I don't write very many reviews, but I had to share the great experience I had with Richard from Phoenix Energy Solutions. He was so professional and polite despite my obnoxious labrador barking at him the entire time. He quickly identified the problem with our unit and fixed it within 45 minutes. He even spent 15 minutes cleaning our filter which was very clogged. He went above and beyond the call of duty and I was very impressed. We just finished having a mini split system installed in our bedroom, master bath area. This company couldn't have done anything better for us IMO. This was a difficult install because we were putting the air handler in the attic and running ducts to 4 registrars. We had replaced our 20 yr old HVAC system in 2011. We were replacing it because it was old and because we were "guaranteed" our comfort level in the upstairs master bedroom/bathroom. These rooms had always run much hotter than the rest of the house with air on since 2003 when we bought the house. The company that did the new system did not back up their guarantee. They came back to our house 4 times basically just closing dampers and adjusting registers. On the final time they reccomended $3600 of duct work - this 10 mos after they had installed the new HVAC. I threw them out of the house at that point. My wife researched solutions and thought a mini split would work. We had 3 bids, Phoenix's bid was right in line with another company that bid and the third company was almost 3K higher. We saw the reviews for Phoenix and went with them. They got the parts in within a week and had two installers out on a Friday. The work looks great, they kept our house clean, used tarps etc. They got the unit operational by 4 PM and turned it on -- IT WAS HEAVEN, the 2 rooms on the new system cooled down in about 10 minutes. They fixed some duct work for us for $800 vs $3600 and the change in air distribution from the main HVAC is amazing. I firmly believe that we will save money on air this summer because the system is much more efficient and we will probably need to run it less. Would heartily reccomend this company, I will probably use them to do solar heating for my pool in 2016 I hope. read more

We had Phoenix come out to provide a second opinion on why our furnace wasn't working. Within the first 10 minutes, Jason was able to determine the cause and have a temporary fix in place until we could get the unit fully repaired. As it happens, we only had to wait a day before parts were delivered and installed by Jesse. We enjoyed the fast and competent service of the repair so much, we signed up for their Energy Savings Agreement (a bi-annual check-up that includes basic maintenance and checks to make sure everything is working properly.) We highly recommend Phoenix for maintenance / upkeep of your HVAC system! read more

We decided to have our AC unit evaluated and possibly replaced. Sadly, Micah was not available or no longer employed because the Phoenix rep on the telephone wouldn't take a message for Micah to call me back. Weird. Then, she sent a Phoenix rep out to me & made a mistake of informing me about a free estimate. The Phoenix technician informed that there was a $120 estimate charge. I had to turn him away. I had a problem with a warranty company that would not back me up with an approved contractor to fix a busted water heater. Long story short Phoenix took great care of me and went out of their way to work with my warranty company to remedy the problem even though they were not a contractor on my warranty companies list. The tech that came out, Jesse was very professional and knowledgeable. He was sooo fast and quiet we did not even notice he was there and was done before we knew it. Just wanted to recognize Jason's great customer service in performing some warranty work on our system. Phoenix installed our new system five years ago and the controller board went out leaving us without heat during Christmas week. I called after 5:00 pm and made an appointment for the next day. Jason came out and quickly diagnosed the problem and immediately got on the phone and found the only controller board in stock. He came back the next day and installed it as his first service call of the day. How can you ask for more service than that? read more

I got a quote from Micah back in December 2017 I was quoted a full HVAC system and all new ducting. MY unstairs was always really hot in the summer and cold in the winter and the old system could not keep up.At the time there was a pge rebate program that required a upgrade of the ducting to r8 and other test to get $1100 cash back . After 3 quotes from other companies, Micah had the best price after the rebate would be refunded. Fast forward to February, system was installed on the date that was promised and was finished in 2 days. All Ducting was removed and replaced and new system was installed as a mini split system. Everything went well and the new system heated and cooled my home like never before. The air now blew so hard you can hear and feel it and the upstairs was now warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. Now I never did receive my rebate from pg&e due to some issues but Micah made sure I received some compensation from his company for my trouble. In November 2018 I did have a issue and phoneix called me back and arrived at my home the next business day. All in all I am satisfied with their product and work performed. read more

