Our weekly go-to place. Very clean, not like the regular old pho places in Sunnyvale; this one we can actually bring our parents/ grandparents. Very tasty and fresh food also! My fav item is the #27 Pork Vermicelli - perfectly grilled and flavored pork (not too burnt), with crunchy bean sprouts and peanuts and cilantro, and pickled carrots and daikon. My husband always gets the Make Your Own Pho with rare steak, flank, and tendon, but they always miss one of those ingredients. Great pho, it would be my go-to but every single time I ask (and beg them to charge me) for extra basil, this is what I essentially get(see pic). At this point it's laughable. I keep thinking, well, THIS time they'll get it right.., but never happens. I usually open the bag in front of them and ask them if this is what they call extra basil. I tried the banh mi and the rare steak pho. The pho was definitely the shining winner in terms of flavor. The broth was rich and flavorful, the steak tender, and the veggies fresh and crisp. The banh mi was fine, but nothing to write home about. The thai iced tea I ordered was pretty damn tasty too. -one star for silly Spanish guitar music and sort of dull environment. I've been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened in Willow Glen late last year, but for some reason, it just wasn't on my radar until I tried a grilled pork sandwich at a Vietnamese restaurant in San Leandro last weekend. It was so delicious that I decided I needed to find a place close to home where I could embibe to my heart's content, and I have found it! Pho Wagon is a delight! By no means would I consider myself an expert in Vietnamese food, but when my 17 year old daughter practically inhales the vegetarian Pho, I know that's a good sign! And THEIR grilled pork sandwich was to die for! The pork was very flavorful and tender. Mary, the owner, stopped by our table and during the conversation she mentioned that she marinates the meat and before each sandwich is made, the pork is cooked, fresh....it doesn't sit around, ready for the next sandwich. This is quite impressive and I'm sure, lends itself to the freshness of the sandwich. The bread was crunchy and the sandwich packed with an abundance of meat, jalapenos, cilantro, and other delicious goodness. And for $7.50 my meal included the sandwich, chips and choice of beverage. I chose the Thai Tea and it was yummy! The restaurant itself is pleasant, inviting and as others have pointed out, very clean. If the restaurant is going to do well in this neighborhood, all of these factors must be maintained. I hope that they continue to provide a really great little spot for fresh, wholesome and delicious food. My daughter and I will be back...often! read more

Well, this is definitely the best dressed pho restaurant I've been to so far. :) The interior is nicely furnished, and it's spacious for this type of venue. My friend and I both ordered the **Chicken Rice Noodle Soup**. We both agreed that the broth wasn't as flavorful as other pho restaurants we've been to. This was fixed though by loading up our soup with tons of sriracha sauce! :) Service was speedy and friendly. This restaurant is close to my friend's house, and from what I've heard, is the only one nearby. So, we might end up coming again, because of convenience. The food is by no means horrendous, but if I was craving pho, this location would definitely not come to mind as a first choice. They are pretty new, so after some feedback some tasty changes might be made. read more

Just like the other location, this is a fantastic Pho place. Very clean, great service, and I think they still do Tuesday free Tapioca Tea. I have no idea why anyone would give this just a 4 star review - this is as good as a Pho place can get. Trust me, I have traveled extensively trying Pho places all over the U.S. and this is in the top 3. #2 would be their other location in Cupertino and #1 is the place in Milpitas, Truong Than. Good, clean, fresh Vietnamese food. I'm so jealous of the Vietnamese options in San Jose. Not enough to live there of course, but the selection of restaurants is mind blowing. I order the Bun Chay. It came in a square ceramic bowl. Interesting touch. They served it with fish sauce which should be a no-no for a vegetarian dish. I told them I wanted to have a veggie fish sauce and they said they only had soy or peanut. I said that wasn't acceptable for a bun dish and told them to just make some - it's just rice vinegar, sugar, chili...the usual stuff they have back there. A few minutes later I get a great little bowl of veggie friendly "fish" sauce. So big points for making that for me. Got the extra pickled veggies and a side of tofu for only and extra $1.50 each. Big portions. Thai iced tea was not too sweet, plenty strong, and came in a big glass with almost no ice. Killer. I hate getting shorted with an overload of ice in a skinny glass. My daughter got the kid plate with rice and grilled chicken. She loved it. Only six bucks. The bun and pho is on the pricey side, but the place is also classier and cleaner than most and that includes the environment as well as the food. So I will definitely eat here again. read more

