Two years ago, my 21 year old Hydronic HVAC system started giving me cooling problems. The heat worked fine, but the cool air was starting to not be so cool. A friend of mine who lives in the same complex recommended A COOL AIR INC. upon which I had reached out. I was hoping to just get it serviced, but because of the age and the freon it used, I was informed that they no longer carry that freon due to it was no longer produced and that I might find a company that has it. Found one that was able to give me 2 more years and very much appreciated the honesty the A COOL AIR gave. November 2025 it was time to change it out. Made the appointment, received the estimate after inspection, was informed of the rebates both for SMUD as well as Federal Tax Credits and gave the go ahead. They had it installed in 2 days' time, and let me tell you, this new system? Makes me come to terms that I never really had a real one to begin with!!! I was given options to which one would work best for my unit (I live in a condo) and wasn't swayed one way or the other. Chose one, and I am SO THANKFUL I did! These few days in the 90's so far have given comfortable and cool air throughout my home and including my bedroom which never cooled off or heated up to the rest of the house. I held off on giving a review because I wanted to make sure the cooling worked and it does!!!! A Cool Air was very easy to work with. I found them on yelp and they gave me a quote over the phone to install a defrost board I had ordered and scheduled service the next day. Their quote was much better than the company that had installed our heat pump and had left us without heat for 3 weeks in December saying they couldn't get the part that I got overnight. A Cool Air guys were tremendous help to us. Previously they serviced our system, and it worked very well. Few years later, just about now, the old 20+ year old unit finally had its last breath. The internal coil leaked, and they were able to pinpoint to the exact problem. They gave us a couple options repairing, which was costly, or replacing the whole system. Hired A Cool Air because I had some very simple work do get done and they: 1. Provided a quote over email when pretty much everyone else would not unless "they came out to inspect the equipment first" for a trip fee. Then if I did not like the price with those other companies after the visit, you still had to pay the trip fee. 2. A Cool Air was 50-60% cheaper than the 2 other quotes I was actually able to get over email. Again, I had some very basic work that had to be done. I probably could have done it myself but if the price is right, I'm willing to have a professional do it. Hopefully they won't raise their prices over what I said about being cheaper. : ) read more

I've used A Cool Air several times over the last 12 years or so. Initially when I moved into my home I was having sporadic issues with my hvac and I had another company come out who told me the only option was to replace my system. I got a second estimate from A Cool Air and they agreed that the system was aging and would need to be replaced eventually, but they were able to fix it for under $200 and I got roughly another 4 years out of it before I decided to replace it. It was still working when I did. Since then, I've had them out every other year or so to inspect my system and they have never tried to upsell me anything. I recently purchased a rental and was having an issue with the older HVAC there. They came out, diagnosed the problem, and again advised it would need to be replaced at some point, but were able to get it fixed for a reasonable amount. I recommend A Cool Air for HVAC services. I hired this company 12 years ago to replace the AC in my rental property. Tenant reported last week AC was leaking so i called them I knew it wouldn't be under any warranty. They came out and only cleaned the P trap and left quickly. Tenant said they were only there about 10 minutes and did not run diagnostics and fully inspect the system like they should have based on the $150.00 bill I got. Tenant went to turn it on two days later and it wouldn't turn on. Took several days and a couple messages to get a response and appointment. In the meantime tenant bought a new thermostat and replaced it but it still didnt work. When A Cool air came out again they said the thermostat was wired wrong which caused the fuse to blow and thats why it wouldn't turn on. They refused to believe or listen to the tenant that the AC wasn't working before that and they didnt fix it right in the first visit. Its quite possible the fuse was already blown or minimally there was another issue they failed to repair since they didnt bother to check the whole system on the first visit which resulted in having to return. The young fellow who seemed new to the business replaced the fuse and wired the thermostat correctly and it now works. I got a bill for $250. It listed the fuse replacement at $150. A 15amp AC fuse cost $4.00 at Home Depot and they charged a diagnostic fee of $70 when that should have been waived since it wasn't fixed right the first time nor properly inspected on the first visit. When I complained about the price gouging they did lower the total bill by $30.00 which I appreciate but it still left a bad impression how they handled this especially for a returning customer that spent thousands of dollars with them to install the system. read more