I was looking for a company to install a new solar electric system for my home so I did my research and I contacted 6 companies for bids. After all the appointments I had narrowed it down to two companies, Phoenix being one of them. I had many questions and I emailed Micah, the owner, several times and he would always reply without delay. He was always very attentive and answered my multitude of questions and was patient to explain everything. He was very flexible and did not try to steer me in any direction of what I wanted, he just gave me his opinion of what would be best, the pros and cons. Imagine that, a contractor giving a customer what they really wanted without any pressure, and at a great price. I let Micah know that I was ready to have his company do the job and he promptly got things going. He was very familiar with HOA's and all the requirements and he was able to provide all the paperwork I needed to get my project approved. I was very impressed with the way the company delivered what they had promised and more. All appointments prior to and after the contract were all met on time and I never had any cancellations or no shows. My interactions with all his employees were found to be very polite, prompt, clean, and above all professional. He has one employee, Barak, who leads the solar installation and I could tell right away he really knew what he was doing and was very good at what he did. One thing I like to do to get an idea of how a company is run, is to ask the employees how they like working for the company. Everyone I spoke to had nothing but kind words for Micah and said they really liked working for him. That really showed up in their workmanship, friendliness, and finished product. In my field of work I have to deal with hiring and working with many contractors and from what I have learned in my 30 years is that only about 20% of contractors perform poorly, 60% do an average job, and 20% do great work and go out of their way to please the customer. Phoenix Energy Solutions is hands down in the top 10%. If I ever need any HVAC work or solar again, I would not hesitate to call them. These guys are great. They have everything dialed in digitally with text message updates and email billing statements so you know who is where and what they are doing when. Easy to keep track of status of servicing technicians and they pick up their phones. Reliable and good technicians. I hired this company to install a PG&E approved high-efficiency HVAC unit in the summer of 2014. In 2015, I had three service calls 11/2015 because water was gushing down from my ceiling onto my wood floors. Phoenix Energy assured me that they had "fixed" the problem. In 2018, I just happen to have a different HVAC contractor inspecting my attic and he noticed all kinds of code infractions with my installed HVAC. It was approx 18 items. I then reached out to the El Dorado Hills County Building permit office to have an inspector come out and examine my HVAC. They wrote up a list of the approx 18 CODE violations items that matched the 3rd-party contractor list of violations. ANd to boot, they officially RESCINDED the permit that was issued to PHOENIX ENERGY SOLUTIONS. After they had completed the installation of my new hvac, I realized that the thermostat was too small for me to read. We had Phoenix come out last year and clean our furnace (with a deal to inspect our AC in the spring). Richard was the tech and did a very good job explaining what he was doing. He also noticed our air return in the house was too small for the unit (something that was done before we purchased the house) and suggested we replace it. The total cost was under $400. When they inspected our AC last month, we had them replace the air return. The tech (forgot his name) was friendly and easily installed the larger return. Now the system runs quietly with increased air flow - all because Richard took the time to inspect the ENTIRE system including checking out duct work in the attic. Something our prior HVAC tech did not do. We recommend this company. read more

Maybe these guys do better when they actually show up. For me they were a no show twice. I called Barbara and she scheduled an appointment for July 1 at 1:00PM. No Show. After I had to contact her again via e-mail she said they IT problems? OK so I called her again and scheduled another appointment for July 14 at 1:00PM No Show. So Micah comes by on July 15 when I am not home, so I called him back and left a message, no return call. Very misleading Angie's List deal posted by Phoenix Energy Solutions Inc. This provider not only arrived late to the appointment but was in a rush, first thing he did once he arrived late was to ask to go to the restroom!!!. I'm shocked Angie's List is allowing this type of misleading providers to post deals with other hidden services that need to be purchased in order to get the deal!! that is very dishonest.. The deal has a long list of stuff to do, but he was in a hurry to go to next appointment and was going to leave all the leaves and debris inside the AC unit. Only when I told him about it , he used my hose to remove some of the debris.. According to him, he could not put the refrigerant listed on the deal to recharge my unit because according to him my unit was too old, and needed thousands in repairs or other option was to purchase a new unit that costs thousands, before he left, he gave me a brochure to buy another unit that is not even for AC!!! This is a deal scam, used to sell other services and products! My unit was still working the same way after he left!! Very deceiving service, where nothing gets fixed, but instead is used to sell products.. Since unit was not working properly, days later I contacted a different AC company and connections were fixed, and now AC is working!!! and unit was recharged!!!! read more

