There were 2 people greeting and seating customers and two people actually working, and only one of those was efficient. Waited 15 minutes and then left. To be clear, this is a 1.25-star review. And it was the top-notch customer service of S. Voss Rd's Retail Sales Professional PARRIS JARRET, who researched our unexpected 24+ hour internet outage during our in-person visit last week to find out WTF happened to our internet on the late afternoon of 8/28/2024, who saved this rating from its more accurate 1-star ranking. I mean it. Just before 5pm, the sh*t just went out while we were streaming some online content as if it were buffering like it was the late 90s and we were on a dial-up connection. Going to bed without service at nearly midnight, I decided that I'd wake up to a restored connection in a few hours like last time (See my previous Yelp.). Uh, nope. I had to cancel my morning appointments on 8/29, none of which were pro-bono, btw. I spent the day accessing the internet through my smartphone, catching up on my emailed news digests and reading my web-based Kindle. By 3-ish in the pm on 8/29 and constant phone looping that prevented access to live customer support from Xfinity, we ended up visiting the S. Voss Rd location in search of transparency. We got PARRIS JARRET randomly after our names were added to the queue by the first staffer closest to the entrance. PARRIS JARRET was able to identify our issue through our account but could only access the information we could. He did an awesome job of sharing what outages like our mean, assuring us that our connection would be improved after our internet came back on. He also signed me up for Xfinity rewards and let me in on a good phone deal offer that would lower our monthly internet bill. But as I explained to Parris, I'm not the type who makes purchases after losing money for reasons out of my control, especially when I have no idea when I'm gonna start making money again. So, because of his own employer that he made look good, Parris lost out on making a sale. Nice one, Xfinity. Like Parris, we went home with no cigar. A couple hours later we got a J/K text stating that our internet had been restored, but it was only after another hour and a half or two hours that we were actually back up and running. My ex was pretty finicky, I call her Ex-Finicky. This is not related. It's massive, the biggest one of these I've seen. But being large doesn't make it good. And it's not good at all. This company in general charges way too much, and like Comcast always was, it's too expensive and not very reliable. So just to say we're not big fans is an understatement. I came in to return an xfinity xFi modem, I was 3 people deep in line. The staffer came and asked for my name so I can be put into the queue. She kindly told me to take a seat instead of just stand there. Great! Sadly, my wait was nearly 15-20 minutes before I got to the staffer at the counter just to turn in and drop off the device. The transaction was literally 20 seconds. You would think they would ask what problem there was for the visit and just fast track minor issues on the spot. AT&T does it. The absolute worst experience ever! Amber assistant mgr sold me a new plan and phone upgrade. I spent four hours in the store while she did this!!! And of course the billing errors began. I went back and was greeted with a blank look and told to wait for the cycle to complete. No sorry let me take a look and see what I can do...just a I don't care attitude. Of course I was overbilled twice!!! I went back yesterday to get help suddenly she was out to lunch, when I asked for a manager I was told she was out to lunch. Kathy (I think) comes right in from the back room with the same attitude of "you're the problem lady" no polish you would expect from a manager, no can do take charge...nope a silent attitude of we don't care and we aren't going to figure this out. Amber announces she's going to lunch and walks off. Now I ask the manager to look at the screen and see what Amber found out or what's going on. She refused to do that and said "why" you have to call customer service and tell them the problem yourself. I said I have done that and it's not getting fixed. She took my phone, dialed customer service and waited for them to pk up and told me to talk to them...now I'm angry and said no I need you to help me! She actually put fingers in my face and told me to leave the store or she was calling the police!! What in God's name has happened to the world. This isn't management material. If you don't like your job then look for something else but we expect better from Xfinity. P.S. Xfinity has apparently allowed their records to be hacked as I was contacted by a scammer who had all my Xfinity information and offered me a half price rate - just had to pay year one up front! I immediately called him out for phishing and went to an Xfinity location to ask them about my information. They literally shrugged and said yes hackers were scamming their customers from their systems and they didn't have a secure data base anymore! I thought companies had to alert customers and make an effort to keep your billing