Last summer we discover Pho Wagon and were happy to see a pho restaurant open close to our neighborhood. Our initial visits were pretty good with consistently attentive service and good food on every visit. However over time they've become popular with more patrons dining during peak times and that's when we started noticing their service slipping -- forgotten drink orders, no acknowledgement when arriving, no utensils or menus when seated, etc. Other times when we've come during off-peak or a slow evening, the service seems to be what we initially experienced -- pretty good. Is the staff not up to speed when it gets busy? Unlike their food which we still enjoy, our once 4-star pho spot is now a 2.5 until we see some consistency in their customer service. Although we still recommend this location, there are no promises on what the service will be during your visit. read more

Normally I am skeptical of nice looking pho restaurants. Sounds crazy, but we all know those hole in the wall, located in the ghetto ones have AMAZING food. Pho Wagon was such a pleasant surprise for me! It's clean, in a nice area, and serves delicious food! This place can get pretty busy at night, especially weekends, but the wait isn't that bad, even though it may look it. People can usually get in and out fast. Always great service when we go. The waiters are prompt in taking your order and are friendly. I've been to a few Vietnamese restaurants where if you don't know what you want within a minute of sitting down, they don't come back to you for a hot minute. This place doesn't do that. I usually order pho bo vien and I like to judge places based on how their bo vien tastes. Pho Wagon doesn't disappoint! It's perfectly cooked and the broth is delicious! My partner and I were looking for a quick, relatively healthy meal for lunch and were glad we stepped into Pho Wagon. It was exactly what we wanted - clean, fatty-broth soup with quality meats and vegetables. I had the dumplings pho with egg noodles. My partner has the barbecued pork. Everything was fantastic. Worst "dining" experience I've ever had, ordered 2 bowls of pho, waited 20 minutes without getting our food, when I notified the hostess, she tells the kitchen, couple minutes later they cuss each other out in Vietnamese in front of all the customers. I thought it to was done, but the argument between the kitchen and the hostess escalated and it got even louder, at which point I decided to leave the restaurant. If you're looking a place to eat pho in sunnyvale I suggest you go to house of pho Broth was pretty bland it didn't have the traditional pho broth I was hoping for. Vermicelli noodles were horrible. I have gone to dozens of pho restaurants over the years and Pho Wagon has been the only to be consistent and always making me leave with a content stomach! And luckily it's only a few miles from my house so it's super convenient. Close to my home and the tastiest eggrolls in the area. Pho Wagon is located off of Meridian and Hamilton Ave, right by the Post office They are tucked in the corner of a small strip mall. The Pho is wonderful and I come here often to satisfy my Pho cravings. One of the things I like is their grilled meats over bun (vermicelli). The shrimp are marinated in a sweet sauce and other meats are either lemongrass inspired or five spice. The overall experience is quite positive, clean and the service is attentive. read more

Fast, friendly service, and good food! I had the pho with rare steak, flank, and brisket and the hubby had the vermicelli bowl with pork, prawn and egg rolls. The broth was flavorful and didn't need too much sauce. I was really happy that the jalapeños were spicy. Usually the jalapeños at other restaurants are mild or medium. I ordered the large bowl, it's only $1 more, I shared it with my daughter who enjoyed it as well. What gave them the extra star was how CLEAN the bathroom was. I'm having trouble deciding between 3 and 4 stars. I like to get the rare steak and tendon pho here, with the steak on the side so I can control the cooking of it (I don't like it overcooked). It's not the best pho, but it's pretty decent. The noodles are not overcooked. The broth could have had more flavor. They also don't give you much rare steak - it was OK for me since I don't eat that much meat, but compared to other places it's not much so if you like meat, you might not get enough here. The place is clean and in a convenient location, so I'll definitely be coming back here. It's the best pho place I've found in that general area so far! read more

Ever since Pho Lynn changed owners we've been in search of a new go-to Pho restaurant...and we've found it! The atmosphere is great, service is very fast, and the staff is friendly. This is the best phó spot (hence why it is always crowded)! Great service, your order is taken almost immediately, your water is always full, and your food comes out quickly! My physical therapist 800 yards up the street,( SCORE CLINIC*,I reviewed previously.....) told me a new place was moving in to where Burger King was! Chiropractor Said; "the guy looks like he is making a nice Pho place there".....Being as I spend 89.333% of my disposable income on my stomach and lived in Thailand for years I thought...."here I come!". Drove by,picked up a to go menu,hit my wife's office 2 miles away,carried all 117 pounds of my child bride into my car,(actually,her car as she owns it being as I spend all my money on food!), and off like Fred Flintstones feet under his car we went to Pho Wagon for lunch! I was pleasantly surprised.The decor including the Catholic paintings was cool! The vegetarian soup was fresh and tasty. Of course,after I brought my wife back to her cubicle I landed over at Pho Dynasty on Bascom for their chicken wings otherwise OFF my diet in front of the little Mrs. Ok,Pho Wagon is a great place! Slightly pricey but very nice inside. My wife's seafood/rice dish was fresh and she enjoyed it.....next time I will try the Vietnamese coffee to compare it to other places around the bay but if you live in Willow Glen or Campbell,this place is probably the best Vietnamese food in the area. read more

We love going here. My wife gets one of the soups and I love getting any of their grilled meats. Last night I tried their wonton soup and it was AMAZING. I'm a big fan of the Ramen place in Mitsuwa (Santouka) and this soup is now my favorite. I'm a fan of the food. Service has dropped off and as a single diner the attention is limited. FYI, check your credit card bill. After a visit my credit card bill showed I was billed twice for the same meal. I had to call the business and fortunately they did correct it. Then after a recent visit I was informed by my bank that my credit card had been compromised. I don't have proof that it was Pho but they were the most recent place I visited where my card was out of my possession. read more

