I recently hired Mike since my AC was not cooling at all upstairs. Him and his team deserve 6 STARS out of FIVE IMO. Here is why: I live in a house that is around 16 years old with the original AC system in place. The AC has been giving me trouble for the last few months and I have had multiple vendors come in to repair it and give recommendations and quotes. Every single one of them said the AC needs to be replaced "sooner or later", with the very next sentence being "I would recommend that you change it out for a new system". But Not Mike. He said we this system has a lot of life left in it, it's just a question of taking good care of it. Not only that, he also explained clearly why that a new system is not "urgently needed" as other vendors wanted to make me believe. The quotes we got for a new system ranged anywhere from $13K to $22K. When I asked Mike, he said that while a new system is absolutely not needed, if I really wanted to change it, his quote was $11.5K. And he reemphasized that a new system is not required, esp if I had plans of moving out of the house/renting or selling it. Secondly, our AC conked out on a hot day. A very very hot day, at a time when there were Norcal fires going on in the area. I called many companies for an appointment. Mike was the ONLY one who showed up for a same day appointment. He actually came in after it was dark - at ~9:30pm and worked till 10:30pm, USING ONLY FLASHLIGHTS!! He said that he was busy because it was peak season, but he still FOUND TIME to fix our problem instead of complaining like many others do, or simply postponing the appointments by days or weeks. What's more, he diagnosed the problem and fixed it within within 1 hour - something I thought would take HOURS, given my past experience with other firms. I mean, which AC guy comes in the middle of summer, AFTER DARK, and get the job done within an hour without any complaining of any sort! This kind of customer orientation is, in my opinion, out of the world and I've never seen any tradesman with this sort of dedication to his craft. To summarize: Based on my experience, Mike and his team 1) Will NEVER up sell you. EVER. You can be sure of this. 2) Show up, rain or shine, day or night (literally). 3) Get the job done. No complaints. No BS. 4) Tell you upfront that if something he tried to fix did not work and make sure he does not charge you for it. 5) Charge a very reasonable fee for his work. No outrageous per hourly rates due to night time work. 6) Give you a proper written invoice for the work done. I would hire Mike Mechanical Heating & Air again in a heartbeat if i needed to, and plan to keep him firmly attached to my personal "wall of fame" list :-) that I personally maintain for tradesmen/handymen in the Sac area. read more

I used Mike Mechanical Heating & Air earlier this year in January of 2017. A friend recommended Mike to me. I have an Apartment Complex in Hayward, CA. I called him because we were selling the building, and I needed to put four New Wall Heaters in all four of my units as soon as possible. I wasn't sure if he would drive all the way down here to Hayward, since his business is in Folsom, CA. He called me back right away, after I left a message and set-up an appointment with me the very next day. I was really surprised. He showed up on time the next day, and gave me a very reasonable price and told me he could start the job the very next day. I was so happy. I am so happy I did, because not only did he do a great job at my Apartment Complex, but he did an excellent job in my home here in Folsom. He was so professional, efficient, quick, and very experienced. He is the only business that I know of that comes out right away, especially when it is 108 degrees outside, and he knows that your Air Conditioning is out.......he will make an effort for sure to get to you that day, even if it is after working hours, so he could fix your unit right away, to get it up and running again. The new system he installed in my home heats up so fast, and cools the house so quick, that I am saving so much on my Gas and Electric Bills.......you would never believe it. Mike Mechanical is a very reliable, ethical, and trustworthy company. With over 15 years of experience, Mike has the skills to fix any heating and air conditioners problem. I hired Mike Mechanical on 4 difference occasions over the last 5 years. The first project Mike worked on was moving my air conditioning unit from the backyard to the side yard in the middle of summer. To minimize downtime, Mike did all the necessary prep work before disconnecting the unit. Mike disconnected, moved and reconnected the air conditioner in the same day. A few years later I had to call Mike Mechanical again to fix my water heater. Mike came out that same day and assessed the problem. Mike took the extra time to show me what the problem was instead of just telling me. Within 3 hours Mike installed a new water heater and took away the old one to be recycled. Most recently, my heating unit wasn't producing heat, so once again I called Mike Mechanical to come out to fix the problem. Mike identified the problem, picked up the parts needed, and had it working within 2 hours. Since Mike has worked for larger heating and air-conditioning companies, he is well versed on what they charge for their services. Mike would rather pass down the savings to his customers and build repeat business than make a few extra dollars in the short term. I have yet to find a company who can beat his prices. Responsive, Respectful, Reliable with