They sent Thomas out to take a look, he was very up front about the condition of the unit and advised that there was alot of issues, which we totally get. He was very thorough and took a lot of reference photos and explained what he was doing. We agreed to look at getting a new system and set up a meeting with Kyle for later the afternoon. Kyle was also amazing and went over the pricing and options, you never want to pay for a new AC unit but it's a necessity here so and they made sure we had a great deal. The problem was diagnosed almost immediately and repair completed quickly. However the story doesn't end there! The initial repair led to the discovery of a secondary issue -- which was slightly delayed because we left on vacation during the first repair, so when we got back to a hot apartment they once again made us feel like we were top priority. When Jim couldn't reproduce the issue we had the second time, he even came back outside of his scheduled route to do a double check and was then able to diagnose the problem and complete a repair! During this whole process they received a lot of phone calls from me--enough for me to annoy them definitely, but they never came across annoyed. Gabrielle was always friendly and super helpful over the phone, and if she missed my call I never went more than 15-20 minutes without receiving a call back. In the same way, Jim was super friendly and responsive on-sight and explained what was going on in all of his work I would highly recommend this business and if I ever need HVAC service in the future, I know who I'm calling.

Ok, we are in the middle of a brutal heat wave so I didn't expect a call back so fast let alone having someone available to come over so fast AND fix the AC, but that's exactly what happened. An hour and $230 later and the problem was diagnosed and repaired and my house is now pumping out the most amazing cold air I've ever experienced (ok the cooler section at Costco might be a bit cooler but still). I've already passed this on to my entire neighborhood and strongly recommended they have a maintenance inspection from comfort king and Jim. Simply amazing and THANK YOU!!

I recently had an entry level Trane replace after eight years of service. The unit developed a leak and required filling every three years. I also had ducts that were falling apart from inferior materials that were installed when the house was built in 1994. Kenny came out to look at the job and gave me options from replacing the ducts and repairing to replacing the unit. I originally wanted the leak and ducts to be repaired, but Dwayne (owner) was onsite and offered me a screaming deal to replace the unit with all new ducts. He explained it would be easier if they were to start from ground zero to build a system around a new unit. They showed me pictures of the bad install job the previous contractor did causing the unit to prematurely fail. They were here for three days because they did everything right. The last contractor did the HVAC within a day and a half, so ICM takes a lot of pride in their work. This company mainly designs, builds and services commercial properties, so doing residential is a small part of what they do. They truly care for you as a customer and communications were excellent throughout the process. Prices are fair, but I went with the cheapest bid on my last AC and it didn't last. I got what I paid for, expensive lesson to learn.

I am a repeat customer having relied on Josh always quickly responding to any concern or need for repairs and particularly his bi-yearly check-ins on filter situations. Since I was experiencing problems with my older HVAC system which seemed to be related to deteriation of the probably originally installed ducting decades ago ( pictures are always provided for information) , Josh and I discussed the cost of repairs to my ducting system alone as opposed to the cost of replacing my aging HVAC system including ducting repairs. Having seen the extent of the ducting repairs alone which would really continually be needed, I decided to move along on both. Th prices were good and fair and I was already familiar with the quality of their work. Those who work for ICM are skilled and knowledgeable as well as considerate and friendly. They even provided cards to my neighbors to let them know if there was too much noise, .they would try to adjust! There never was a noise complaint. The email pictures of my brand new completed attic ducting and HVAC systems are amazing - and reassuring - and completed within the 3-4 day working estimate. Josh is the most caring and knowledgeable and customer oriented person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing or working with. He included me in any possible changes or adjustments needed. I have no worries that the new HVAC and ducting systems now installed will serve well. And if there ever is a problem, I can count on Josh to be there with a solution. I recommend always getting in touch with Josh and ICM when you have HVAC needs. And my thanks goes out to you, Josh.

They did not install the correct size return vent so our heater kept overheating. It would cycle on and off every few minutes and say it was heating when no air was moving. We literally had them come out 4 times before they found out what the issue one. The first 3 times they gaslit us and said that is was our Nest or a draft in an interior wall... I think they have only one good employee because the 4th guy to show up told us he liked to get paid for his overtime and would stick around until he got to the cause of the problem. Also when they finally "fixed" the return vent to a proper sized, they botched the install and had cracks in the ceiling and random screws sticking out in places. So they had to come back again to fix that mistake.

