The job took two days and our new Amana 3-ton 17+ SEER Variable Heat Pump system was installed and working beautifully. So Micah came over and presented several options and discussed which ones were SMUD rebate eligible. I went with the bundled (and SMUD rebate eligible) AC + Heat Pump combo. Micah and his son (already an industry veteran and very capable) arrived bright and early (e.g. right on time) and 10 hours later - old units removed, new units installed. The big surprise was *nothing* - e.g. none of the clunks grinds, whooshes, strained sounds of the old system. Just nice cool air evenly distributed throughout my 3/2 bungalow. The old system kept the master suite at temperature, but ran hot summers and cold winters in the kid's rooms at the other end of the house. Remember folks, true power doesn't roar - it whispers. I had no idea who to call for a repair and took a chance with Diamond Solar Solutions after doing a quick online search for recommendations. Brad came out 3 days after my initial call and within a few moments diagnosed my problem. He found that the initial installer had failed to ziptie the connectors and wiring so that they would not sit in a puddle of water after it rained. I was so grateful for Brad's efficient and competent service. He practically ran to get his ladder and get right on the job realizing that time was money. He was thorough, personable, and patient explaining what he had found. Diamond Solar Solutions will be my 1st point of contact for any future solar issues. They were honest and straight forward. My complaint centers primarily around the complete ineptitude in completing the final inspection, which took around 9 months from the actual install. The inspection failed 4 times. Was it because the inspector kept finding new issues? No - it's simply because the issues pointed out by the inspector were not resolved by the time the next inspection happens. The pattern went like this: - Inspector clearly communicates what needs to be fixed - Solar Savings Direct send out a contractor 30 minutes before the next inspection and doesn't resolve the issue (and in some cases was unaware of the scope of work needed to be completed) - Inspector then fails the inspection again. Rinse & repeat I called the city and talked to the inspector myself. Very reasonable guy. Was very clear about what needed to be done and was not asking for anything unreasonable. I eventually had to drag in the CEO of Solar Direct to get the issue resolved. Additionally, all of the INDIVDUALS from Solar Savings Direct were reasonable to work with on a personal level. Support team, techs - all great individually, no complaints. But the core issue is that the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, and the result is that a simple process drags out months and wastes countless hours of your time. The people on the ground are great. The inspection operations/management staff should be fired for incompetence. I have to give Solar Savings Direct / Mars Home Solutions 1 star because a routine inspection should not take 9 months, and all of the failures to pass the inspection were completely self inflicted due to management incompetence.

The errors have ranged from ridiculously basic to downright hazardous; only discovered when I was forced spend thousands of dollars on outside electrical inspections. I have been waiting for reimbursement for 5 months now. Initially, it took four months and 5 visits to get the system off the ground due to a failed inspection, disconnected batteries, upside down sensors, lack of proper grounding . A year after the ridiculous installation problems, I began to experience a vibration throughout my home that would shock my very being throughout the day and night, even through my mattress, directly into my ear. It has cost me sleep, sanity and shattered the peace in my own home. The owner, even after all the missteps and mistakes, kept saying it was my ear. I had to hire two electricians for electrical inspections for a total of 2000 dollars because Solar Savings didn't have the will or the skill to identify the problem. The first electrician found grounding problems. The second found that they had incorrectly wired a gas generator into the solar system, which was back feeding for over a year. This could have very well damaged my system because the vibration continues and the assistance and reimbursement promised is nonexistent despite phone calls and emails and assurances from the company. This system cost me over 32k on a loan and now an additional 2k for the pleasure. I have had to fight my way to getting any assistance after being gaslit, stonewalled or just plain dropped for months at a time. Oh yeah, I was sexually harassed by one of the managers that did the completely messed up installation. Think he was too busy thinking about that instead of grounding rods, batteries and backfeeding. Even after my complaint to the company, they kept suggesting that he be the one to come back and look at my system! Dealing with this company has become a second job and they have treated me, despite the never ending visits, evidence of their incompetence and the money I paid, like a nuisance.
