google maps and read the reviews on yelp. Everyone raved about the food but on average people weren't thrilled with the service. Decided to take a chance on the service to get some great pizza and so glad we did! The wait was long and there was no place to stand that didn't make you feel in the way (raining outside), however, once we were seated we were able to order quickly. Our server was very accommodating (though he did forget one order), but most importantly, the food was awesome. The artichoke risotto was delightful as was our mushroom/garlic/arugula pizza! Ordered a few pies and a sandwich to go. We ordered right as they opened, and it was exactly 15 minutes for the pizza to be ready. One of the people "serving" was rather surly, and my pizza apparently sat on the to go shelf for 5+ minutes while various staff members ignored me, but the pizza itself was a delightful combo of NYC style sauce and cheese and thin crust Italian. Really interesting and tasty! The pepperoni was strips of quality meat. Overall worth it, but I can't imagine this to be a very pleasant dining experience. wish that i could give this place literally 0 stars. The other night i got takeout and I cant have dairy or gluten. the pizza had cheese all over it and i didnt realize until i got home and took a bite without realizing it wasnt goat cheese. In the benefit of the doubt last night i went with my friends. I have celiacs disease so not having gluten is really critical to my health. My pizza came out and i ate a slice and thankfully the girl next to me also was gluten free. She looked at my pizza and noticed it was different crust. The food runner then came over and took it away Because he said it was not gluten free. I got up from the table to throw up and my waiter came over with barely any sympathy. While i assumed the restaurant should have comped multiple things on our bill considering they almost killed me had my friend not realized, the only comped my pizza. No one apologized to the table or me. No management came out. Actually, another drunk guest came out and asked if i was "really gluten free or faking it" while i was throwing up in a bush. Oh ! This woman, happened to be the OWNER. This place is actually a disgrace and i will never step foot near it again. You guys should seriously reconsider having gluten free options if you are not going to be attentive to the fact people are allergic to gluten and are choosing your restaurant because you appear to be a safe place. I am something of a pizza fanatic and snob. Pi makes absolutely awesome authentic brick oven pizza. Whether you want a basic cheese pie or shrimp or clams they have it all. So happy we were able to find great pizza on the island. My wife had the clams appetizer which is expertly made in a tomato broth. The married couple who owns the place are very friendly too. They have a take out spot in the corner with outdoor tables you can eat your food at if you'd like to eat more casually. Regardless you have to try Pi!!!! I agree with the previous poster that the ratings here are a sin, this is a 5 star pizza restaurant all the way! read more

For Nantucket this is pretty decent. It is as far from NY Pizza as it is the distance but this is excellent for Nantucket. A Large Pizza is the equivalent to a Domino's Large (but double the price). The outer crust was good but the center of the pie fails. You can't fold the pizza in half where it holds itself up. I found that the first 4" of the slice was soggy. I was told I need to try Fusaro's for the ultimate Nantucket Pizza challenge to compare. read more

Pi is a new pizzeria on Nantucket -- they have brick-oven pizzas and creative specialty pies. My favorite is the arugula pizza with goat cheese and pancetta. The pizza is cooked with the goat cheese and arugula, and then a lightly dressed arugula salad is sprinkled over the top after it comes out of the oven. The only negative is that a couple of times the pizzas I've gotten here have been pretty burnt in some spots or on the edges. read more

Great cocktails, try the Farmer Girl's Day Off or Blueberry Pi. Good pizza, we ordered three smalls for three adults, one pepperoni, one white clam, and one traditional margherita. The kids had the spaghetti with meatballs, and the pasta sauce was tasty. The caprese salad was also good with fresh pesto sauce and beautiful tomatoes. Tip: Arrive a few minutes before opening at 5:30pm if you have a large party and want to avoid a wait. There will be a line at the door with locals in the know. read more