We also asked him to install a junction box under our gas cooktop for a 240-volt line. He ran the 240-volt line from the new sub-panel. This new line was in case we ever wanted to replace the cooktop with an induction cooktop. Most recently he came back to move the junction box, as we had decided to get that induction cooktop after all, and it spec'd a junction box lower down than Mike installed. (Of course, if we'd picked a cooktop ahead of time and had the spec, this extra trip would not have been needed.) Every time he's come, he's been on time, very pleasant, and cleans up any mess the job created. And, his jobs are very precise and neat.

When my family moved into our house, we already knew our roof would need to be redone and we hoped to get it to about 5 years post move in time. At year 4, our roof sprung a leak and so this was the first time AER came to the rescue. Chris Stohl got our repair coordinated quickly and efficiently but confirmed this was just buying 1 season. That next year we sprung a different leak but were just months away from it being the most perfect time financially. Chris came out and actually helped to tarp our roof to get us through the rain. Talk about above and beyond! I told him that we would do the roof that summer and he got a quote prepared. We did get some other quotes in the meantime and AER just was top to bottom better with warranty, materials and price point. We went with AER and they put our job on the exact week we needed. Megan and Rebecca coordinated the process the entire way. They were preparing us for all the expected noise, logistics and material delivery practically every day leading into the start day. When work got started, each inspector and crew member were polite and efficient. Our new roof went in perfectly to what we had expected. After project finish, there was a problem with dealing with the county office, through no fault of either us or AER (thanks former home owner from 20+ years ago). Rebecca and Megan did an awesome job communicating everything and thankfully the project wrapped up peacefully. Again, simply, AER took great care of us and helped to make sure everything went smoothly. We are looking forward to many many years in this home and rest easy with the security of AER quality promise. Thanks again!

About a year ago, I reached out about a potential leak, and Chris came out to assess the roof. He was incredibly honest and mentioned that he couldn't see anything that would lead to a leak. Still, he provided estimates for a partial fix, partial roof repair, and full roof repair. We ended up not needing the service but appreciated the honesty. Fast forward to this year, I reached back out to Chris for another potential leak, and he came out and assessed the situation again. This time, there were noticeable signs of leaks but nothing that was too concerning. He provided quotes for various options, and we felt comfortable moving forward with one of them. After this is where things started to not go as well as we thought. Once we signed the contract, we were issued an invoice for the deposit. As soon as I received it, I paid it the same day (almost within minutes of receiving it). Several days go by, and I don't hear back from the company to schedule our repair. I call the office, and for some odd reason, they cannot find confirmation that I had paid the deposit. I reassured the office that I had, as it was debited from my account, and I offered to forward the receipt and to have my bank verify that it was debited in the amount and to the correct vendor. They issued another invoice for the deposit as I was on the phone trying to dispute this, which was eventually cancelled, but it was a little annoying. After I forwarded the receipt, they scheduled our repair, so I assume they found the paid invoice. As someone who uses Quickbooks for business purposes, this is not something that's hard to track or find. So, I'm very surprised to have run into this situation. The morning of the scheduled repair, we received an email that said the crew would not be showing up. We were surprised because we did not receive prior notification that this was going to happen. My husband had scheduled his work week around this, so that he could be available for any questions or concerns. When we called the office, they said that they had called and left a voicemail, which we confirmed that we did not receive. They did, however, look back at their records and said they had misdialed and apologized. Again, for something that was last minute, we were annoyed again. On the day of the repair, Chris texted us, notifying us that we may be charged an extra $500 because their truck couldn't fit in our driveway. This was incredibly frustrating because that was not something he or the company mentioned would be an issue. In fact, Brad came out prior to install to inspect the old roof, measured our driveway, and even left his tape measure in the driveway! We called Chris and expressed our frustration at this, and he apologized and said they wouldn't charge us for this. If there were structural issues outside of what they initially found, I would understand, but when they clearly measured our driveway and left evidence of that and failed to notify us of this, that's a different story. Per the multiple project emails sent to us, there was to be a walkthrough and inspection from the crew's manager the day after they finished the roof installation to ensure the work was to our satisfaction. This did not happen, nor did anyone reach out to us to schedule this. Instead, we were immediately issued an invoice for the remainder. We had noticed several areas that looked very sloppy (I assumed this would be the case given the crew seemed very rushed by the end of the day and diminishing sunlight), so we called the office to have someone come out to walk through and inspect the finished work before we were willing to make our final payment. Brad came out and noticed the same issues that we had, and he took his time to get those areas fixed, which we appreciated. Overall, we are happy with a new roof. However, all of these little things made our experience not as great as we would've expected for the amount of money we invested.

