Terrible experience with this company. We are in the process of selling our home and the buyers hired this company to perform an HVAC inspection. While the technician was at our home (I won't name names) he asked to use the restroom. I said sure assuming he may need to pee. He was in there a while and left the door cracked and you could tell he pooped. I get it, when you have to go you have to go. I ran out for an errand and when I came back I noticed the smell was still lingering. I opened the toilet and was mortified to find a giant shit and when I tried to flush it bubbled up. So not only did he shit in our toilet but he clogged it and left it. He did not let me know or even try to unclog it. Not the way to start my Monday... and I know he was the one who did it because we have cameras in the living room that show the bathroom door and he was the last one to use it. To make things worse the appraiser came while I was out and had to appraise the value of our house with the downstairs smelling like a sewer. Completely unprofessional. I've been a loyal customer of Phoenix Air for over 13 years, having purchased two HVAC systems from them. Today, I called their office to check on my annual HVAC tuneup, which I didn't receive this past August. Peggy answered the phone; she mentioned there was a lot of turnover and since she was new, she wasn't sure. I asked how I could ensure I'm on the list for future annual tuneups, as I had been before. I also mentioned that if that wasn't possible, I might need to look for another service provider. Her response was, "You probably should just go ahead and find a new company then." That was quite disappointing. I share this experience to let potential customers know that, unfortunately, Phoenix Air may not prioritize loyal customers like myself anymore. Phoenix Energy did a very nice job installing a heat pump. The system will do our air conditioning and this time of year, our heat. They provided a very high quality unit, at a good price and were conscientious in all of the install efforts. Spencer did a fantastic job. I was having problems with my air ducts spewing insulation all over my floors, and I had plumbers working under the house previously for 4 days, and they damaged some of the air ducts. Spencer checked all the air ducts for damages, he secured all of the insulation that was sticking out of the air ducts, sealed the air ducts, had a pressure test done, adjusted the air flow on the airducts and checked and rechecked several times to make sure insulation is no longer coming up out of the floor vents. The circuit breaker was tripping on my Rheem heat pump. Contacted Phoenix and Justin was out the next morning. He did a complete diagnostic of the system and found a loose screw on the circuit breaker. Also found hundreds of acorns behind the breaker panel. Darn wood peckers! Justin was happy to answer all of my questions. Like that Phoenix has their service charges and am able to schedule an appointment on their website. Phoenix installed a complete HVAC system( heat pump gas furnace & all ducting) six years ago and this has been the only problem. I am very happy with the installation. Now the woodpeckers............ I am SO HAPPY I found Phoenix Energy Solutions - they are a true partner in the near and long term goals that I have for my home. Entering 2022, and having thoroughly researched SMUD's Home Performance Programs for electric upgrades to the house, including more efficient HVAC, electric-ready circuits for EV and water heater, seal & insulate, I was ready to have discussions with contractors. I had a goal to select a contractor and have work done during the shoulder season's where the impact of not having cooling or heating would be minimal. After a lot of research, I ended up talking directly with 4 contractors that then came to my home to understand what I was seeking and how they could match. There were other good contractors in this mix, but for me, it was a clear decision to choose Phoenix Energy for a few reasons: First, my project scope seemed to overlap strongly with their sweet spot as an Energy Solutions business. Second, they thoroughly come off as customer-obsessed (in a good way) and passionate about their trade. I was excited to work with them. Third, they acted like a partner and not a vendor. They took the time to understand my goals, to coach me on some of the tradeoffs, to listen to the point of view that I had developed from my own research as a non-professional. I had the privilege of working with various parts of Phoenix's teams. Steve was my primary contact who acted not only as an advocate for Phoenix, but also an advocate for my project and me. On the HVAC side, the gentlemen Dave and Ronnie were true professionals and a delight to have around. I would ask a few questions, and they would take their time, explain, or show me what they were doing. They also installed a whole house fan for me which has been very effective and a major energy saver. On the electrician side, Damian and Dustin (I believe those are their names) were a lot of fun. They installed a new smart main service panel, and it was a delight to see their excitement along with the passion behind their craft at work. They also installed new circuits for a future EV and for an electric heat pump water heater. The front office team was also incredible and between them and Steve, they took ownership of all of the SMUD rebate paperwork, which I can only imagine is a major headache. That was a MAJOR value to me as a customer, both