It was 108 today and the AC goes down. What to do, start making calls. After having to hear that the next opening is 4 days away from some AC companies, I call Alex (the owner) if there is a chance he is available. At 12:00 he informs me that he can fit me in between 1:30 and 4:00! Alex comes by at 2:00 and makes a quick diagnosis and gets the AC up and running. The impressive thing about Alex is that he is friendly and HONEST. He started his day very early today and he will be making people feel relieved that they can survive the next week under this heat wave. Usually I just read reviews, not in the habit of posting them but ever since my AC split system in our rental property kicked the bucket I was in search of a good, trustworthy company that can fix it quickly. My tenants were left without AC in 100°+ heat so I called around and many HVAC techs were booked 3-5 days out. Came across High Performance heating and air, I was impressed with great reviews so I've decided to call them. Spoke with Alex in the evening and in the morning he diagnosed the issue. Turns out, our tenants ruined our AC by hiring someone on the side who added the wrong Freon to our R-22 only system, and basically rendered it useless. At this point it made more sense to retire our 20+ year old AC unit rather than to deep vacuum it and refill it with R22. With two different types of refrigerants in AC system, according to some HVAC websites compressor was a goner anyways. Besides, in 2020 R22 Freon will be phased out/ banned and recharging your old AC units will cost you an arm and a leg. Alex quoted me $5K for new 2 ton Trane R410a split system (furnace and AC) with installation, inspection permit, HERS test and haul away old unit. Just to be sure I was getting a good deal, I've also called another local HVAC company for free quote. Their total was $11,800 for the same system. To make a long story short, Alex installed everything in one day and inspections were done the following two consecutive days. All in all, I'm happy, and my tenants are as cool as ice. It saved me a good chunk of money. I'll be sure to update my review if I have any issues down the road but so far so good and I hope (wishful thinking) we get 20 more years out of this system. Our heater stopped working on cold & rainy night. Called few friends to see if they had any reference for good heating and air technician and was given the number for this tech. I called Alex after 10:00 pm and left a message. Received phone call from him early in the morning and by 11:30 am he was at my house and within 1 hour he found the problem and fixed it right away for the decent price. Of course I noticed my AC wasn't working properly just when the hottest day of the year caught us by surprise. Needing a professional to look into it further I was very apprehensive about trusting someone to come out and diagnose it. Fearing the sales pitches and deception of what could actually be the problem, I had called around to a few places I felt confident in. After multiple attempts with no responses, I tried a few other places. Finally reaching someone, I quickly found most were booked out to mid June which wasn't going to fly. Feeling defeated I decided to look more locally and came across HIGH PERFORMANCE HEATING AND AIR. I called late evening, left voicemail and quickly recieved a callback from ALEX. He was able to get me an appointment early next day. What a relief! He showed up on time, was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the issue quickly. New to Sacramento and my air conditioner was starting to act up. I call a company that advertised a lot. They came out for the $89 fee to give me a diagnosis for my air problem. Said I would need a new system. Crap that is a a lot of money I don't have. So I called for a second opinion. I asked a nurse who helps with my son he asked his apt manager and was given High Performance number. Called and they came out the next day for $49 diagnosis and ended up fixing the issue and the charge was $120!! Now what a huge difference. First company didn't even try to fix and didn't give me other options but High Performance did. Service tech was courteous and explained the issue. Don't know why there are no reviews yet. Alex was recommended by a friend. I was in a jam. It was 108-110 all week, I have 2 young kids, a pregnant wife and my A/C stopped working. So I was afraid of being taken advantage of and since my wife is pregnant I probably would of done whatever he said. It was late at night and Alex came the next day. He diagnosed it, told me it was a great unit and it just had a bad capacitor. He replaced it and got it working in no time. I did not feel overcharged or taken advantage of one bit.