A couple of years ago I noticed the amount of energy we were supposed to be getting with our solar panels had severely decreased as our SMUD bill increased. Someone recommended getting the panels cleaned. I saw a sign for Sierra Maintenance leaving our neighborhood and decided to give them a call. After they cleaned the panels, I noticed a lower SMUD bill the next month and in the subsequent months and even to this day. They also send before and after pictures which show just how filthy the panels can get. They also cleaned our gutters this time which I didn't realize had a ton of gunk in them. Our home is two-story ~ 4k sq foot. We have about 12 panels and it was ~$200 to clean them plus another $360 to clean the gutters. Excellent company, which I will refer to others as well as use again next year.

I feel that you can tell a lot about a company by talking to the person who answers the phone. Amber quickly inspired confidence in my choice of choosing this company to contact. She answered the phone immediately, was professional and listened to me carefully. She set up an appointment when Tony could visit. And she explained Tony would text me the day of the appointment with the window of time he would be arriving. Love organized and efficient. As per his word, Tony texted me and gave me a 4 to 5:00 p.m. window and showed up on time. For the next hour Tony evaluated the situation by getting a very close look at the problem area. He then went up into the attic for a closer inspection. When he came back he had pictures on his phone and explained what was going on. As it turns out there is an open area in the roof where rain water can get in. This likely created the spot that has now formed. He said it was fixable and would send me an estimate via email. If I agreed with the estimate, I would be added to his schedule. (Luckily this is a very slow leak and the ceiling spot is small.) Tony was professional, knowledgeable, and I was very pleased with choosing him out of many other people. The estimate was received the next morning! I absolutely felt it was fair and reasonable. He is a popular guy. I have a month's wait. As an aside: My neighbor was present during Tony's visit. He was so impressed with Tony that he asked for his business card. It was time to put the dinosaur to rest. After 28 years, 5 months and 28 days my AC started talking retirement. I was dreading this day because I felt this was going to be a time consuming process trying to weed out the ripoff artists. Luck, good fortune or maybe Murphy's Law was on vacation but all my fears of a complete furnace/AC replacement fell by the wayside once I met with Micah. He was very personable and patiently listened to my needs and concerns. I felt I was being served and not sold. I had several contractors on my list of choices but didn't have to go any further after meeting with Micah. A week earlier before committing to a complete system replacement, I had a problem with my AC. Micah sent one of his technicians to troubleshoot the problem. His technician seem to embody the same customer service qualities and knowledge that began the process of putting me at ease with Phoenix Energy Solutions. I also took some comfort that this company was on the list of approved SMUD contractors and was among only a few companies that had a 5 star rating on Yelp. I felt I need not look any further and wasn't disappointed. One of the main problems I always had from the time my AC was new was balancing climate control in my 2,000 sq ft tri-level home. After answering my 200 questions, many of which were of a technical nature, Micah took the time to explain at any level of detail I desired. He never pushed to sell me just anything but instead offered several suggestions as to what kind of system and the importance of system sizing that would probably solve my problems and save me money without having to refinance the house. On the May 2, 2012, they were on time to install a 3.5 ton, 16 SEER Rheem split furnace/AC system. They completed the job above and beyond my expectation in about 6 hours, even with me asking questions as they went about the business of completing the install. They all seemed to welcome anything I could throw at them without so much as a flinch. Over the past several days I have had a chance to use both the furnace and the air conditioner and I am as pleased as someone who just won the state lottery. For the first time the temperature, both heating and cooling, throughout each level of the home are balanced. It looks like I will no longer have to change the venting throughout each level of the house depending on the season. The balanced temperatures, I assume, is due in part to the two-stage cooling and heating process along with other operating and energy saving innovations. Bottomline, it was a pleasure doing business with Phoenix. read more

