I definitely had my reservations about an Americanized pho restaurant, especially one located right by super touristy Grapevine Mills mall. I had also heard from friends that the food there was a tad bit overpriced. Considering that Asian food of the Chinese/Vietnamese variety tend to be pretty cheap, and the area must not be cheap as far as rent goes, I wasn't surprised. Walking in, you look straight ahead to see a sign where it says "Order Here". You actually do not start there, since the line starts off to the left where you see the first section of the segmented menu. That creates a problem right there. First time goers go to a pho restaurant expect to eat pho. Then they see non-pho items (they also offer vermicelli bowls and rice dishes, for example). Variety is great! No doubt about it. However, the trick is to make it easy for the patron to order and not have to remember either the Vietnamese name of the dish, or the English description of it. If you come on a busier day, then you spend more time looking at the various dishes that they offer, which can lead to forgetting what sounded good to you or what it was called. I can see someone getting to the front of the line only to not remember what they wanted, making everyone else wait just a bit longer. I ordered a size Regular bowl of beef "filet mignon" pho and added meatballs to it. It cost about the same as a typical Large bowl at other Dallas-Area pho restaurants. Needless to say, as soon as I saw my food, I knew I'd still be hungry. They serve the pho with the typical assortment of mint, beansprouts, jalapenos, and lime slice to spruce it. The broth itself was not bad at all. They made sure to skim off the top of the broth as it was being made so it didn't leave the patron's broth cloudy and fatty as they ate it. As a whole, the pho was surprisingly decent and worth having again in a pinch. Service was par for the course for pho restaurants, basically meaning non-existent after you get your food, but since you get your own drinks, it doesn't really matter. The restaurant itself was clean and looked presentable, with a couple of flat panel TVs to watch if you so chose. I may try this place again in the future for some of their other items, however the pho won't sway me from my go-to spot in Carrollton (Pho Pasteur). read more

Pho was good. And their newest beef tender noodle soup is a must try. My mom ordered it and beef was so tender. The only thing is the lady at the front who took our order spoke poor English so she didn't get my husband's order. My husband was waiting there for 10 minutes until I realized that she probably didn't get his order. We had to wait for him to finish eating. I always try to find the good things in everything, so I'll start with a positive. Positive, the jack fruit smoothie was good. negative the the egg rolls had scrambled eggs on the inside with a Grey-ish hue also quite burnt past recognition (like that NJ woman who spent too much time in the tanning booth.). This place is a good option for those who do not want to venture out to Arlington or Richardson for good pho. I like the concept...you get to see what they are making and order when ready. Although, that made it harder to actually pick a dish when I saw the different dishes being assembled. I had the pho beef filet mignon and the salmon spring rolls. Both tasted just like what my family makes at home. Finally, there is a pho place that makes spring rolls with real green lettuce and vegetables...no ice burg lettuce! Really great Pho. I got Curry chicken pho, spice was perfect. Served with tons of basil which I love. Spring rolls were very fresh with tasty peanut sauce. Sons pad Thai was fishy, which some people like, some don't but was good if you like fish sauce. I work in the area and there aren't many options for pho so I thought I'd give this place a try. I was not impressed. I wouldn't say it was the worse pho I've had but I doubt I will ever come back. The price is quite high for what you get. I had pho with fillet and meatballs. The meatballs had an odd taste almost sour as though they were bad. I agreed with Trang N comment that it was a little difficult to know and remember what to pick at the order line. In my case, I am a Pho lover, so I know exactly what I want on my bowl. When i tried the coffee and I was like oh no...not another American noodle house, but my Pho dac biet was very impress to my surprise. The soup was tasty, the veggie were fresh, and thit tai was really filet mignon that was very tender and juicy. The restaurant is very clean, excellent service, they need to hire somebody at cashier who understand Vietnamese. Mmmmmmmh we loved it! We ordered the brisket pho it was so flavorful and the brisket was tender. We got the large to split and left feeling very satisfied. The staff is friendly esp manager he told us that they used no MSG which impressed me more bc it was really flavorful and savory. We also had the iced coffee nice and strong! We got one for there and one for the morning. I do have to say that I thought the coffee was skittle pricey but the soup price was equal to that of pho places I've been to in Dallas near North Park mall and way more tastier. Short story: 45 minute wait for cold food. Full story: I've been here twice now, and I have to express my disappointment. At first, I was so excited to find a place with veggie pho; a Vietnamese restaurant that vegetarian me can enjoy right along with my carnivorous husband! The last time I'd had that was when I lived in Hawaii a few years ago, and I'd really been missing it. The prices looked decent and the "Xpress" in the name indicated a quick lunch or take out place. Perfect. Our first visit was late at night, about an hour and a half before closing. I remember thinking our order took way too long given that we were the only people in the restaurant, but it was really good and everything tasted fresh. It didn't compare with Hale Vietnam in Honolulu, but I appreciated the attention to detail in both of our orders, and I was pleasantly surprised for a chain-like pho place in Grapevine. HOWEVER. Our second visit was for an early lunch. When we arrived there was a short line, and the restaurant looked pretty full with people obviously on their lunch breaks. In the time it took us to advance to the register, I noticed a lot of bare tables, and a small queue of rather irritated-looked people waiting for to-go orders. We placed our to-go order and joined the queue. There was a lot of confusion, staff coming out repeatedly to ask both seated and to-go customers what they had ordered, bringing out the wrong order, etc. It took 15 minutes for my husband's half of the order to come out, and we were already a little irritated because a few people behind us in line had received theirs first. Finally, about 20 minutes in, I reminded them that I was still waiting on my half of the order, and that there was another woman who had been waiting about as long as I had. 10 minutes after that I realized that there was no longer a line and everyone seated was eating, including people that came in long after we had started waiting. I finally lost my cool and complained, and THEN they started working on my order. It was a solid 45 minutes after ordering before I got my pho. At that point my husband's order was completely cold and, upon getting home and opening mine, I found that mine was also cold, the veggies and spring rolls that were separate from soup were soggy and wilted, and everything was too salty. I'm not sure what happened between visits, but this place has got to get it together. read more

Ordered their stir fry deluxe as the menu said it has tofu, beef and shrimp but it didn't have tofu and when we complained they said the menu was wrong. Didn't even compensate us or gave extra tofu to make it better. Food was not spectacular either. Some portions were cold and some were extremely hot. Soup that came with the meal was also cold! Will never come back here again and will tell my friends and family not to visit this place! read more
