When you buy an old house, it's bound to have issues. In my case one of my issues was the lack of insulation in the attic. When my house was built in 1962 insulation wasn't a requirement like it is today. I didn't want to go through another winter in a cold house so I requested a quote on yelp from multiple businesses. Rafael from High Grade Insulation Services was quick to give me a call. During our initial conversation, Rafael asked a few questions and gave me his professional insight on why my house was so cold. After I interviewed three businesses, I decided to choose High Grade Insulation Services (HGIS) for my project. The price was very competitive and Rafael was very personable and informative. Rafael showed up on time and was in communication with me days before our appointment date. The estimate given was the actual price paid. All the air gaps were sealed with foam and 10" on blow insulation installed. Plastic was put down in the areas where the work was happening, and they cleaned up everything before they left. Rafael was even nice enough to replace some screens in my attic that had rusted away at no cost, in order to keep the critter out. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the job High Grade Insulation Services did. I like to support small local businesses when I can, and in this case I'd do it again. This is an insulation company that you would want to hire. They are reasonable when making an action plan, this was our third company that we had an estimate from. As opposed to the other companies, Rafael took the time to ask what it was that we wanted- and steered us to a specific plan that met our goals- some items we paid more attention to and others we left out. It felt very catered to our needs. We had a quick turn around and were able to have within one week- Rafael brought a team of three to help with the project. First they quartered off a pathway with plastic trapping and rolled out paper flooring. The next few hours were spent removing and disinfecting the debris. We needed rodent proofing as well. We chose the Batt insulation and got a really great coverage- we have an older unit and will likely do more work on the home so we needed a tidy attic. After the attic was done, I took a look expecting to need to point out a few odds and ends I wanted- but nothing was missed, the team got it all. Then for the other half of the house- the vaulted ceiling, they did the drill and fill with blow in insulation, they placed plastic over our furniture and electronics and replaced the drywall cutouts so it could be patched. Once all the work was done, they vaccummed up any residuals and packed up completely- the house was how it was when they arrived which we appreciated. Our old insulation was 50 years old, and in terrible shape- we had a lot of rodent damage too. Rafael and Lalo and their team did awesome and we are please that we got it done with the same quality and expectations as their competitors, at a realistic price. I recently had Rafael come out to give me options for insulation in my attic and I couldn't be happier with the results. His team was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient.