I just had a complete new heating/AC system installed by Phoenix. Micah is a terrific guy. His crew is, as far as I can tell, technically very thorough. They did a fine job on installing the new system, testing the ducts for leaks and making sure it all works as it should. It's a big improvement over my old system. I was very happy with his bid/price of the install and equipment. He's competitive with others - I've checked more than a couple. The only reason I gave him four stars is lack of complete cleanup and disposal. The guy installing the attic components (Richard I believe) did a fine job on the install itself, but lacked on his final cleanup. As part of the new system a bigger return was added (duct size was increased and the return intake was enlarged). Unfortunately he left the old return duct just lying up in the attic (which I found after poking around to make sure nothing was abnormal looking). It was about six feet long and 16" wide, and I had to pull it out of there and shove it in my trash can. I probably should have made them come back out and pick it up, but it fit in the trash. Other than that I can recommend them, at least for now. It remains to be seen how well the system works (3 ton, 15 SEER Rheem system with variable speed blower). For once I'm actually hoping it heats up so we can try it out in real world conditions. It was very cool today so other than the system test (heat up and then cool down a little to check the a/c), we really couldn't run it much. Update: 6/17/12 Now that the heat has kicked in bigtime (103 yesterday) I'm upgrading Micah to 5 stars. The system is working great, keeping us nice and cool. It even cycles like a properly sized system should. I guess I can forgive the cleanup issue since that was my only grip. I've now given them the extra star. read more

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. This was the first time I ever trusted Yelp 100% for a business suggestion. The time before, I used Groupon and had the worst customer experience of my life. Now I can rely on yelp, and great businesses like Phoenix that consistently get 5 stars. Micah serviced our AC as well as our furnace the first time we used Phoenix. The previous Groupon guy from another company had tried to get me to pay an excessive amount of money to get my ducts cleaned out, pointing to the dust around the vents. Micah said no, the ducts looked great, and that dust collects around the vents and all you have to do is vacuum the outside of the vents occasionally. 5 stars for being honest and not trying to rip me off! The second time I called Phoenix, our AC broke down on a Sunday in 100 plus degree heat. I had a new baby and thought I was going to be SOL to get someone to fix it quickly on a Sunday. Nope, Micah came out soon after my Sunday call, and fixed the AC that day and saved us. Both times I used them they were very reasonably priced. I really appreciated the honesty, and spending time to teach me about my AC and furnace and how to best care for it. Amazed that they came out so quickly on such a hot Sunday to fix our AC. It was last year, but the recent 100 degree heat reminded me how much I appreciated Phoenix and how I promised I would write a review. Better late than never. Thanks Phoenix Energy Solutions. Micah is AWESOME. My central air broke two summers ago. Since it was the end of the summer, I decided to wait until the following year to fix it. Last year I had another company come out to evaluate it and was told the repair would be around $2,000. I was told the unit wasn't worth repairing and I should buy a new one. Well, I didn't have the money to fix it or buy a new one so my family went without air conditioning last summer. Since then I learned about Yelp and started using it to find services. I decided to check out that business and noticed that most people were told their units were beyond repair. Going by the ratings on Yelp only, I chose Phoenix Energy Solutions for a second opinion. Micah quickly discovered the problem. He said the motor and compressor were good but the part that starts the compressor wasn't working. He replaced it and now my air conditioner works. I did quite a bit of shopping for solar (9 bids/proposals) and the Phoenix bid was not only competitive, but they were the only company that guaranteed the product delivered/installed and working regardless of any problems that might arise. If you read the other companies proposals, you will note that they reserve the right to charge for this, that, and the other - and, you and I know, "this that and the other" always happens. Another thing that gave me concern about the other companies, was that about half of them estimated production too high and estimated placement (amount of panels) inconsistent with the legal parameters required in El Dorado County. Well, I went with Phoenix and am so glad I did. A couple design and installation hiccups, but they keep their word - no extra charges. Yes, as good as it gets! We were under a tight time frame and knew nothing about mini-splits. We had already purchased a system but needed someone to install it right away. The trouble was that since we had purchased a system ourselves, everyone we checked with wanted to add a couple thousand for doing the paperwork. I found Phoenix by asking a neighbor for his recommendation and Micah - the owner - came out the same (hot) day. The house was inspected by the city (a new rental) and everything passed - including the paperwork we needed. And shortly after, when there were little bugs, always because we didn't know yet what to do, Barbara - the person who answers the phone at all hours- was always welcoming and responsive. My furnace pooped the bed and wasn't firing up. I was looking for somebody nearby who was highly rated. Phoenix seemed to fit the bill. I called them up before 8am, and got a call back by 8:30. Micah was able to swing by around 10:30 and have it fixed by noon. He did a thorough job and was professional. Turned out to be a bad ceramic igniter. Maybe not the cheapest around, but definitely not the most expensive. I think people tend to get what they pay for, and I'm pretty happy on this transaction. I used purchased a Yelp discount certificate to help save $50, which was nice. I'd definitely recommend them and give them 1st crack at future work, before trying somebody else out. FYI - I tend to be a tough review, reserving 5-star transactions for situations where I am totally blown away. All in all I am a happy camper, and would give 4.5 stars if I could. read more