They were able to get my system fixed when the other big brands in town didn't. I had a big name company clean our primary drain twice and didnt fix the problem. I also paid $550 for the big name company to clean our coil and they didn't even clean the coil entirely and it caused more problems than before. A Cool Air came by and diagnosed the problem quickly. A Cool Air cleaned the coil and unclogged the primary drain, fixing the system for about half of what the big name company charged. I definitely recommend A Cool Air since they came to fix a problem right the first time and didn't try to sell me a $15k plus A/C system that is working fine. read more

We had an emergency compressor outage (outside unit) mid-week and they were kind enough to squeeze our repair in before the weekends. Absolutely appreciate this company for their integrity and honesty. Was having intermittent issues with my heat. The issue didn't present itself upon inspection. Let's face it, these types of companies can tell you anything, and although you may not like it, you have to go with it, or be cold, (or get a second opinion). They can tell us XYZ is wrong and it's $2k to fix, even if it's not true. My technician was Vasyl. He was very thorough, patient, courteous and honest. He checked and tested everything, replaced the batteries in my thermostat and believed all else was good, relieving me from a big bill. The AC at our house seemed like it was running all the time and barely working. They day of our appointment with A Cool Air, my baby sitter cancelled on me and so I requested that they notify me of their arrival time before hand. They were courteous about the situation and notified me before coming to give me time to make arrangements for my child. Artem, the technician, came out on time and was very professional and courteous. He tested my thermostats because one of them seemed like it was not working. He replaced the battery in it free of charge. He was able to diagnose that the system was leaking Freon and fixed the issue. He was always transparent about cost for the work which I appreciated. I shopped around at 5 different HVAC companies and A Cool Air had the best prices, gave me better equipment and installed zoning which has made things much better. The other companies didn't even offer a solution for dealing with the temperature differences between upstairs and downstairs, while cool air made several suggestions and offered different packages at different price points. Most places only give 2 years of labor warranty, while this company gives 5. You should shop around at different places before you decide, but make sure this is one of the companies you shop at. A Cool Air installed a completely new HVAC system into our home in 2017. We had several estimates, and not only were they the least expensive, but they also gave the longest warranty. The installation went very well, and the crew was very professional and friendly. We were very pleased. We had one small warranty claim a couple of years ago and they promptly took care of it, even topping off the coolant. Last night, out of nowhere, the outside unit fan, just stopped working. With this extreme heat we're dealing with right now, our home got very warm. Today, the Friday before Labor Day weekend, where we are expecting the temperatures to soar over 111 degrees, I was very concerned if I was going to be able to get our A/C fixed. I called A Cool Air this morning and left them a message with my concerns. They called me back in less than an hour and were able to squeeze me in to their already very busy schedule. We recently bought a house with a 42 year old HVAC system and knew it was time to replace it. We contacted several HVAC companies for quotes. The owner Peter came to give an estimate to replace my old HVAC system. I requested he wear PPE since he was needing to evaluate the inside of my home. I was given some initial flak, but insisted and he finally relented. During the visit he stated to me that the pandemic was propaganda and did not believe in it. It's his place to adhere with a customer's request and not argue. I received a good estimate and was going to use his company, but when I asked if his technicians would be wearing PPE while working for a day & a half in my home, he said they would not. I advised him I am a senior with some health issues and if they would not use PPE, I would pass on the bid. I passed and chose another company that had no issues with protecting me and themselves. We cannot state how pleased we were to hire this company to recently install 2 HVAC units at our commercial property. The units were installed quickly and included roof installation and large indoor ducting. These guys are great. They are efficient, responsive and don't get technical when explaining what's wrong. I first used them in 2013 to replace a ducted HVAC system in our new house. I think I've called them back only once for an issue, and that was a "user" error. I've also used them on a few rental properties when things have gone wrong. Their pricing is very reasonable.