in the rebate dollar value and what I had to pay out of pocket, but also in the administrative labor. This peace of mind was priceless. Micah the owner is also very personable, and I appreciated his involvement and follow-up as well. This project was major, but it is the first phase of a multi-phase and multi-year project. Gilmore installed a solar system on my home in Cameron Park about two years ago. The system went down recently and I called them to get it fixed. They had since gotten out of the solar business and didn't stand behind any of the solar work they had done for me. What seemed like a good start ended up being a mess. This company put in our HVAC. We were told we would get the really thick filter. Nope. Tyler "accidentally" left it out of the contract. The thermostat never worked correctly after two attempts. They put it in the wrong place actually but we can't move it now. We had to go buy a Nest one and install it ourselves. Works fine. They tried to blame it on Bosch. They never came or followed up for inspections so we could get our rebate. When I call and text they don't answer or return calls or texts. Still waiting for our rebate since December!!! Our electrician said they did not install correctly the wiring. I read others saying the same thing in the reviews. Just an awful experience. We spent 20,000 on our system and are still waiting for our rebate. They are horrible with their customer service. I never have been treated so poorly after spending so much money. Never got the filter, never got called back, never got our rebate. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Go elsewhere. read more

I have been attempting to get money back from this company for 5 years because they did not perform some of the items I paid for, this was directed by the technician and I did not have a choice. The technician told me it would be removed from the bill. That never happened so I continued to reach out to get this resolved. Time came to get a tune up for our AC unit this past week. I contacted Phoenix Energy Solutions almost 2 years ago when we first moved here to fix a minor issue with our AC unit that was discovered with the initial house inspection and I appreciated the honesty received from our technician. Instead of charging us unnecessary fees he simply informed me he could easily fix the matter with a cover tubing and explained to me in detail what he was going to do and why. After he finished he again showed me the work done and explained what was done. He was very friendly and very welcome. I remembered this and kept their information in my phone contacts for future appointments and matters. I am so very happy I did! The phone call to make the appointment was friendly and very welcome. My information was already in their database and I was able to make a visit request for the next day. A email arrived soon afterwards sending me a photo and name of our technician Steve. Steve was very personable, friendly and very helpful. The temperature was in the 3 digits and uncomfortably hot however Steve took his time tuning our unit and answered all of my questions in detail with explanations so I could understand. Soon afterwards my husband finished his work for the day so was able to join in the conversation inside our home and ended up having a great connection about the community and some of the fun activities and landmarks in the area. Steve also took temperature measurements inside our home and checked out our filters which is in great need of changing out. He gave us friendly suggestions and recommendations which was greatly appreciated. We found out our AC unit is the original one from 24 years ago and most units last on average about 12 years.... Eeks! Needless to say we are going to have to get a new AC unit sooner than later and we betcha there is no other company we are going to rely on for efficiency, reliability, honesty and most importantly comfort level with trust! read more

We bought a house in July and with the many 100+ degree days we had in Summer of 2017, we pretty quickly realized we had a problem. We noticed that the upstairs loft room was difficult to keep cool - it would only stay cool if we disabled the hallway thermostat and only operated the thermostat in the master bedroom. This house had two different thermostats so I didn't know if they were competing, if something was broken, or if I just don't know what I'm doing (to be fair it could be this +something else). Jason came out to perform a diag. Jason is a very nice guy - outgoing, helpful, funny. I like him a lot. In no time at all he determined we had a failed zone control board and a motor on one of the vent zone louvres was toast. He was able to quickly provide a cost estimate for repairs. I told him I wanted to get new thermostats for the house (highly recommend the new EcoBee 4) and have him install them at the same time as he performed the repairs. He said no sweat and to call the front office to have them order the parts when I was ready to have everything done. He said the parts were local so they'd be available very fast once I was ready to schedule. After my thermostats arrived I called in to schedule the repair/install. This took a little work - I must have caught them in a busy time because we played some phone tag and a call or two did go unreturned. However, once we got on the schedule, they were able to come out quickly and do the thermostat install + repairs. I still have a repair or two to perform to the HVAC unit here, which I will correct in the coming months. When I do, I'll definitely be calling Phoenix to have them come out and make the repair. They seem like a trustworthy company with very nice, and helpful people. read more

