Once again Elite Heating and Air came through. Ac condenser fan stopped working a couple days ago. I decided to diy it and replace the capacitor myself. Didn't fix it. Called Elite and got assured someone would be out to check out my system. Mark, the technician, showed up friendly and professional. I told him what I did and he tested both my old and new capacitor and sure enough both were bad. Replaced my capacitor and the fan kicked on right away. Unfortunately I just missed out on my 5 year warranty for my HVAC so I searched around and found this company through Yelp. The issue was that my system was on but no cold air was blowing and I had a condenser replaced under warranty in the past for the same issue but now my problem was back. Their communication was great as they called and/or texted for every appointment. The caveat was that my service was expensive; totaling to $7224.92. I have the receipts to show full transparency on what you may expect to pay to replace a evaporator coil outside of warranty The one thing I appreciated was that the techs were able to come at the beginning of the service window instead of the end. I hate when a company tells me that someone will show up from 12-4pm and they come at the end which then they start work and it's additional time from there. I only ran into one situation with Elite where the tech was running slightly late and I received a call to set expectations with me which I appreciated. I work in the new home construction space and asked around with our HVAC guys and it sounds like maybe I got taken for a ride on the price but that's on me. I would suggest to get multiple quotes but the job is paid for and my system works so hopefully I buy once and cry once. The freon used was R410a which I was charged $185/lb and when calling around, the lowest I found another tech could do was $150/lb. Also, for the service itself, it was $2500 to replace the coil and the job took roughly around 3-4hrs from setup to finish. I called my initial tech on how they arbitrarily got that number and he simply laughed and said unfortunately it was non-negotiable but he understood it was pricey. I called around and got roughly the same quote to replace a coil and so I'm not sure if the HVAC industry just agreed on one price which would be my conspiracy theory. If you work out the math, the techs were getting paid $650-$833 an hour depending on how fast they work which is crazy! More than many lawyers out there. At the end of the day, my initial tech was super nice. He provided me his contact info and was able to answer his phone every time I called or texted. The installers were two separate people; my was a primary person and the second looked like an apprentice. My request for Elite is for the second guy to not take personal called inside my home as he's on a job at the moment. Overall, the system works now. After 25 years or so my home's ac was completely dead and needed replacement. I got an estimate from one of the biggest outfits doing this and it was very high, and they were busy and they wouldn't seem to accept any form of payment I proposed despite excellent credit. I've been using this company for about 5 years for local service, but after my recent experience, I'm done. I had an ECM blower go out on a unit that was under warranty. The part costs about $400 (based on a quick Google search), but since it was covered by warranty, I figured it would be a simple fix. Instead, Elite charged me $1300 for labor and processing the warranty return. The technician was at my property for less than 30 minutes. If the part wasn't under warranty, it would've actually been cheaper for me. When I reached out to the office to discuss the charges, they explained their flat-rate pricing policy and wouldn't budge, stating that I agreed to the quoted price. This was for a rental property, so I needed the AC repaired urgently, but I won't be making that mistake again. It's disappointing to see companies taking advantage of customers like this. I ended up getting a quote from another union-based shop for just $450. Lesson learned: always get multiple quotes before committing to a service. read more

