I'm nervous to let someone look at my A/C unit with all these videos of scam fixes and greed. But the ratings and philosophy of this company to overcome that stigma really paid off. David was super nice, professional, and gave me peace of mind that my 2018ish unit that came with the house is in excellent condition. They recognize the quality of my HVAC system, and encourage me to continue maintaining it until a major system fails (like a compressor, for example). Heater wouldn't stay on more than 2 minutes, tried to google issues it might be. Did the first 2 that I could do without any knowledge. I have a 22 year old HVAC system that seems to run fine so I am interested in keeping it going. David came out and did an assessment and came up with the suggestion to install a Hard Startup Kit on the AC system (cost around $300+). I never heard of this component (none of the various HVAC maint people ever brought up the idea). Basically it reduces the wear and tear on the AC compressor. When the compressor fails on an older unit one has to replace the whole HVAC (big bucks!!). That seems like a good way to extend the longevity of the HVAC. Now is not the time to buy a new HVAC given the new refrigerants being in short supply and the potential increase in costs from tariff taxes on foreign made units and parts. Sierra Aire's focus on maintenance (not sale of new systems) gives them a different perspective on service. When one considers that a new HVAC costs $15K+ and are sold with the expectation that they last only 15 years, it makes sense to keep them going as long as possible. It is a pretty expensive part of home ownership when one looks at it that way. read more

Where other companies wanted to sell us a whole new AC unit, these guys were willing to actually fix the problem so we can get a few more years out of our system. Our A/C went out and was blowing warm air during the middle of summer, and as a 6 month pregnant woman this was a huge problem and inconvenience. My AC went out Saturday evening. I called/texted them and David responded first thing Sunday. By then, I already started troubleshooting and identified the failed capacitor. He said he could fit me into his schedule on Sunday and provided a quote for a diagnostic and a quote for a replacement capacitor. He suggested that the capacitor is where he would start anyway and that I could try replacing it myself to see if it resolved the issue and that he would come by if it did not. He said if it wasn't the capacitor, then it would likely have been a motor. The replacement capacitor ended up resolving the issue. He was prompt to respond and provided a reasonable price. Our heater would not turn on and we called Patrick from Sierra Aire and he was able to come the same day. He explained everything very thoroughly and found the problem right away. He told us that he needed to replace the pressure switch that took about 15 minutes and my heater was up and working right away. While he was here he said he could take a look at our air conditioner and found that it needed a dual run capacitor so it would not surge the system and would run better and efficiently. I used another company about 8 years ago to service my system and they told me my HVAC was in dire need of replacement and about to die and for about $18,000, they could set me up with a new one. I explained my previous bid and diagnosis and he talked to me about it and gave me a quote over the phone explaining that he would need to verify that this was the problem. He text me back later that night with an appointment time for the next day. He explained everything to me and was very kind and didn't mind going over it all.