First time trying this place out. Little more on the spendy side than your typical Pho places and the portion is quite a bit less than other places. Ordered the #15, broth was OK, lacking a little something, but that just made me have to add more into it to get it the way i like. Would of prefered little more broth, seemed a little "dry", probably due to the small bowl serving. The Won Tons were good and noodles were tasty. Overall appearance of the place is very clean, maybe way above other Pho places, so I guess that's where the price hike in the food comes in. Wait staff is friendly and quick on service. Not sure I would go back, as its more for less and it just didn't quite hit the mark with me, but wouldn't complain if I did. read more

Tried out Pho Wagon on Sunday before heading to see the Nutcracker in downtown SJ. First of all, love that this is so close to my house-although that may not be an attractive point for the rest of you. For those of you who are not my neighbors, here is why you should hop on the Pho Wagon- The broth, which we all know is what makes Pho so phodelicious, is amazing. So rich, not too greasy, everything you are looking for in a pho broth. I ordered the #7-rare beef pho- and ate the entire bowl. Also tried the spring rolls, which were very tasty as well. Dipping sauce for the rolls was excellent to boot. I would have prefered my pho to come in a larger bowl (I did order the small, but it was filled to the brim) in order to reduce spash-age, but otherwise-no complaints. This is my new favorite, Pho place! The Fresh Spring Rolls, are fresh, tasty and not too many noodles. Add some rooster sauce to the peanut sauce and your set. The beef pho was great. We chose this place for a takeout meal over the holidays because it has vegetarian options for me. All agreed it was a great meal. Before planning to meet a friend there for dinner, I read several yelp reviews and was concerned about what kind of service to expect. It turns out I had nothing to worry about! We felt like pampered princesses on this week night visit. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Tran took our order and was extremely helpful, courteous and attentive. Food was quickly delivered and did not disappoint. Quite the contrary! My vegetarian Pho was chock full of veggies and tofu. As recommended, we each ordered a small Pho. I couldn't finish mine and brought home a small container for tomorrow! We splurged on Pink Che (?) for dessert, which was fun to eat. I'd like to try their fresh pressed Vietnamese coffee, but will save that for another time when it is much earlier in the day. Mary, (the owner??), came over to see how everything was and we ended up having a delightful conversation with her. Mary also gave my friend helpful suggestions & recommendations for ordering takeout Pho [only comes in the large portion] as well as how we would best enjoy our dessert: eat it with the spoon, add more shaved ice as needed to keep it cold, use the straw sparingly. [I had asked for straws] Getting there early is a plus for seating. Clean, comfortable, nicely appointed with simple, basic table and settings, it offers ample parking in a well-lit area busy area. South of Hamilton, it's close to the Meridian Post office. Being engaged in an interesting conversation with Mary was an unexpected bonus. Closest place for pho for me. For the price of things there it's okay on the higher side of things. This is a pho place more catered to non-asian or Vietnamese folks. Broth and everything is good but the pho bat biet is not as complex as other pho places. Fried spring rolls is okay not the greatest but above average. I'm so sad. Me and my husband have come to this place for about 3 years now & last night we decided to go after not being there for months. Quality has gone down so much ! The pho didn't have much flavor and my husbands sandwich was plain. On top of that they took a lot of items off the menu and didn't have too many choices for vegetarians. It wasn't too busy when we went but The staff took 15 - 20 minutes to take are order and when we finally ask for them to take are order the waitress seemed annoyed. My bf recently discovered this place waiting for me to get off work.. it's the closest pho place to my house, and being Viet, he has to have his fix at least once a week.. don't ask me why, I don't understand it! It's a brand new place, I think they've only been open for 5 months.. but they have a good amount of business already and the service is great. The servers are all very attentive and polite also. I also loved the big windows that let in a lot of the natural sunlight... the bathrooms are really pretty too! The shrimp and pork spring rolls are delicious here. I especially enjoyed the ingredients because you can tell that they're very fresh. The pho is pretty good here, not the world's best broth, but tasty enough. The only downside is the cut of beef they used for their flank steak.. the steak should have a more red and grainy marble to it... I wasn't accustomed to the smooth grain and pink flat color. Although the color and grain were off, it didn't taste bad or spoiled, so it was ok. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I bet we'll be back. read more

Willow Glen adjacent, rejoice, a worthy pho house has arrived. Pho Wagon took over a space that was once a Burger King and totally remodeled the space to a beautiful, clean house of Vietnamese food. I had the wonton pho and it was pretty darn tasty, and thankfully they didn't skimp on the wontons, either! Prices are We tried them out a few weeks after they had opened that location, and the menu does seem to not be the same as the one in Sunnyvale. I hope that they will expand their menu to include the bahn xeo because if they did, I may be back more regularly. Prices are a little bit higher than what I am used to paying, but for pure convenience it is worth the price to me. read more