secure but apparently not. Even though the scammer was told no by me I got a notice he billed my account $200! I came here to get cable and internet boxes to set up in my new place. The gentleman that helped me was very courteous and also encouraged me to save a little money by setting up the boxes myself when I said I was apprehensive. I'm sooooo angry right now that I wish I could give ZERO stars! I came here to pickup my Xfinity equipment to set up at home today. A gentleman named Victor helped me. I guess when I say "helped" I meant help with more headaches. He forgot to give me a power cord to the modem. How do you forget that??? I didn't bother to check the bag because it was heavy with a bunch of boxes in it and why would I doubt a so-called professional? I had such a great experience at the Voss location of Xfinity. Parris helped me, and although everyone there is very nice, Parris goes an extra 10 X 10 miles. He truly enjoys helping people and is very proactive in doing so. He also informed me that he could change my plan at any time, even though I'm in a contract; he noticed that I had a very high speed and I was on a budget... he advised I check with my employer to see if I really needed such a high speed, because if I didn't, he could save me money by lowering it. I really needed his help that day (my service had been disconnected), and he was definitely Heaven Sent! I will always ask for Parris when I go to the S. Voss location. I'm very thankful that he is there and I hope that Xfinity appreciates him. :) read more

Having a monopoly and looking to be a bigger monopoly if their merger goes through is treating Comcast nicely. They absolutely don't care. There were 20 people ahead of me when I came here and after a half hour, I'm down to number 10 so that should tell you how hard working the 20 or so people who work here are. All I want to do is drop off a modem we were renting at work (I highly recommend buying your own from newegg or somewhere). I'm lucky enough to not use them at home nor at my mother's home so this only a one time thing I hope. I will also do my best to hold out as long as I can as a cord cutter. *edit* So after about 45 minutes they got to me and took the old modem, but told me since it was a Comcast Business account, I'd have to call customer service to have them remove the rental fee. I called and they told me it would take 3 days before they get the returned part in the warehouse (even though it was already confirmed returned at the store) so who knows whether it was taken off or not. *edit #2* It was odd that out of the 20 or so people who worked there, 19 of them were the same race. It may be a bigger store compared to the one that they used to have on Bissonett and Bellaire. However, the quality of service that they provide here is about the same, or even worse. I came in here to try to activate a voice modem (eMTA) that I had purchased from ebay because I don't want to be paying the $8/month lease fee. I came in on a Sunday so this place was packed and that was to be expected. Instead of waiting in line until it's your turn, they have a sign-in system. You get a ticket with your name and a number and when your turn comes around, there's a couple of screens that will display your name and the rep who will be helping you is also going to call your name out. THIS is about the only thing that's better compared to the older location. So they have some chairs, a crap load of iPads for you to play with, and a big screen TV for you to watch. It makes waiting less boring, right? Nope! I tried to play with a few different iPads and none of them had internet connection. There were no web browsers. There were no games. So, pretty much I couldn't do anything with the tablets. So, what's the point of having 10+ iPads in the store? For show? There were also more customers than there were seats. A lot of people had to sit on the floor (me included.) Also, the parents that came with their children just let their kids run around unsupervised. They were yelling and making a ruckus and the parents couldn't care less. The people that work here also didn't say anything. Anyway, it was about 50 minutes before it was my turn. I brought my modems to the counter and the lady (if I can call her that) who was helping me was very rude. Every time I tried to explain what I had done prior to my coming in and what I'm wanting to do, she kept cutting me off and telling me "I understand," or "I know what I'm doing." Long story short. She WASN'T able to activate my modem and she was telling me that the system kept giving her an error. She told me that I should try connecting the modem to internet explorer and the activation page should pop up right away When I was about to tell her that I had tried this and it didn't pop up, she cut me off again and told me that she'd done this plenty of times. WELL, WITH A XFINITY MODEM, MAYBE! NOT WITH A NON-XFINITY MODEM, YOU DUMB B!