This is a pretty good Pho place for the area it's in. Good service, easy parking, and they speak ENGLISH! I do suggest they add more to their portion. It is a bit pricier than what you get on the East Side, but you are paying for the area and location. Only if they added more to their portions! I had their shrimp vermicelli and chicken/shrimp w/ rice. Both are delicious. I would recommend ordering the banana cake for dessert. The smoothies here are not like the ones at Tapicoa, Sweatea, etc., it's more like a milk shake type. Ehhh, it's ok. This restaurant is, by far, the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant in the area. In addition to the cleanliness, their beef broth is really good too. Let me start off by saying that this is not your typical hole-in-the-wall pho place. Every time I crave pho, I have to think twice because while I may be enjoying my food, the ambiance is usually not so great. It is clean, has great decor, located in a great neighborhood, and to be honest, quite relaxing. Yes, you can come here on a date. I have yet to try their pho but was very impressed with the vegetarian vermicelli dish. Yes, this place actually has vegetarian options! What a surprise! The vegetarian eggrolls that came with my noodles were sooooo good! They weren't your typical "rushed" eggroll with the usual fillings that are deep fried and served. The filling of these ones were actually really flavorful. I very much enjoyed my dinner here and look forward to coming back. Service isn't too bad, either! As many reviewers have said, Pho Wagon is a nice place to eat. Meaning, the decor and ambience is upper end for a Pho restaurant... However, my experience has been that dirtier, hole-in-the-wall pho places have better food. The staff here were friendly and fairly efficient, but the pho, which is what I came for, was marginal at best, unfortunately. I've eaten ALOT of fantastic bowls of pho, and I'd describe this version as "white people" pho... Not alot of flavor, very salty, and more expensive than most, $7.50 for a small bowl. This place is the real deal -- excellent Pho (and other dishes) in a space nicer than average, with terrific wait staff. Definitely on part with the East San Jose pho places, and right here in Willow Glen. Had the steak & brisket pho: nice tender meat, excellent broth, and well cooked noodles. Garnish plate was more than enough: 5 or 6 jalapeno slices, loads of sprouts and basil, and two nice juicy lime wedges. Family had the chicken fried rice (humongous portion -- enough for a family of 4); egg roll vermicelli; and veggie pho. The veggie pho was loaded with tofu, bok choy, and carrots. (Carrots were a little meh.) Viet iced coffee didn't disappoint, although like most places, it's always a little too sweet compared to the great stuff in Vietnam. Hmm.. Idk why this place has 4 stars. Everything I had was mediocre. Banh mi was extremely over priced $9.50 for a sandwich combo. The pork inside the banh mi was flavorful but some pieces were too dry and bland. The pickles inside were good and the bread was nice and crusty. I was disappointed that they didnt put pate and used what tasted like best foods mayo from a jar. Thai iced tea was watery and the spring rolls didnt seem fresh. Their pho broth was good but wasnt amazing either. I really had high hopes for this place and I really tried to like it but the flavors were just too bland. The place was very clean though! 3 stars for that.I dont mind paying alot for good food but this place was just so bland. For the quality im getting it just seems over priced. Best pho place I've been to in San Jose! They are very accommodating, polite, and every time I come here, I never get disappointed. Fast service too! Their pho is phenomenal, very flavorful with the right amount of meat. Pretty solid pho restaurant. Very clean, fast and friendly service. Plenty of parking around the restaurant, in a very safe area. Flavor of the pho broth is pretty on point. They know what they are doing there. The only problem I have with the place is that the portions are a little small for the price. My bowl of pho needed a little more meat and less broth. The goi cun was $4.25 for 2 smaller rolls. So yea...solid place, can't imagine anyone disliking this place if they like pho. read more

I used to come to this location all the time as a kid when it was a Burger King. Now it is a nicely decorated pho place, and I don't think I was emotionally ready for that. First thing I noted was that the pho noodles were slightly overpriced, in my opinion, for the same craving-satisfying yummy dish that is the vietnamese noodle soup. I wanted the seafood noodle, but they only served it in the large size (why you do this to me, Pho Wagon?), so I settled for a small meatball noodle. Alls I'm saying is, I (aka my father) better not have been paying more for the ambience of the place, because the food tasted like it would have at the humble old pho joint next to McDonalds by my old house. Also, the front host / waitress waited a good five minutes to seat us after we arrived, but I hate sounding whiney so I shall end here. I came here one evening around 7pm to pick up food on my way home from work. I looked at their to go menu, and ordered a bowl of pho. Then I noticed that they have Banh Xeo, so I ordered that as well. I was politely told that this location does not have that. Oh well. I was told the wait time was about 10 mins, and that was kind of surprising since most Pho places can have your bowl in front of you within 2 mins. Not more than 5 mins later, my order was ready. I was more than happy, and I took my food and headed home. I got home and was surprised to find that everything was packaged separately. Usually the meat and noodles are in the same container, the broth is in another and the "toppings" (bean sprouts, basil, etc) are in another. I was also happy to find that they included sauce packets. Sriracha comes in a packet?! NO WAY!!! At this point, I was thrilled about my experience with Pho Wagon. I mixed my soup and sat down to eat, and something just wasnt right. I cant put my finger on it, but the flavor of the broth was lacking something. It wasnt bad, by any means, but it wasnt great. I still ate it all, so obviously I was very hungry, or I'm just being too critical. I would definitely go back here. I was just here after waiting for my to go/ pick up- called 30 minutes earlier food. I waited an extra 15 minutes and still no food. Given they are busy- that's why I called ahead of time because I know the lunch traffic. The lady just apologized and told me the kitchen people just told her to wait whenever she asked for my food!
