Ive had this company for about 4 years now. During the first year the internent had low signal would go in and out at all times. Unfortunatly this was the only company that could service my apartments. Their equiment is not upto par, you will need to get some sort of wifi extender. Most likely you'll have to try the router and wifi extender in different areas to get stable signal. If you want TV's you'll also have to try different areas. After figuiring that , signal has been stable. I do like their affordable prices. I dont blame Phonoscope, I blame my apartments as they do not allow other companies because new wiring has to be done (to get better signal), since its an old complex(and they are being cheap). read more

This review is specifically about the tech support I received from David Acosta at Phonoscope. He was very patient and thorough as he assisted me in figuring out which which room's outlet I was supposed to connect my modem to to access the internet service, and then troubleshooting the issues I was having, and even guiding me through setting up my router and inputting the correct info/specifications into my router's app. As for the internet service itself, that's yet to be determined because I just now got it all hooked up. Phonoscope is terrible! We only use them as a provider because they are the ONLY internet and cable provider in Royal Brook (Believe me, I've checked, we are out of the coverage areas for xfinity, AT&T, suddenlink, tachus). After the first month when we were charged over $300, we canceled the platinum cable package and kept the internet only-or at least we thought we did-it turns out you can only cancel by email and they didn't tell me that until 2 months later and threatened to cut off the internet if I don't pay almost $900!!! They have no customer service except 9-5 on weekdays so if the service goes out some other time, you're out of luck. If I could, I'd pick 0 stars! read more

If I could give no stars I would. This company is the worst ISP I have ever had to deal with. No only do they violate their own SLA in regards to repairs on service affecting issues, they will not even call me back about cancelling the service. It is impossible to give a decent review because their customer service is terrible, their service is terrible, and their support is terrible. The absolute worst customer service. When you try to talk to customer service they sit there and yell at you. When they tell you something wrong and you call them out, they tell you that you have no right to tell them they were wrong and sit there and yell at you. They never give you a straight answer because they don't know what they're talking about. And when you ask for clarification - guess what, they yell at you some more. Horrible. I live in a high-end 'luxury' loft in down-town Houston, and while I have the best in terms of my loft space, views, location, I have the worst internet I've had in decades. I've reached out to the company and they do not offer any upgrades, or even plans to repair. I recently did a speed test, direct wired to the Internet modem, and got a download speed 2.92 mbps, and an upload speed of 0.33 mbps. This was during a relatively quiet period, Saturday afternoon. This compared to my verizon phone, 54.8 mbps download and 26.5 mbps upload. So, my telephone is 18 times faster then my wifi. This sucks. read more

Phonoscope is our service provider for our office building. Customer service was very polite and helpful with our set-up. Installation was smooth without issues, service has been flawless for our needs. Choosing a cable/internet company these days is unfortunately about going with the "least bad" option. Phonoscope, however, is, BY FAR, the "most bad" option. I had to use Phonoscope because at the time my apartment complex had a contract with them and they were our only option. The internet is slow and goes out often. It is incredibly unreliable. If you need to frequently have dependable internet for work or school, I would avoid them at all costs. Their pricing is also egregious given the product. It is sad that this is the case because I would have loved to support a small Houston business over the other cable giants. I cannot though, because the product is far, far inferior. I will say that the many technicians that came to my apartment to work on fixing my broken internet were always friendly. I thought I was done with Phonoscope back in April when I moved out of my apartment complex. However, after calling them multiple times, and being reassured each time I would get my deposit back, I have still yet to receive it. I gave up on calling because after a certain point fighting for a small deposit isn't worth the grief. However, it was a very disappointing end to an all around miserable customer service experience. read more

If you want to be transported back to the '80s - but not in a good way - choose them as your cable/ISP. Even their commercials are low-grade '80s throwbacks. However, old-fashioned dial-up may have provided faster connections. If your apartment or other community insists this is the only provider, you have 2 options: 1) live elsewhere. It is seriously not worth it to put up with slow speeds, poor quality cable, & persistent outages or 2) check for yourself. Often the claim it us the only provider is only because the management company gets a kickback from each contract. I was told they were the only provider at my old apartment, until I saw a competitor truck there. He installed new service that day, after he had completed his original call. Called phonoscope (at the time, the only way to reach them, but it looks like that hasn't changed. Perfectly sums up the faults of an outdated telecom that it has zero ability to conduct online business. read more

