I was not expecting decent pho in the middle of Wisconsin. Was pleasantly surprised. Needed to get some Asian food in me after being out here for a couple days and randomly found this place. Don't expect Westminster level pho, but the broth was clean and good and the pho came with all the usual accoutrements. I'd come back if I was ever back in the area.

Amazing and cozy! Lots of beuautiful plants and fast sweet service! Do yourself a favor and get the pork bahn mi! So sweet and savory. Amazing bread. The soup pictured is a SMALL and is $10! How amazing! I always eat till I'm full and have enough for dinner tomorrow! Perfect for people who appreciate good viet food, fast service, good prices, and aren't snobs about atmosphere.

Shrimp spring rolls were OK but the peanut sauce was fantastic.

If you love diners and unassuming food spots, Pho VN is for you. A big bowl of spicy pho in a diner is my preferred winter Friday night outing and I wasnt disappointed. A welcoming place with friendly staff and a family feel. Veggie tofu pho was packed full of a variety of veggies and a tasty broth. The shrimp spring rolls were OK, but the peanut sauce was fantastic.

I don't think I give out five star reviews higgledy-piggledy, and if I were writing this to really mean perfection, it would be closer to four - but that would be nit-picking on a place that really is what it's supposed to be. (IE: it isn't supposed to have amazing lighting, or cushy seating, or anything of the like). Pho VN is bare bones, florescent, and affordable. Beyond that, the people are friendly, and the food is phenomenal. This has become, I think I can easily say this, my husband's new favorite go-to restaurant in town. He is in love with their Pho, which he likes more than me, and can gulp down a big bowl happily in one sitting. What has crept up and surpassed this pho-natic love is their Bahn Mi sandwich. - Which makes perfect sense! It has just the right combo of flavors: Imagine the best French bread you've ever tasted, with just a touch of mayo, deliciously spiced sweet charbroiled beef, spicy sliced jalapenos, shaved carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and even fantastically fresh cilantro. I finally had to order my own Bahn Mi, and was shocked I ate almost the whole thing (these sandwiches are HUGE!) If we're talking apps, my favorite is their 'sauteed garlic and butter shrimp' which may be sauteed, but is also breaded and fried - that comes basically on a salad and can be a meal in and of itself. It's so amazingly tasty by itself, but the sauce that comes with it doesn't hurt either! I often find myself ordering the vermicelli noodles with charbroiled beef and fresh vegetables - the flavors in this are awesome. It also comes with an egg roll (my husband likes their egg rolls more than me, so it's good the roll comes split in three pieces, as I give him two), as well as two grilled shrimp that are amazing, and a delicious combo of lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumbers, etc. (check my pics on here). On more apps: The calamari is simple but good, and the chicken salad could feed 4-6 people (as an app) or 2 for a main. It's HUGE! Shredded chicken and veggies in a sweet and sour sauce, surrounded by sliced, fresh jalapenos, it's interesting and very good. I was not a fan of the fried tofu, but my hubby liked it well enough. I wish they had tarot bubble tea, but as of now we've tried their coffee bubble tea which is good. Thanks for making an "I don't know, what should we eat tonight?" dinner question that much easier, Pho VN!

Where's the sixth star? Because they deserve it! I like all different types of places to eat: eating at home, eating at a sushi bar, eating at fancy places, eating at delicious holes-in-the-wall, eating at 3-Michelin starred restaurants, eating on a train, pretty much everywhere. But of all the different genres of food-consumption venues, Pho VN fits the profile of what I like he most, for these reasons: First and foremost, the food is consistently great, and all of the ingredients are fresh. They have an open kitchen. There's a very good variety, it's family-run, the service is always friendly, and you can tell they have a customer-is-always-right attitude. The portions are generous without being to the point of excess, and I always leave feeling satisfied both in my tummy and my bank account. Favorite dishes include: the Bahn Mi (#69), one of the best sandwiches from a restaurant that I have ever had, Tai Gau (#36) the pho with rare beef and brisket which has excellent quality meat and very fresh ingredients, Cha Gio 4 Cuon (#1) which are the best egg rolls I've ever had, ever. I find that all their other appetizers are delicious, but not always what you expect when you order them. Bubble tea is also always a plus. Pho VN is a great go-to place for a quick, delicious, reasonably-priced meal that you should definitely try out.