We came here after the bars a few nights ago about twenty minutes before closing. We offered to split but the bartender insisted we stay and the kitchen said they would love to fire us up some pies. Such a great move! We ordered three pies, one margarita and a couple meat variations. The pizza is thin like Upper Crust, but better tasting. I can't say it is the best pizza but it is definitely good and you can tell they use quality ingredients. It is super expensive however for pizza so I had to keep this to a three star review. This is some of the best pizza I have ever had. forget best on the island that is a no brainer. this is really good pizza for anywhere. this is a great pizza for lunch or dinner. the crust is light and the toppings are fresh and delicious. the interesting take on the lengthwise cut pepperoni is a nice departure from the obvious. Went out with my family for my sister in law birthday today and was kicked out because my party of 10 was not complete. We were given a table for 4, which would be fine for 6, but the lady hosting said we could definitely fit 10. We don't like to eat crumbling on each other, so we thought of slipping our party in two. My husband and I sat at the bar, which cause a huge fuzz. The bartender didn't serve us at first, the lady hosting went down and told my mother in law they couldn't serve her until our all party was present. Funny because there was 2 parties being served while they could wait for their guest calmly and happy. We kept asking to be served (NOT EVEN WATER WAS SERVED, and we had 4 kids at the table) and they refused again, so this lady said she would not serve us AT ALL and wanted us to leave the restaurant as she was the OWNER. How rude! I graduated in Hospitality and never seen anyone threat a client like this lady did. Disrespectful, so disrespectfully! A dinner that was supposed to be a celebration, started as a disappointment. Luckily we have other restaurants to go and be welcomed, so our night end up as a big party at Sophie T's. read more

Four of us ate there on 9/12 at 15 minutes after they opened. We let our waiter know right away that we had another commitment, but he was not adequately attentive to our time constraints. We first waited quite awhile before our entries came, then one meal was delivered almost 10 minutes after the other three. Two orders of Chicken Piccata were terrible (the chicken cutlets were too thick and tough, and the "sauce" was lacking). It was hard to get a wait staffer's attention when we needed to get our check in order to make it to another commitment. The wait time was crazy but the food was worth it. We walked in at 745 on a Saturday night because they don't take reservations, we were told. There is no where to wait if it's raining so it's VERY crowded. We were told an hour wait which turned into 1.5 hours and you aren't allowed to sit at the bar without a reservation either. Not the most pleasant experience but when it's raining out, you can't wait on the porch. When we did sit down the food was amazing and the service great. I'd go back again but maybe go earlier and plan on waiting. They stop taking names at 9 pm. read more

As New Yorkers' we know good pizza too, and they make g-o-o-d thin, light and fresh Neapolitan style pizza! Salads, calamari, eggplant, all fresh and delish.! I think people need to keep in mind what type of Italian food is served at this restaurant. That would be....Neapolitan. Service is polite, considering it gets quite busy. Worth going! read more

Got off the ferry and immediately wanted pizza. Pi Pizza is a bit more than a mile walk straight down Main St., easy to find. The atmosphere was very quaint, looks like a house from the outside and has a small bar inside with a few tables. The bartender was very personable and offered a few suggestions for local attractions, as well as suggesting food. The prices were typical for pizza with a large second perfectly for two people. They had a good variety of beer, wine, and liquor at the bar as well as a variety of other food. read more

I went to Pi last evening and had a great meal at the bar. The bartender is a big upgrade from past summers! I enjoyed a great wedge salad special......excellent! The chicken piccata was also very good with a side of pene. All told it remains a very good mid-island restaurant that has some value , compared to the in-town establishments. Not impressed, it's a pizza place and we went for their subs. Maybe that's where we went wrong. The hot subs sounded impressive but were very short from it. I got a hot sausage sub and it was one sausage with *some* peppers. Very dry and weak. I had to add tons of olive oil and parm cheese to make it tasty. Then cut the sausage myself in half so it wouldn't be gone in just one bite. If I'm paying $9 please make it a sub where I'm wowed. It was just sad. All I'm asking is some love and attention. Add another sausage, more peppers, definitely some onions and something else to make it stand out!!! The other two subs weren't impressive either. However, the atmosphere is amazing. I love the big wooden door to get in and the cozy feel inside. It's a nice place but the food needs more attention definitely in the sub section. They over price and under deliver! We got takeout, and for $61 we got a small cheese pizza that was lukewarm and soggy, I actually thought my son had taken the cheese off of a piece, because there was barely any cheese on it. My husband had chicken parmesan that was okay, but a smallish portion. I ordered the gnocchi, I took it out of the box and thought it was a mistake. There were 20 pieces of gnocchi, and I had paid $21 for the entree. I called, and he said that was correct, and it was so expensive because they hand make their gnocchi, *(newsflash: everyone does). Anyway, when I finally took a bite it was a disappointment as well, mushy and way over sauced. Really unfortunate experience. We have lived on Nantucket for over 10 years and I will not recommend this restaurant, nor will I return. read more

I like to visit restaurants before committing. Read many reviews on Yelp and was undecided. Many of my longtime Nantucket friends are non-committal as well. I met the owner and some of the staff and they are not a welcoming lot. Generally I would turn them down preferring to give my business to those deserving. Next step is to taste the food. So far they are getting two stars but decent pizza will change that. read more