Phoenix Energy Solution was the only company that came out and gave me an estimate on Installing a propane wall heater. The estimate Was adequate for two person installing the heater. Work began 3 days after I accepted. The guys came early and, finished the job with in the 4 hrs. They Punch 2 holes for the vent and gas line. They connected the piping from propane riser into the heater. They started the heater and instructed me on how it operates. They did good house keeping. I will recommend this company. I purchased the heater from a vender brand new. Other companies did not Return my phone calls and, other companies did not want to install the heater because I bought the heater else were and not from them. I called Phoenix energy solutions because my air conditioner had stopped. There was a faint humming sound coming from the compressor unit but otherwise it was completely dead. Phoenix sent out a technician that arrived on time. His name was Jesse and he performed his services in a professional and friendly manner. It took a little time for him to discover what the problem was, which turned out to be a contactor that had been invaded with insects. He explained to me that the best way to handle this situation was for him to perform a complete checkup of the system which would include cleaning the contactor.He performed these duties in short order and he left with a smile on my face. In the future I will tell all of my friends about Phoenix and Jesse, and will use them for all of my future heating and air-conditioning needs. read more

Our heater wouldn't turn on most of the time, and would only stay on for a minute or two when it actually did. I was so afraid that I was going to get talked into some super expensive and unnecessary repair. However, Micah rolled in and quickly determined that the unit was filthy on the inside and probably just not receiving the signal from the thermostat to turn on. The other possibility was that the control board had gone bad and needed replacing, which would have been almost three times the price of a simple cleaning and rebalancing of the unit. He pointed out that even if it were the control board, the unit would have to be cleaned in any case, so he suggested starting there and seeing if that worked- which it did! The old heater in our home developed cracks in the heat exchanger and was unsafe to use. We got several quotes and settled on Phoenix Energy to replace the unit. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive. The installation went quickly and we were very pleased with the result, they connected up to the old ductwork and extended the gas line and electrical as required for the new unit. All of the new piping was routed neatly and securely as well as painted, a very well done installation. Our existing duct system had some issues with the new energy codes but Phoenix quickly resolved those with no increase in cost. Micah even did the paperwork for the SMUD rebates. Received excellent service from Jason. Both my husband and I felt he was very knowledgeable, and complimented our big personalities... We were Very comfortable with him. Barak came out to my house to check out a possible issue with my solar where the micro inverters weren't reporting data to the envoy (so I can track my solar production). Turns out the envoy was too far away from the micro inverters, so weak reception. This visit reminded me how great this company is, and I should have left a review a few years back after the completion of my solar installation project with Phoenix. I recommended this company to my parents, and they also went with Phoenix for their solar arrays. Not only are they very reasonable on price, but everyone is nice, personable, and laid back. My air conked out during a 108 degree day about July 28, 2015. Checked yelp reviews and decided on Phoenix. I was not disappointed. Within one hour Jason was out and determined the air conditioner was shot and showed me why. They did not have a unit immediately available, but greatly relieved our discomfort by providing a portable air conditioner. Within two days we had a new unit installed by Jesse. These are extremely courteous, competent folks. They quoted a price which was very reasonable as I compared prices with another well known company. We used Micah and his team to install a new HVAC system in a rental a couple of years ago. They were prompt and installed the system when they said they would and all has been working well. When we recently experienced a problem at another rental unit, Phoenix Energy Solutions is who we called even thought they did not do the initial