I personally think the Pho broth taste better by itself. After I put all the soy sauce and chili oil, it didn't taste as good anymore. The store ran out of all boba smoothies and drinks on the menu . I give them 2 star for food and 1 star for chili oil. Lol... but overall, not bad for Sheboygan.

Veggie Bun with Egg roll and fried tofu

Saw this place come up when searching for nearby dinner spots. So impressed! Got the fried tofu appetizer and the Veggie Bun with the egg roll. While the tofu wasn't quite as crispy as I would prefer, the Bun absolutely blew me away. I always search for this dish as it is a favorite of mine, and this was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The place may not look great from the outside, or the inside for that matter, however the food redeems it ten fold. Highly recommend! I look forward to coming back next time I'm in the area

I've been to many Pho places and this one is by far the best. For what you get I think that they are under charging but I'm not going to complain. It is extremely fresh and MSG free. It comes with a side of beans sprouts, jalapeño, and lime. If you're looking for authentic South East Asian food, this is it. It does not get better. The portions are huge and on weekends the dining room is packed with many Southeast Asian customers who can appreciate the heart that goes into every bowl.

Food is not that great. I would recommend going to the Asian store (Lucky Star) for takeout food rather here.

This place was recommended, so we decided to give it a try on a cold Saturday morning. Food: We ordered a couple of lattes and some breakfast. For drinks, it was one Vanilla Latte and one London Fog Tea Latte. We asked for mugs, but they were served in glasses instead. Not quite the same, but acceptable. Both drinks were made well, with good texture, nice flavor, and the right temperature. For food, we ordered one Veggie Quiche and a piece of Spanakopita. After they were reheated properly (see Service below), both were very good. I had the Spanakopita, and it was loaded with spinach and feta. The dough-to-filling ratio was excellent. The flavors were rich and complex. The portion size was large, larger than my appetite, but I somehow managed to keep working on it until I was completely stuffed. Service: The service around the food was disappointing. Even though we were clearly dining in, our order was marked as takeout. This created a number of issues. When the food arrived in takeout containers, I mentioned that we were eating inside (especially obvious since our drinks were in glasses). The server simply shrugged and said, "Oh well, they are marked as takeout." I went to the counter and asked for plates and that the food be brought to the proper temperature. It took a while, but they eventually returned with the food reheated, served on plates, and replaced the plastic utensils with metal ones. There was very little acknowledgment that a mistake had been made, and no real apology for the delays. Atmosphere: The place is rustic and right on the water. It reminded me of a fish shanty, in a charming way. There are a couple of different rooms for seating, and we chose one in the back that was quieter. I liked the authentic feel of it. However, there were some areas with old furniture piled up for storage, which took away a bit from the overall look. They also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the river, which would be a lovely spot to sit on a warm day. We would go back. If we ordered food again, I would just make sure they clearly understood from the start that we were dining in so the details were handled correctly.

Not sure if that is the norm or if it was because it was a holiday weekend and many other businesses were closed. We all enjoyed our meals. I especially liked the chicken curry wrap. You could tell all the food is made fresh. They have tables inside and outside. There are tables outside by the canal and some around the side of the building. We picked a table outside on the side, but a bee kept on trying to land on my sister's smoothie so we ended up eating and running.

They did an okay job on the London Fog Latte. The main limitations were the space and setup. There were only a few small tables available, and they did not have ceramic mugs for serving. It felt a bit cramped and less like a true coffee shop experience. I would love to come back and try it again once it is back in its own dedicated space.

Awakening has an array of espresso beverages and coffee as well as smoothies and a few baked items. My dining companion and I both opted for one of their seasonal specialty lattes. They have milk alternatives, so we were both able to get our desired almond milk for our lattes. Their espresso is pitch perfect. I can not overstate this. Seriously, one of the best lattes I have had the pleasure of consuming in the entire state of Wisconsin right here in little ol' Kohler. That alone made the drive from Milwaukee worth it. Their bites are limited to bakery sweet treats. I'm not much for sweet in the morning but was pleased to find that the grocery store where Awakening is situated has lovely savory breakfast options. As I mentioned, they are situated inside a grocery store but don't let that deter you. The grocery store itself is charming and they have a lovely dining area in the middle of the store where you can enjoy your coffee and bites. Our barista was absolutely lovely. They were the one who clued us in on the delicious breakfast bites that we could get at the adjacent deli in addition to serving up such a delicious latte. Get to it!
