YESSS!! This is THE place for Vietnamese food! They are indeed authentic!…read more I have been missing the smell and taste of staple Vietnamese dishes ever since I moved out of California a few months ago. I used to receive Mom's vietnamese home cooking frequently and I lived near the Asian hubbubs with easy access to all the cuisine, but now I have to discover new places here in Washington to satiate my taste buds. Everything I've tried so far has been good. I've been content. But here!! I ordered takeout through Doordash, and as soon as I picked up my food, an aroma of so many flavors filled up my car. Parking is kinda annoying since it's on the street but I arrived within 30 mins of opening hours so it wasn't terrible yet. The restaurant already had at least a table or so, with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if it got busier later. There's a fair amount of space and tables for hungry stomachs! The food was about ready by the time I arrived, and the 30 min drive home left me feeling famished and ready to dig in. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Everything was packaged well so that nothing spilled during the car ride, and everything was so yummy! I ordered more than I originally intended... I was craving com tam (broken rice) and couldn't find a satisfactory place near my residence, so I drove all the way here to Tacoma.. and then I figured, I might as well order their Banh Xeo too! The photos online made it look so good, and it ended up tasting amazing! Slightly crispy and stuffed just enough with bean sprouts, meat, and other goodies. Perfect after drizzling some of the sauce over it. The Com Tam was also made well, and definitely hit my cravings with its classic ingredients. I ordered a Large Pho Bo Vien (meatball) for my son, and was sooo tempted to eat some myself. The broth smelled fresh and the noodles were cooked nicely. Decent portions for everything, too. I definitely need to return to try out more of their food. So far, it has made me one happy Viet gal :)

I mean, there are cheaper places in the area, but the selection and and presentation are worth it. Service: No complaints, came right away and didn't bother me much. Perfect! Overall: Making a review so I can remember this place when I come back to Tacoma. New favorite Pho place. Please keep it up!

I went here on an early morning right at opening time, I wanted to take some hot pho and spring rolls to scarf them down at home. Well, I stepped inside 10 minutes after opening and the older gentleman immediately gave me a look that my business wasnt wanted. I was the first customer that day clearly, and I felt like I shouldn't have gone in so early? Since I made a drive, I asked for a menu for to-go order and he proceeded to give me menu and go about cleaning the floor. The whole restaurant had the smell of cleaning products plus some old food stench. I asked for pho and tofu spring roll to-go and he asked me if thats it. I said yes and he said ok come back in 10-15 min so I actually had to leave restaurant (I cant remember if I decided to walk back to my car or walk across the street to Hong Kong Market to browse little bit or both because I got a bit anxious by the service I received). Food was mediocre at best. Broth was a bit salty for me, noodle was not soft, Spring Roll was fine. I will not return to this business again solely from the experience I had. I know that this place is much loved, long standing local restaurant with lots of support and I know I cant judge a place from just one visit, but once was enough for me.

I could not hear my family over a 4 person table, coz it doubles as a bar upstairs. But its clean, and decorated well. There's just enough seating for people to come have food. BTW, parking is shared w a market, there was barely any parking when I got there. The parking is also a little narrow, especially when people dont park correctly. Service: very good. They were quick and friendly. No complaints. Food: love the food here. I had the quail fried rice thay came with salad and a side of the pho broth. Broth is flavorful, so Im sure the pho is good. The quail was also marinated nicely, with a tomato based fried rice which was not oily, and just the right amount of flavor. We also ordered two orders of spring rolls, which was more than we thought! One order is the one plate of 2 spring rolls cut in half - so four pieces. Pleasant surprise i suppose, more spring rolls!