The tech was early, friendly and respectful. He assessed the situation, diagnosed the issue and gave a couple of options to fix short term and long term along with quoted for both solutions. Elite Heating & Air Conditioning is a definitely a 5 star company. I purchased a home in September 2023 knowing the furnace would need to be replaced. I didn't think it would be 3 months later. Elite was one of the recommended providers listed on SMUD website. I initially spoke Anthony who scheduled someone to come out the same day. Christian arrived on time, very polite, respectful and completed a thorough inspection. He was the only Technician that asked me if I had a budget or price range. I really appreciate that after just purchasing a house. Christian provided me with a quote as soon as he got back to the office for a great GE HVAC systems. It was the best and lowest quote I received. The other quotes were ridiculously high. Moving forward with Elite, Anthony scheduled and explained the installation process. Christian and his team finished several hours ahead of schedule! They were prompt, efficient, removed the old HVAC system and left zero mess to clean up! After the installation was complete, Anthony assisted with the rebate paperwork so I would received $7K in rebates. These guys are awesome! Having to replace an HVAC system, when you know nothing about HVAC systems, can be an overwhelming. Have used Elite for years for minor repairs to my air conditioning system. This time I suspected an issue with thee with the blower. They confirmed my diagnosis. Given that my existing system was 20 years old and cost of replacing the blower and motor was significant, I requested quotes for a replacement, furnace and AC unit and one for a new heat pump. The Elite repair person took a couple of photos, and Elite sent me two quotes. Due to energy rebates, the heat pump cost less. I also contacted two other well-advertised companies for the same quotes. They both came and did a load calculation/inspection and noted that some additional work/upgrades were needed. I called Elite and they added the additional work to the Elite quote at no additional cost! The high quote was double the Elite quote and was for a less efficient heat pump! The second quote was almost as high. The Elite crew did a good job installing the new unit on one of the hottest days of the year (I felt for them in that hot attic). They started at 8:30 am and worked until they were done at 8 pm. The crew was clean and good natured, even with me standing over them (I'm a retired project engineer - career habit.) Manufacturers duct connection requirements have changed in the 20 years since my old unit was installed. When I pointed this out, they made the change to the new requirements - again no extra cost. This work required them to enlarge the opening to my attic space. Which they did carefully and painted the completed changes to match the existing paint job. They respond quickly and get you an appointment time quickly which is very helpful. I had to get a whole new HVAC system last May. Very polite and respectful. But the first time I tried to turn on the AC it didn't work and I had to call them to get them back to fix it. Then this winter, the first time I went to use the heater the fan was stuck on and wouldn't turn off. I had to call them back again to get them to fix it. To get this issue fixed they had to come out twice on two different days. Thankfully my dad could come and be at my house for these appointments because I couldn't afford to take all these days off for them to fix issues that they didn't set up correctly in the first place. read more

Our A/C broke down due to a bad compressor. They were quick to respond and sent out Alex, one of their technicians to get things up and running in less than an hour. It's pretty pricey to get a new compressor so be prepared to pay a pretty penny for a new one. I highly recommend Elite. read more

Updated review: I've discovered a couple of small problems with the installation and after reporting them I've received nothing but excuses, blame and lack of accountability. They were fixed. The first one took several visits to correctly identify the problem as the air gap being left plugged. I was blamed for the problem and they tried to get me to agree to an emergency call, which I declined. This was while the warranty was still in effect. The second issue was the one of the ducts was left detached from the vent. I noted that I wasn't getting good air flow in that particular room during the walk through, and after running some tests I was told that everything was fine. None the wiser, I accepted their "expert" opinion. Years went by and I hired another company to do a yearly maintenance, and when I told that tech of the problem, he told me that was not right and the airflow should be working correctly. After the tech left, I looked in the vent and I could see light filtering through the vent. I didn't think that looked right, so I called Elite and explained the situation to Anthony. Anthony was very reasonable and understood the problem, which he said is covered under the labor warranty. He sent a technician out who, upon inspecting the vents in the attic, informed me that the duct was not attached to the vent and someone would return to fix it. About an hour later, Christian arrived with a doctored up copy of the contract and asked me if I had a copy. His copy was not signed, nor did it mention the duct work at all and he was trying to get me to pay for their mistake. I think they were counting on me not having my signed copy anymore and were trying to stick me with a huge bill. Luckily, I still have my signed copy of the contract and he had the technician re-attach the duct. It took 10 minutes to do the work, but he left saying "We did you a favor." He repeated this 3 times! His Claims Adjuster type of attitude was quite unpleasant. Please see the attached contract and judge for yourself if this was a "favor" or not. This attitude is going to lose them a lot more customers. If the review was for the Claims Adjuster attitude alone they would get 1 star, but I like to be fair and consider that some of the other employees are professional and reasonable. read more