great customer service. It's very hard to find companies with all those qualities together and Mike Mechanical and his crew have them all. I recently replaced my old HVAC system since the previous one I had at home was too old. I did the homework and quoted with 4 different companies and system brands, I did it with no pressure (it's a big investment) and informed myself the best possible. From the beginning Mike was super responsive and sent the info I requested by the time he committed to, he wasn't pushy at all and despite he was giving me his time when I asked for information he never pushed for selling. They did a detailed pre-inspection, a competitive quote and also provided me with different budget options. The installation was done in 1 day, and there are 3 major things I liked: Gino and Tim the technicians were pretty qualified, Mike was there himself installing the equipment and supervising the job and he even stopped by a few days later to make sure it was all good. I intentionally waited a month before this post to make sure the equipment runs fine and it does. We are repeat customers of Mike's! After receiving a quote and hard-core sales pitch from one of the bigger HVAC companies in the area, we received Mike's name from a friend who highly recommended Mike. We needed to replace the old unit entirely so it wasn't an inexpensive job. Mike not only came in under the other quote, he had much more knowledge and even suggested we wait on the 2nd unit on the other side of our house. Never did we feel pressure or that we were being up-sold something we didn't need. He came when he said he would and did an outstanding job! He paid close attention to cleaning after he and his peer left and always kept us informed on what the next steps were in the process. We had such a great experience working with him the first time, that when it came time to replace the older, second unit in the house; he was the only company we called. Found this company on Craigslist and decided to give them a call since the ad stated they still had available appointments for the day. Mike put me on hold and came back to say the only available time was 7 pm and the service call would cost $49. I went ahead and told him that was fine which he proceeded to take down my address and information. When 7 pm came, my Husband called Mike to confirm which he stated he was running about 40 minutes late and was on his way. At 8:40 pm, he still hadn't shown. My Husband again called him to see the status and to cancel with him since the sun was coming down. He said he was on his way and will be here in 20 minutes. Upon canceling with him, he told my Husband he never promised me a time and that it would be our choice to cancel. Is it normal for a HVAC repair person to come after dark? The whole ordeal seemed very suspicious to us, especially since we found him on Craigslist. Needless to say, we wasted a whole day on this guy and an opportunity to work with an other company who would have shown on time to fix our AC. read more

Mike and his team just finished replacing my HVAC system and entire ducting. He was recommended by a friend who is very picky when it comes to recommending anyone. Well Mike exceeded my expectations. He was always on time and answered all questions or concerns I had whether it was an email, text or phone call. The job was done right, no short cuts. I do a lot of my own work on my house because I'm very detail oriented. Mikes attention to detail was exceptional. I even requested that my new packaged system on my roof be situated lower than the previous system for aesthetics purposes. Even though the job would be more work and require coordination with a roofer, he accommodated. I don't normally trust many contractors, but I trusted him such that he worked in/on my house with no one home. His crew left the house cleaner than when they started, even wiping down any hand prints they may have left in my closet under the attic access point! Just first class from start to finish. Last week during one of the hottest days, I lost the Compresser on my Air Conditioner. With a 9 week old puppy in our home, I had to get help fast. The air coditioning gods, must have been looking down on me. I checked yelp...I called Mike. We talked on the phone about my options. I was impressed with his suggestions. I wanted just to replace the bad Compresser. We ended up replacing the outside Condenser/Compresser 5 ton unit. I had called everyone in town and no one, wanted to replace just that part of the system. The whole deal or no deal BS. This way of thinking is ok, if you want to do a complete system anywhere from 8K to 20K. Mike was at my Home with a New "USA Built" Condenser/Compresser Unit, with in about an hour. By early afternoon we had a cool house. Mike went the extra mile and checked out the entire system encluding replacing piston for evaporator coil and cleaned the filthy evaporator unit. Didn't show up and never called! I made an appointment for an AC repair at my house and they said they would be there between 2:00-4:00. I have a 5 month old at home and had to change my work schedule to be able to be home for the appointment. I was sitting and waiting in a 85 degree house. By 4:30 when no one had shown up I tried calling to confirm someone was still coming. Their website says they're open until 7:00pm, but no one answered their phones and I left a message. I tried calling a different number listed on their website, and still no answer. I tried calling again a lil after 5:00 with no answer again. I called for the last time at 6:00 and left another message voicing my frustration and cancelled my business with them. Even the cable companies have the decency and courtesy to call when they are either running late or can't make an appointment! I waited until the next day to write this review to give them the opportunity to at least call to apologize. Of course, I'm still waiting for that too! read more

