Made an appointment with Matt for estimates on replacing our gas water heater with an electric heat pump water heater, and also wanted to get a quote on replacing our a/c and gas furnace with a heat pump and air handler. Matt showed up on time, and spent a long time patiently discussing both installs. Absolutely zero sales pressure. 4 days later, we received the detailed quotes via email. As these were our first estimates, we had nothing to compare them to. We had another estimate lined up, but before we could get the written quote, our water heater started flooding our basement (how's that for timing?!). We called, and Matt spent a lot of time to get the water heater and crew asap. The installers were able to come just 4 days later, remove our old water heater, install the new one, and do all the associated work (there's quite a lot). The 3-person team (Michael & his crew) did a stellar job, being able to avoid adding a pump to deal with the condensate line by adding a stop valve, and avoided running electrical conduit all over our garage by going through the attic. Everyone was extremely pleasant and polite, and they cleaned up any mess they may have made. Bobbi is with out a doubt one of the best HVAC service technicians I have ever dealt with. He is on time and explains in layman's terms the entire service call and his recommendations. They not only correctly diagnosed the issue but admitted the problem did/could have come from a now-fired tech they had and did the work to remedy that free of change. I discovered Sierra Valley Mechanical through SMUD's heat-pump rebate program in which I reached out to three different companies. I completed the website form on a Sunday night and didn't expect to hear from anyone until Monday morning. To my surprise, I received an email from the owner, Mike, in about five minutes! We went back and forth in email and even though I told him I had two other companies I need to vet he was quick to place me on his schedule knowing that I needed the service completed quickly. Call it confidence to win a bid but it's also excellent customer service. Operations Manager, Matt,, was out the next day to assess the need and I had a quote the end of the day. Needless to say, I think it's obvious by me writing this review that Sierra Valley Mechanical won the bid. While they weren't the cheapest or the most expensive, they had the best proposal and Matt highlighted needs the other two contractors neglected. That gave me assured that Sierra Valley Mechanical was the right company to do the job. The process to accept the contract and receive the county, state, and federal rebates was effortless thanks to Suzy. She called when it was needed and emailed when it wasn't. In no time, all the rebates were taken care of and the contract signed. The crew arrived on-time and introduced themselves. Francisco, Kris, and Eric were friendly and made an effort to work without disrupting our daily household activities. It only took them about a day and a half to complete the project and when it was done, we had sweet cool air. There was no mess left behind the work was done top notch. Francisco wouldn't leave until he was absolutely sure I was happy with everything. Since he left, you know I was. :) Sierra Valley Mechanical did such a great job on my system that I had them back two weeks later to replace the second smaller living quarters HVAC which was running fine. 5 years ago another company (the no surprise folks) told me my upstairs AC was shot and needed to be replaced... they shut it down and we were without AC or heat the remainder of the year... that winter our downstairs furnace went out, Sierra Valley fixed that and offered To take a look at the unit the Brothers said needed to be replaced.. they found it was a 300.00 part and we were back up and running. Now it's 5 years later and that same upstairs A/C unit went out - I was thinking it was the end... Thanks to Sierra Valley, I now have cold, clean, more efficient HVAC. After 5 visits from 5 companies, they were the only ones who listened to what I was needing to accomplish. As the temperatures are creeping towards 90, dead HVAC in the middle of a global pandemic... a week ago that was me. In these strange times Sierra Valley was the ONLY company who came out for quotes that even remotely attempted (and succeeded at) wearing PPE and practicing social distancing. Not only was life in the middle of a pandemic a little chaotic, add to it a heatwave (in August, go figure!!), California wildfires and then the really bad air quality, but my AC decided it had had enough. WTH is going on in the world. I started calling around to get a repairman out here in hopes of a quick fix, nope!! It's broken he says, it's done croaked! And it will be about 2 weeks to get a new one as supply is high right now due to the heatwave. Really?!! We had been experiencing issues with our heater for a few months. Francisco and Jonathan came out several times on service calls and did fix the problem. They were both professional and friendly! Well our system was super old 25-30 years so it was time for a replacement. We didn't hesitate to use Sierra Valley. I worked with Suzy and Brianna for a quote and install date. We got both very quickly. They called to remind us of our installs date--- like I could forget since we didn't have any heat. . The Whole crew arrived on Monday and hit the ground running. The were friendly and professional. They worked as a team - very efficiently. Mike and Gab were on site both days Matt was onsite the first day and thoroughly explained the install process for me. Mike and Gab returned on day two to complete the install. Even the crane driver/operator was a good guy. And he didn't drop the unit through my roof. They ran into minor issues the second day- but handled them and kept me informed all day. These guys even clean up after themselves. Approvals and PTO. We ran into several hiccups. From City and SMUD approvals to the installer leaving the wrong cover on the meter box. Based on my prior good experience with the company when they replaced my gas water heater with an electric water heat pump back in February, I didn't hesitate to contact the company again to help with my father's house HVAC. Matt, the operations manager came out to diagnose the issue and provided us with clear options and explanations, including current available rebates. There was no pressure from him on any of the options. He even helped us to re-install our smart thermostat, which was deemed to be defective by another technician from another company. Luckily I was referred to Matt at Sierra Valley by another hvac professional who felt my job was too big for his company but knew the right team to connect new with. From the first conversation I was impressed with the transparency, professionalism and can do attitude Matt has. My job was complex and needed a lot of creative thinking . Matt's experience really helped figure out a good plan. He price compared different units/manufactures, factored in supply chain issues , and made some calls to make sure we got the best equipment at best price as fast as possible - he had all the parts within a week and saved me $in the process. Also importantly I wanted to take advantage of smud rebates and Matt really went above and beyond making sure I got ever rebate I was entitled too and handled everything needed to get rebates . This is something not all the have companies would do for me on my project. I had no headaches or worries and in the end got about 14k in rebates!!! And I was even more impressed with the execution of the installation . Sarah (amazing lead) , Eric, Jordan , and Bobby were a great crew who tackles the job with professionalism and hard work.