install. We had Phoenix Energy Solutions install a new HVAC system in our home which involved cutting a hole in our hallway ceiling to remove the old heater, and installing the new unit. They added a larger vent return which improved the efficiency. After patching, texturing, and painting the ceiling looked perfect. We decided to have our AC unit evaluated and possibly replaced. Sadly, Micah was not available or no longer employed because the Phoenix rep on the telephone wouldn't take a message for Micah to call me back. Weird. Then, she sent a Phoenix rep out to me & made a mistake of informing me about a free estimate. The Phoenix technician informed that there was a $120 estimate charge. I had to turn him away. I planned to spend the $1,500 they quoted but after they began to do work, price was increased to 3K. I was over a barrel as I don't live in the home and my renters were miserable in the hot weather. It is now July 10th and the owner (Dino) has no interest whatsoever in rectifying the situation. He offered to put the $3,500 which I already spent toward replacing the entire unit (his quote was higher than Costco's quote by the way) He also told me the price has gone up considerably since I received his first quote in April. Why in the world would I give them more $$ when my system now works worse than it did when they began doing work? I wish him no ill will personally but I do think that people need to be warned. I had him replace two thermostats at a cost of $774. I was told by two other contractors that they would have only charged $500. I feel that I was taken advantage of and customer service when I tried to call and send texts took three days to get back to me. He only responded after I send him emails. I had worked with him many years ago and have given him business over the years. You would think someone would want to keep a reasonable customer who pays in a timely manner. Very disappointing.

The services are over priced so that they lie about giving you "the member discount". They even states I needed to re-do stuff I've done on the prior service as if it was never done previously- liars, trying to sell unnecessary work. Finally, a local person is never available to talk to on the phone. You always get transferred to a third party person who doesn't care at all. They were the one companies that got back really fast. And when I say fast, I have put in a quote and I got an answer back within five minutes. They were very on top of everything asking me what I want done they gave me the price right upfront so there wasn't any surprises. It was a flat rate of $69 to do the AC tuneup. Then they gave me 5 to 6 choices for time scheduling to come out to do the job. They were able to do the job the very next day and the very first appointment at 9 am. Clayton was our technician who came out. He was very friendly, very polite and very respectful. I was able to walk him through the whole house to show him where the job was. I love that they were able to do a 21 point inspection for the AC tune up to ensure that the AC is ready for summer. These were few of the test that was performed: Thermostat: Ensures it's functioning correctly and calibrated. Filters: Inspects and cleans or replaces air filters. Electrical Components: Checks wiring, connections, and safety controls. Airflow: Verifies proper airflow through the system. Visual Inspection: Checks for any signs of damage, wear, or leaks. Operational Test: Runs the system to ensure it's operating correctly and efficiently. Clayton was also able to tell me that our filters need to change over and was able to give me the sizes so that I can purchase the correct ones to install for ourselves. He did a phenomenal job with the dryer vent cleaning, which also happened to be in the attic for us. He also told us that there was a small drip in there and was able to clear out the clog from the AC for us. He was very hands-on, very efficient and very thorough with everything. We had also asked them to give us a quote to move our AC unit which happened to be on our back patio. I love that I was able to ask questions and he was able to give me the different scenarios of what would work and what wouldn't work and why did & didn't work. Thank you so much for your honesty. They are a local business mom and Pop shop we love giving business to local business. We will definitely do business with them again and we highly recommend them to anybody in the area.

Tami, was super nice and sent someone out to our place within hours and the technician stayed till the job was done. At the end, we found out that the control board was bad.