I am a business owner and greatly respect and appreciate organizations that respond quickly and provide a high level of customer service. Mike Mechanical was super responsive and was able to meet me for a last minute (and urgent) situation. He and his assistant (son) arrived right on time and got to work! I asked for a through inspection and diagnosis of our HVAC system. They were up on the roof, then climbed in our ceiling and really took their time. The opening up our unit and inspected several areas of our unit. They took pictures and provided an amazing detailed and through report. They did not rush, provided me w/ details after the inspection AND answered a ton of our questions w/ patience and professionalism. Mike is the real deal, I highly recommend him! He and his son arrived at my house on time. They were prompt, courteous, and professional -- basically everything that I read in the other reviews. They called 30 minutes before arriving to let me know they were on their way from the previous job, which I really appreciated. I had a tune-up done on my AC just to make sure it was ready for the summer. They cleaned the condenser coil, checked the condenser capacitor, the electrical amps and voltage, and the refrigerant, R-22. Then they ran the unit for 10 minutes to make sure it got COLD, and it did! He also went around to the vents and checked them with a laser device (cool!) Basically they were in and out in 45 minutes, and I felt they were very thorough. Yay! We're ready for the summer!!! My AC unit stopped producing cool air late Friday night and with the pending heat wave coming up this weekend it was imperative I had someone come out and fix the AC right away. Not only did they call back quickly they were incredibly courteous the entire time. I dealt with Gino who could not have been nicer. Once he arrived he walked me through what he was going to do, diagnosed the problem quickly and explained how much the repairs would cost as well as his recommendations, and then completed the service in a very timely manner. I rarely write reviews for companies but when you come across service this good I think it is important to let everyone know about it. Good, friendly service done by people you can trust is priceless. Our A/C stopped blowing cold air and the fan blades on the unit weren't moving. I called to schedule an appointment and got one for the following morning. I received a call 2 hours before the appointment, letting me know they could arrive sooner than the scheduled time. Awesome! After the diagnosis of bad capacitor and dirty coils, I approved the 2 services. After the replacements, i was shown on their equipment that there may be a leak which would reduce the Freon/Refrigerant. Not sure of the cost; would need to determine that actual amount of Freon needed. I decided to wait on this service to see if the house would cool once it got hot outside (this morning was cool and weather wasn't supposed to get too hot until tomorrow on). So far, the 2 reps that arrived and serviced the unit were very friendly and informative. read more

Called Mike at 7:15 am and he answered the call. 102 degrees here in EDH yesterday and the air just quit. Mike said they could be out between 12 and 1 but thankfully they where earlier. :) I have used Mike and his son before for annual check up and they where great never trying to sell me a bunch of extras, just did the job and explained to me what they did and brought me up to speed on the condition of my unit.(forgot to call this year). Mike's son performed the repairs this year, one of the nicest young men I have met. He knew the problem in 5 min. had the part and I was up and running is 20 min. Mike was referred to me by a fellow in the trades. Mike was prompt, courteous, explained everything very thoroughly and HONESTLY! He even came out to our house TWICE to discuss the job. He and is team replaced the ENTIRE HVAC system and put in instillation in the attic. A very reasonable price for all the equipment and labor. He said it would be a few days even worked on a Sat so we could have heat. He worked tirelessly to make sure all everything was done in a timely and professional manner. Hi, Mike and his son came to my rescue when I needed someone urgently to fix my broken AC. When I spoke with Mike early in morning he told me the best he could do to help me was to come on the afternoon due to other commentments. I told Mike that I had a very sick elderly Mom and to come as soon as he could. Less than 3 hours after I spoke with Mike he showed up at my door ready to fix my AC. During a week of record high temperatures, and at 6:30 pm, our 4-year old AC unit went out. The 1st business I called had a message saying appointments were two-weeks out. I called Mike and he answered even though it was after hours. He had other work to do but said he would try to stop by understanding that it was 101 degrees out and would be forecast for 110 the next day. Within an hour and a half Mike showed up, troubleshot the problem and replaced a part bringing the AC back to normal. He charged less than I was imagining and was a pleasure to deal with.