&*#_! She then proceeded to tell that my only option to use my own personal modem was to downgrade my Comcast subscription service (I have triple play) and lose the phone service. However, I'd still have to keep paying the same amount, and then I'd have to go out and get myself a different modem that is not a voice modem and THEN and ONLY THEN can I activate my own personal modem. Needless to say, I walked out of there after 1.5 hours of frustration with absolutely NOTHING. I proceeded to do online chat support to see if there was anything they could do for me to help me activate my modem. The chat support quickly pointed me to call 1-800-931-0790 instead of the regular 1-855-652-3446 for modem activation and told me that eMTAs could only be activated through that number. Now, WHY didn't the rep that was helping me at the store know this? She could have told me that instead of being rude and claiming that she knew what she was doing because obviously she didn't. I will NOT step foot in here unless it's to return or to pick up an equipment. Such a waste of time. read more

According to Houston's Business Journal, this Comcast XFINITY Store is the largest in the nation. This building used to be a Blockbuster store of 6500 sq ft of space. It kind of mimicking Apple store as it has larger waiting area with couches and hands-on demo stations. So you can try other products, like X1 box, Home Security, Mobile apps, etc. When I first walked in, concierge greeted me and ask the purpose of the visit. Then, I sign in on an iPad-looking device. I didn't need a number, because I would be called by my name or I could look at the monitor for my place. At this time, I could browse at the different Comcast products and services. My favorite station is using the iPads to control X1 platform TV remotely. But I normally get serviced before get on to the next station. This Comcast XFINITY Store is easy to get to from major thoroughfares and conveniently located on Westheimer Rd and S Voss Rd. The previous location in Bellaire was hard to get to with many one-way and hard-to-turn-around streets. I like this location better, because I can park my car anywhere in the lot and shop at my favorite stores within walking distance. read more

After about two minutes of their conversation a young lady looked over at me and asked me to have a seat...which I did...patiently for 10 minutes. It wasn't until I approached the counter and asked if we were done or if I had to wait longer. He apologized profusely and said I was good to go. For the Manager who asked his employees what they liked about him as a manger...I can tell what we the public dislike of any manager, having these types of conversations in a public setting for customers to overhear and to pull your employee away from assisting a customer to ask such a question. read more

That being said, I have recently been having an incredible amount of problems with this service. They are constantly making updates to their products and system, but never informed their clients beforehand. So their clients are left to wonder why they are services are not working correctly. Now I understand why the price is so low. I have requested multiple times to have someone pick up my old modem along with the old flexbox (that had been shut down without my knowledge) and it took them 4 days of calls to set it up, then they never showed. The bottom line, their customer service needs a lot of work, and they need to get better at letting their customers know what is happening with their product. I am typically not someone who leaves reviews but after the service I received.. I am warning you to use a different service provider. Initially, when we signed up for internet we were told we would pay $35 a month including the modem. We soon found out that we would have to pay an additional $15 a month for renting of the modem. Not only was this not communicated, we were paying an extra $30 a month for cable which we did not sign up for. My roommate and I went back to this location on FIVE different occasions to get this resolved since employees are not properly trained and management is nonexistent. When finally speaking to the manager, Karema (however you spell it) she was rude and EXTREMELY unprofessional. I'm positive she hates what she does for a living. She finally credited our account. Our lease was coming to an end and we did not want to use Xfinity. We are now being charged $60 for breaking a contract that was never communicated with us that if cable is taken off my account it would be an additional year added to the contract. THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON XFINITY'S END. Like what are the voice recordings for???? Anyways, be aware.. the service sucks, our internet would randomly turn off at least twice a day and employees will cheat you. You're better off using a different service provider. I have been here three times and each experience has been the same. I'm here on a Saturday, the day that most people are here, to return equipment. The customer service model is so poor that there are 11 stations with only 4 employees handling customers. There is standing room only in this place because they are so slow. They also don't seem concerned at all about hurrying. In between customers two of the employees just spend a couple minutes talking to one another without helping any other customers.