I have always believed the first point of contact in any business is often the most important and I can tell you Darcy is amazing every single time. You can tell she is a very important part of the team! Jason came out last summer when our AC went down during extreme temperatures. It was Thursday evening. Our old AC died a violent, ugly death after a long run of particularly hot weather. So, I looked at Yelp and the list of SMUD contractors to arrange estimates and see what it would cost to install a completely new system. Micah was very professional, friendly and helpful, even letting me know about SMUD's pre approval program to help speed the process along. The guys who installed the new system were very friendly and professional on a very hot day indoors without AC. They hit an unexpected snag putting in our new line that set them behind by a couple of hours and we had evening plans that prevented them from staying late and finishing up the job that day (otherwise I think they would have), so Micah and another guy showed up the next morning and wrapped everything up in a couple of hours. The new system works fabulously and we are quite happy with it and the service that we received. My only complaint is that they had to cut some holes in the ceiling to guide in the new system and it might take a little bit to get those patched by their drywall guy. I think they are crazy busy right now (and probably their drywall guy is, too), so it's understandable. I just don't like not knowing exactly when that will be repaired because it makes it hard to plan my week. Editing my earlier review--they returned my call and we scheduled an appointment to get the drywall patched. Micah showed up on time, did a great job with the drywall, and wrapped up the job well. Micah came out to check our system, which has been very finicky as of late. The AC whirs outside, but no air inside. I called Micah on a Saturday, and he was able to set up a time with me as early as Monday (pretty good for summer season I thought). When Micah arrived, the AC was actually working. I described our trouble, and Micah stuck around for 30+ minutes to see if it would mess up. Sure enough, the AC worked just fine for him. Even though he had driven all the way over here, he did not charge me a dime since he could find a problem. I told my father in law this fact later and he said "You keep his number and call him back whenever you need AC repair". Would not recommend this company to anyone. They do not care about their customers and do not provide adequate follow up service. As part of the sales contract, the seller of our home had a new HVAC system installed as well as some duct work done (supposedly). Phoenix did not complete the work or have the final inspection signed off on. When the county sent us a notice for required final inspection, Phoenix refused to work with us and charged us $89 to provide the paperwork that they should have handled before we ever took possession of the home. I can't believe the $89 we paid could be worth the ill will they generated with their lack of customer service. read more

Last night just before I crawled into bed I noticed that my house seemed to be freezing cold. I went to turn on my thermostat and to my dismay, it was already on. The temperature read 59 degrees. This morning when I woke up after a night of freezing toes and fingers, I decided to look for a company that could repair my heater. I browsed Yelp to find a company with good reviews, and there were many people singing the praises of Phoenix Energy Solutions so I decided to give them a call. I received a prompt response and was told that there was availability for someone to come out today, at the exact time I needed. Shortly after our agreed upon time Jesse showed up to my house with a friendly can-do attitude. He was polite and respectful and made sure that I was well-informed about the state of my furnace, and what needed to be done to get it working again. He worked quickly and effectively on replacing my furnace ignitor, and then went on to check my ductwork and distribution of heat throughout my house. I am very pleased with my interaction with Phoenix Energy Solutions and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC repairs. I work from home and typically have a few computers running at the same time. Needless to say, it get HOT in my 180 ft office. We decided to a mini split would be the be the best solution. We contacted a bunch of HVAC contractors and ultimately decided on Phoenix Energy because of Micah. He was real straightforward and gave us a quote on the spot. WHAT A GOOD DECISION. Micah was able to work with our budget and our time frame for install, and contacted prior to confrim. We liked that. Day of install, Jason showed up super nice and accommodating. He was able to get the majority the install done early in the day. He was very respectful of my working while the install was going on and super communicative. A great representative of the company and general all around nice guy. These things alone would have been enough to merit 5 stars, however later on in the afternoon as they were finishing up and me and my wife were going outside to inspect, Micah mentioned almost nonchalantly, that they discontinued the model we selected so he upgraded us the newest, best model on the market free of charge.