This is our new favorite pho place. The place is pretty busy when we went on a Thursday night. There was a short wait list. I heard from someone who was waiting that the restaurant bought the next door unit and planning to expand, which is awesome! We ordered the Won Ton BBQ pork noodle soup and the veggie pho, with spring rolls as appetizers of course :) Food came out a bit later than normal pho place standard (came out maybe 10 minutes rather than 2 minutes after ordering). Portions were pretty decent for the price, very clean. Definitely would go back again and again :) read more

This is a very good Pho place. I highly recommend it. Especially to peeps who have never had Pho before. It's clean, new and the food is good. Only three stars because it doesn't have MY FAVORITE Pho combo: Pho Tai Nam Gau. :( But that's me. It's also a bit pricier than most Pho, but then again, it's VERY clean and NEW and they take Credit Cards, so for that, it's worth the higher price. I don't suppose I would go back because it doesn't have my favorite combo...but I would if I have friends that want to try Pho and have never had it. read more

Excellent option for pho in the Willow Glen area. Got the special pho, loaded with tendon, tripe, brisket and raw beef. Impressed with the meat-to-noodle ratio. Noodles were cooked perfectly, slightly chewy. Broth had beefy flavor but also a prominent note of spice, notably star anise. Table was loaded with freshly filled versions of the usual condiments. In all, a very satisfying bowl of Vietnamese comfort food. Service was fast and efficient, and the place is more upscale than your usual pho joint (this is Willow Glen, after all). My mother and me were having a rough time for some reason, guess it just wasn't our day to go out for lunch, but we were determined and finally got to this place. I had eaten there last summer, about six months ago and I had a great experience, tasty refreshing drink (It was very good actually) and meal so thankfully I thought great, finally some lunch. First of all, the place could afford a cleaning and proper way of putting away utensils instead of on a side counter by probably an older family member who grabbed them with his bare hands out of a white dish bucket and put them directly on the counter. Unsightly. The food was horrible. I've never experienced Vietnamese food like this. No flavor at all. I was shocked and the service was not good. Mom's dish came out well before mine. The dishes didn't present well either. Never did the server check on us probably because they knew they were serving crappy food. I almost felt like they were treating us this way purposefully. I ordered another dish that I didn't think could go wrong, but again, blah. I'm never going there again. Not satisfying. read more

Decor: the best I've ever seen in a pho restaurant-- especially in the south bay. Really nice tables and chairs and very clean. Service: Fast and pleasant enough. The server seemed pretty inexperienced and it took him a lot of brain power to get our bowls of Pho on the table and to the right person. I'll assume he's new to the service industry... Pho: I'm yet to have bad Pho anywhere, but this place is lacking a bit in flavor. The Pho tastes good, but as others have mentioned, something is different and a little flat. Pho was hot though and noodles were great. The Rare steak was a little firmer than other places. Vegetables were fresh- some sauces on the table to jazz it up... Unlike the other reviews on here I like that they are modern and "fancy" I hated going into those old, grimy, DIRTY Pho places, it was disgusting!! So this is nice that they have this "fancier" Pho place. I first went to their Cupertino location (who gets 5 stars by the way, there service is really good) So i got really excited when they opened up the San Jose location near my house. Pho is really tasty and fresh and the ambiance is nice, but they just lack in customer service (slow service and not friendly....I mean not a hello, hi or even a welcome and no smile) They are the only good Pho place around and its super close to our house, so that's why we keep coming back. Pho Wagon - The #6 - Vietnamese Near Me - San Jose, California

The first time I found Pho Wagon they were randomly closed. I tried again on a Sunday evening and was VERY happy. I am not a very adventurous Pho eater (I usually stick with just rare steak) but this place has the BEST broth I've come across thus far. That first experience was awesome. The restaurant was quiet and the service was good. NOW, however, everyone and their neighbors know about this place and EVERY SINGLE time I go in it's jam packed and the service is terrible. I'm talking four or five staff members up at the register just chatting away while I sit for over 20 mins waiting to order. Also, they SAY they close at 3pm but I've been there at 1pm for lunch and they already had the OPEN sign turned off and the shades drawn. I overheard them tell a guest who came in at 2pm that they were closing so they rushed him through his lunch. I DO like their Fresh Spring Rolls and the Rare Steak Pho is still the best I've found in the South Bay but I wish it was still my undiscovered little gem and not such a hot spot. read more

Located in the strip mall across from the post office on Meridian near Hamilton. I've been here twice and both times they have served good Pho. I have ordered the chicken pho with white meat and the beef pho. The interior is nice and clean. Much cleaner than the place in Almaden Plaza.