The customer service and people I have interacted with at this company have very good customer service and are very polite. The actual service is fair. It seems to be a bit outdated compared to there major competitors, Comcast and AT&T. The internet service is fair, not very fast, and the channel options could be updated. They are also a expensive and do not offer any promo packages. read more

Let's see, the cable boxes they provide are about 15 years old. The channel lineup is limited and has very few HD channels. The service is unreliable. The internet is moderate speed but has frequent outages. It seems in Houston all the Camden properties force you to use these guys. If having reliable cable with decent channels in HD and or reliable internet is important to you, you may want to consider living somewhere else. read more

this is our service provider due an exclusive contract with our development in Montgomery County. Since moving in in the middle of September it has been quite an adventure. First they could not install the television and internet service because parts were on back order, originally told they were on back order for the central location then they were on back order for the residences. Finally around the 1st week of October they found the parts and installed the system. It only went down three times in the next week. Then I decided to upgrade to 1 gig up and down, guess what the internet went down again. I was told when a change occurs the system shuts down for a while Never achieved over 100 meg up or down. Changed back to 100 meg. System down again. Called them to check on the phone line. The line was never installed but I was being billed for the Gold bundle including the phone. They sent a tech out he installed the line to the switch, said he could not put it in the office I would have to call another company to get an additional line installed in the office. $175.00 later new lines in the office still no phone. Called them found out I had a phone number assigned they do not provide a phone I need to buy one. Back and forth on what kind of phone, then told a regular land line phone was all that was needed. Got the phone, another tech call to sort things out, have a dial tone. Cannot dial out or get calls in . Get a recording that the phone is disconnected or not in service. Call Phonoscope told they will send e mail to the phone unit and get it fixed, next day call back phone still not working they will expedite , still no phone. Called the accounting office three times in a day, phone rings no answer let it ring for 5 minutes one time, and a couple of minutes another. It is middle November I have been billed for the phone service since day one and cannot get any one to answer to make and adjustment. If you think it cannot get any worse than this, just get Phonoscope for a service provider. read more

I wish there was a no star option. This company has infuriated me for over 9 months now. My apartment complex offers only their services, and it literally is the worst provider on the market. Constant battling with them to fix the service - the service drops at least once a day. They send over technicians who are poorly trained and have less technical knowledge than me (and I use freaking google to get my info!). Absolutely would not recommend. In fact, I would take your apartment's partnership with them as a reason to not sign the lease. YOU WILL HAVE A BEVY OF HEADACHES as a result of this poor service. Slow, prone to crashing, and most importantly unreliable to the 10th degree. Do not use this provider. read more

Do not use this service. Terrible customer service. They have outdated features compared to what is in the marketplace too. Be sure to look at the contract as it has an auto renewal feature and when you don't need the service any longer they bill you for 50% of the amount due under the auto-renewal feature. Worst cable & internet provider in the country. The reviews that say their internet connection cuts out daily apparently don't work from home because as someone who does I can tell you they cut the internet out every 4 hours like clockwork and reset your connection. For what's supposed to be "high speed" cable internet I get faster more reliable service using my 4G LTE smart phone as a hot spot than I do with their internet service. My apartment complex (Camden Midtown Apartments) has a contract with them like every other Camden apartment location and you can't get any other service unless you want DSL or satellite and sadly either of those might offer faster internet speeds. I will go out of my way to avoid this company and any others that make me do business with them. It's impossible to describe just how bad this company is. read more

Cable boxes from circa 1975, large enough to bring in aircraft, but/plus, the worst service imaginable, and I have a vivid imagination. Nothing works! lousy customer service would be preferable to the service provided by these incompetents....lines running through my two brand new TV's, premium paid for programs that are "ready soon", and never materialize.....nit wits manning the phones at the tightly guarded compound where this atrocious "service" emanates....I live in one of the Camden properties, where huge amounts of money had to have been exchanged in order to contract with such undeserving cable non-providers.....Camden should be sued on the basis of this "included" (that costs about $90.00 per) non-service (alone)...the poor girls in the office toe the company line of "everyone here loves it"....included, by the way, means included, not an extra $90.00 stipend for no TV service....the "techs" they sent to not fix the continuing no service will never set foot in my apartment again!! They are clueless, look shady, and behave shadier....it's kinda incredible that in 2017 I, and anyone else, is forced to pay for this type of treatment!! Camdens answer?