Perfect spot for Vietnamese street food and late-night cravings, but a nightmare of a parking lot…read more My family was visiting from California last month, and naturally we needed to find somewhere to feed our party of 6 after our Seattle tourist trip. We arrived around 9 PM on a Thursday; I picked this restaurant because we were all craving Vietnamese food, and thankfully La Cà Bar is open late enough that we were still able to spend time eating together over a yummy meal. We sat downstairs since we were there primarily for the food and wanted to actually sit down and eat together. It was pretty empty when we arrived aside from one table, and we were able to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. They close at midnight, so arriving around 9 PM still gave us plenty of time to order, eat, and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. And then we proceeded to order an unreasonable amount of food. Everything we tried was delicious. The spring rolls were definitely superb (especially when dipped in the sauce), and I highly recommend getting a few for the table because apparently my family and I devoured them ASAP while waiting for our main course. I had to get the Bánh Xèo, because I have absolutely no self-control when I see it on a menu. The crepe was savory, filling, and delicious. Since it was cold that night, I also ordered Bún Bò Huế, because apparently being cold means I need to consume an entire bowl of spicy soup. I personally missed the classic cubes of pork blood that I usually expect in Bún Bò Huế, but it was still flavorful and satisfying without them. I also noticed the food here leans more toward Northern Vietnamese-style cuisine, but everything we had was still really tasty. I somehow managed to finish most of my food despite ordering enough to feed a second family. My family enjoyed their meals too. My son got a bánh mì without the garnish and was impressed by how huge and satisfying it was. Teenagers can be difficult to impress, so when the teenager says the bánh mì is huge and good, I listen. Our server was also really nice and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Now, parking... Oh, sweet Jesus. The parking lot is TIGHT. The surrounding streets aren't particularly spacious either. If you have an SUV like myself, or anything larger, prepare yourself. I was genuinely relieved when I got back into my car and discovered that my vehicle had survived the evening without acquiring any new battle scars. But honestly? Worth it. The best part for me was how nostalgic the food felt. Vietnam is the country where I was born, so getting to sit down with my family and eat Vietnamese street food that reminded me of home was really special. We live far from where I grew up, so finding food that brings back even a little bit of that familiarity means a lot. And after moving away, I really appreciate those little moments where a meal can transport you somewhere for a couple of hours. So yes, 5 stars. Great late-night option, delicious food, friendly service, generous portions, and a menu that scratched the Vietnamese food itch perfectly.

Well that day has come. We ended up staying at a hotel nearby for a friend's wedding. We were getting hungry and I luckily checked Yelp and saw that I bookmarked this place when it showed up on my nearby food list. What a crazy coincidence. So we drive over and park on a side street. There was a small line outside and we waited patiently for a few minutes. Once inside, we were seated at the counter and it was packed, a little hot and everything smelled delicious. My friend and I both ordered the duck and pork noodle soup and it was maybe the best noodle soup I've ever had. The pork had crispy skin, the duck was soft and flavorful. It was all just so delicious. The iced coffee was strong and sweet. We also got the dessert. Make sure to add durian if they ask. It made it 1000x better if that's even possible. Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. I'd definitely be back if I'm ever in Tacoma again.

The dining area is quite small, so I usually order to go. The food itself is good. The barbecue duck is flavorful and reasonably priced around 35 dollars for a whole duck, and the roast pork at around 16 dollars per pound is also a good value. I really like their broken rice, and the pickled jalapeños with sauce makes the meal feel complete. However, the dining experience has some challenges. The space can get crowded, ventilation isn't great, and seating by the door can be uncomfortable. Service also feels stretched at times, since the same person may be cooking, handling chairs and serving. I'd give it four stars. The food is worth trying, but improvements in seating, airflow, and service would make it a better overall experience.

Service is quick and the workers are friendly. Their bánh mì đặc biệt (deluxe sandwich) and the cà phê sửa đá (iced condensed milk coffee) are my typical go-tos. The sandwich has layers of meat and portioned appropriately. The pâté adds a rich umami flavor and the Vietnamese bơ (mayo) gives it a buttery flavor. The veggies are always healthy and seem fresh. Also their jalapeños actually have a kick unlike most places I've been to. I recommend this staple to anyone looking for a solid Vietnamese sandwich in Tacoma. Great place to chill and have coffee to start your day. They have other foods like noodle soups, stews, and a rice plate. The pho came out just right, and they have a large variety on their menu, from Bánh mì to pho to rice and noodle dishes plus boba teas, smoothies, and half a page of desserts. Rose, the owner, personally greeted us and answered any questions we had. The other servers were just as helpful and friendly, everyone here was so lovely.