Let me start by saying that I'm the kind of person who rarely calls a service company out for anything. My mantra has been to do it yourself, and be as self-sufficient as possible. Over the years, I've learned the hard way, that a great many service companies are on the take, and only have their own interests in mind. I can say from recent personal experience, that Phoenix Energy Solutions isn't one of those companies. When the heater on my rental property started acting up, I diagnosed and repaired one problem with it, but the unit still had issues. I suspected it may have a cracked heat-exchanger, which is a huge safety issue. I immediately told my tenants to stop using it, and jumped on yelp to find a professional to come have a look. A review of the "Big Boys", you know, the big names in HVAC that you hear ad-nauseum on the radio and TV, revealed mostly pissed-off customers. Quite an eye-opener! Then, I found Phoenix. All positive reviews! I figured that if their service was awful, I'd at least have the satisfaction of blotting out their perfect Yelp record. Turns out, that was not at all necessary, they were just great. They arrived and quickly started tackling the symptoms I reported. I could see them doing tests on the unit that told me they were actually TROUBLESHOOTING, and not fiddling around, biding time until they thought the time was right to tell me I needed a new system, the age-old HVAC scam. Sure enough, my worst fears were confirmed when they unscrewed the top of the HVAC unit, and showed me the hole in the heat exchanger the size of a penny. I authorized the repair, and they came out on a SUNDAY and got it fixed. Both my tenants and myself are quite happy. Thanks again to Micah and Richard at PES for the great work. A neighbor's ac died right in the hottest part of the summer so it made us nervous. We wanted to get our ac checked for a decent price. We had never done any of the maintenance you're supposed to do. A lot of the places we looked up were $89 just for an ac check. Phoenix was running a special for $90 to have the ac checked PLUS they'll come back and check your heater in the fall and if you do need any repairs you can get 15% off. Great for us! I have always been pleased with Phoenix Energy Solutions, But Jason provided exemplary service this time. My daughter's heater wasn't running. I called this morning and Jason came by 3 pm. He determined that the furnace circuit breaker had tripped. After a thorough diagnosis of the system checked out OK, he took the circuit breaker panel apart and determined that heater circuit breaker was loose. He tightened the circuit breaker and explained that the loose connection could have caused the breaker to trip. He advised me to keep and eye on the breaker and advised replacement if necessary. We just got our hvac and solar done by this guys. They are absolutely amazing! They guide us with the step by step from permits to inspections to all the financing part. I mean they did all the work. They know what their doing, very experienced crew. We got quote from several places from big companies to other 5 star yelp review companies and so far they are the best with rate, and all the inclusions in their package. Our county inspector said they really did a good job. Every changes and requests we asked, Micah was flexible and open to accommodate all of that. Even with our loan, Micah ended up getting us the lowest rate than all the other companies we went. They have competitive warranty from labor warranty to parts to roofing everything included. Jason and Sam are some of the nicest professional guys around! I felt safe having them in my home even when my husband was not there. The layout of our house is very difficult and when the job went longer than anticipated, they never complained. My husband is in the construction field and is quite particular, so we were impressed that they worked to be accommodating to his requests. As far as cost, we did get another bid from another reputable company in the area. And then Micah, the owner of Phoenix Energy recommended almost the exact same systems but quoted a much better price. We loved his honest, genuine caring attitude. I would recommend him because I knew for a fact that what he was telling me was true and accurate which is hard to find in today's world! We love our new HVAC systems.