Our Carrier A/C and Heating Central Air (HVAC) Unit had been acting up for the past several months and a SMUD-approved contractor happened to come door to door to mention SMUD's rebate and introduced a newer heat pump system that's electricity-based without natural gas. We were interested in the idea of energy and fuel efficiency, and our existing unit was 31+ years old. We made an appointment with the SMUD-approved contractor for an estimate along with 2 other companies. The 2nd estimate was from a Costco-approved partnership that sold Lennox products, and the 3rd estimate was with a local business called Elite Heating & Air Conditioning. After getting estimates from all 3 companies, we decided to go with the local business Elite Heating & Air Conditioning. They are not the least expensive estimate, but they were competitively priced for what they offered. We were extremely impressed by Christian who runs the company. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the products and services his company provided wowed us. He answered any and all question we had about the services and systems and what to expect. The reviews we've read about the company's integrity; ensuring a high quality, professionalism and pride in their work; ensuring their workmanship follows the codes and permits; and always keeping up-to-date with the latest technology on energy efficiency and available rebates, it completely sold us on deciding to have Elite remove and install our new system. We had our unit replaced in early April. After seeing how they worked, those reviews were spot on and absolutely correct. The Elite team that came out to do our job was run by a young, professional and highly motivated crew. As older clients we are impressed and excited to see the enthusiasm these young professionals have in their craft, especially when the trades can use more skilled workers who will be around for years to come. I regret not researching other companies about their maintenance contracts. Elite charges $50 for which they will service the AC and Heating units once each year (this is pretty standard). Their people seen competent, but I always wonder if they get paid a commission to "discover problems" which need to be repaired. I had an experience that they told me that my ducts were dirty with dog hair and dust. The interesting thing is that there was never a pet in the house. The technicians are quite good at finding parts that "should be replaced". Mind you that this is just me wondering about all the things that "should be replaced". read more

The information below is accurate, but dated. I called Elite based on their Yelp reviews, but didn't have nearly the good experience as others. I originally called on Monday and was told they couldn't get there until Wednesday and that the fee to show up and diagnose the issue was $129, which did not apply to the repair. Based on the length of time to get there and the fee not applying to the repair, I chose not book the appointment. The woman I spoke with was very nice. Because of my schedule, I was unable to continue searching for a company, so my wife took over. She didn't realize I had already called Elite, so she called them as well and scheduled them to come out on Thursday. They quoted her $79 for the exact same thing they had quoted me $129, a $50 difference. Bryan arrived on time and was very pleasant. He diagnosed a bad motor and gave us a quote of just under $800 if we purchased their year maintenance program for $143.50 extra, or almost $1100 if we didn't. We were stuck without air so probably would have just done it, but they couldn't do the repair until the following Wednesday, a week later. No way we were going to go another week without AC, so we declined. Needless to say, I was not happy to find out that the person they sent for the call three days after our first call wasn't there to fix the problem, and we would've ended up going 10 days without AC. That's something that should have been conveyed on our initial call but then, they seem to have vastly different prices even for that. Ultimately, I called Figueroa Heating and Air based on a referral. I called them on Thursday afternoon, after Elite had left and they arrived the next morning to install the same exact motor and capacitor with the same 1 year warranty, for $475 total, a savings of almost $500, over 50%. read more

I have used Elite for service on both my heater and A/C. I believe them to be honest and fair and knowledgeable. Very professional, and explained everything in a way I can understand. Showed me the parts to be replaced and explained why, even gave me one for free that was an "extra" on the truck. Never tried to upsell or tell me I needed a new unit. What more could you want? This is the first positive review I have ever written for NOT having received service and it is well deserved. I manage 11 rental properties and my own home. That's 12 separate furnaces and 12 separate A/C units. I have been using Elite exclusively for over 8 years now and have always been happy with their service and quality of work. During this crazy year with pandemics, record setting heat waves and terrible air quality, I have not received a single complaint from any of the 11 tenants or my wife in regard to A/C or indoor air quality this year. I cannot think of a better testament to the quality of the work done by Jason, MaryAnn and Christian over the past several years. Jason shares his knowledge freely as he tries to educate me about Heat and A/C to help me better care for my tenants.
