Today I got to taste the Spicy Beef Soup (House Special) and it really was good. Also, the service was very friendly and helpful.

Wife wanted to eat a bahm mi sandwich for lunch. She went through a number of Yelp reviews and pick Pho Viet. The restaurant is located in the Manoa Market Place shopping center on the second floor. Upon entering you see Hawaii inspired muraled walls. A large bar and some television monitors. Spacious table and booth seating. Greeted and seated Menus and water soon followed. We shared the Chicken banh mi and spring rolls. The bahn mi sandwich had thick slices of cucumber and bell peppers . My wife said her half had carrots. I looked again to see if I had any. Nope Chicken had a good taste. I prefer a croissant bun. Spring Rolls had a slightly different taste than others I've eaten. Stiill good. This restaurant is upscale so are the prices. Enjoy

I'm really a Chinatown princess. So when I found this hidden gem in Manoa, I had to rave about it on Yelp. No gatekeepers around here. Stopped here on a whim and was immediately greeted by staff. It's giving sports bar restaurant vibes. Might come here next time to watch some games. I was sat at a clean table and ordered a peach green tea, brisket pho, special combo banh mi, and spring rolls. (Insert 'White Chicks' quote: And for the lady? Perhaps a salad? Perhaps not.) IFYKYK The pho here is MAYJAH! Broth was sweet and umami. Noodles were perfectly chewy and bouncy. But the meat. Melted in my mouth. You can tell if a Viet restaurant is good not only by their pho, but by their banh mi and spring rolls. And all of it was FIRE. On point. Did you know they also have a teaspresso in the restaurant?? Mind blowing. Definitely coming back for boba and pho. I feel bad for those people with allergies because aside from the language barrier of the servers the food is goOOoOood and the servers are attentive. **FYI please let your servers know when you're deathly allergic to something cause you never know how food is prepared. Best to not assume.

Very good but expensive. Ambiance is nice too. Staff is very attentive and will refill water. I enjoyed the sampler. Everyone enjoyed their dishes.

Wanted to eat bahn mi sandwich for lunch so I was on yelp looking for a place to go well there is alot in our area chinatown but no parking and need to walk maybe couple of blocks. So I came across this one located at the manoa market place. Being its Sunday parking was crowded because of the small open market they have. Located upstairs 2nd floor i said to my husband oh my got to climb the stairs. But we didn't have too there's a elevator to the 2nd floor. Yay. Caught it and there it was the restaurant. We ordered spring rolls and my bahn mi BBQ chicken sandwich. The spring rolls were good the taste was well prepared. But only 3 rolls on 1 order. The bahn mi was good had clinatro, cucumber and jalapeño and sliced carrots and daikon on the bottom. The chicken had a little spice in it but could handle it. Enjoyed the sandwich and spring rolls. Would go back again.

BBQ Chicken rice plate with Thai Milk Tea

FOOD -- BBQ Chicken rice plate was tasty, flavorful, well seasoned! I also had a Thai tea that was good. They have a Teaspresso bar inside the restaurant -- I never expected a restaurant that has a built-in boba shop inside. SERVICE -- Service was great. I came here with a group of 4, and spent like 2-3 hours in this place to discuss a project and the workers didn't rush us out of the place which I greatly appreciated. This place also offers karaoke rooms upstairs, by the hour. AMBIANCE -- The ambiance felt warm and cozy-- wooden furniture; red, orange, yellow, purple tones in their led lights. The AC strength is acceptable for a hot summer day. The place is overall spacious and has high ceilings.

Shrimp pho, chantilly cake, banana tapioca (DO NOT GET), world's smallest flan
Mari T.

I had no idea this place existed but I got a recommendation from a friend and decided to give it a shot. 1/5 would not recommend for anything but the chantilly cake. But first let me explain. Positives: free parking in Manoa Marketplace. Clean bathroom. Elevator to 2nd floor=accessible. Chantilly cake was very good: nice and moist and dense and flavor was on point. Now let me start with the cons: bathroom you need to walk around the corner and down the hall (not close). Shrimp pho was just ok: flavor was average, portion was a bit small (lots of soup with not too many noodles). The worst part of this whole experience were the other 2 desserts I got to go for my husband. I am not exaggerating when I say the flan is like something in a doll cafe. I couldn't believe they would dare to charge $5.95 for a flan that was barely 2 bites. It was not even that good; pretty bland and watery. But then I ordered the banana tapioca and it was absolutely horrible. The texture was like it was previously frozen. It was gritty and not creamy at all. It was crumbly. That is not how any tapioca should be. What a waste of $12 plus tax (they also charge a 3% fee for card so bring cash). They also have karaoke but it's pretty expensive. The menu is very large so I might try it 1 more time but I feel like I just got ripped off!

We have been going here for a few years, and it has been a solid staple for Vietnamese food in Manoa. It is located in Manoa Marketplace on the second floor above the pizza place downstairs. There is a parking lot in front and it is quite large. The restaurant itself is a decent size with a lot of space. It feels quite cheerful inside and there are signs for food, drinks, and karaoke. There is a selection of rice, noodle, and other dishes. I usually get the house special fried rice. It is one of my favorites -- super flavorful and a good portion. However, the last time we were there, it took longer than we were told to get our food. We ended up waiting quite a bit. We will be back though because the service is usually fine and the food is consistently good!

BBQ Chicken Banh Mi! huge !
Meleana L.

Craving a Banh Mi and this restaurant was the first option that popped up on Yelp. Wish we could've eaten the sandwich fresh but we want to get home before the after school traffic. Ordered 2 bbq chicken Banh mi for take out. Sandwiches were wrapped in foil and were still warm when we got home (15mins away from restaurant). Very flavorful and bbq chicken was tender. Wish i asked for extra pickled veggies and cucumbers bc I love these toppings. The jalapeños in the sandwich creates a great spice as well. The onions however were too strong and threw off the taste. If in Manoa, I would love to dine in next time.

Tofu Lemongrass Banh Mi

We had spent the entire week trying to find a Vietnamese gem of a restaurant and it finally happened. We saw that they had boba on their menu and we were scratching our heads because ain't no way having so many items on their menu would equate to a good meal. We thought there would be a lack in quality but NOOOO! We were so wrong. Every single dish we ordered had us FLOORED. We ordered: -ube latte (BOMB) -vegan spring rolls (BOMB) -tofu banh mi (FRESH BAGUETTE, bomb) -Vietnamese curry with tofu (BOMB I recommend getting with a side of bread) -lemongrass tofu vermicelli (BOMB) We were so caught off guard by the quality of every single dish. This place is going to be our #1 Vietnamese spot moving forward. Definitely no frills and fancy plating but it will surprise you. Parking: FREE Location: 2nd Floor above Aroma Italia. They had huge groups at the restaurant when we went but we still got our food super fast. Service was very attentive and mindful of our dietary restrictions. PLEASE, my friends....treat yourself. They deserve all of the love and support.

The pho was decent, but I didn't appreciate the 3% credit card surcharge, especially since the waiter didn't mention it in advance.

Went last night. Sorry but beef stew is a stew not a soup. And don't overcook the fish. I'm out.

The guava bar was delicious and flavorful and just crumbles in your mouth! Definitely one of the better guava bars I've tried. Love how crumbly it is. The salmon belly was delicious OMFG. It looks so simple and straightforward but that sht is so flavorful. It is crispy and yet soft on the inside. The salmon belly is cut into bite-sized pieces so I didn't have to worry about using a knife to cut it. I usually try salmon belly where it is usually seasoned lightly to bring out the natural flavor of the salmon, but Guava Smoked's salmon belly is just grilled in a way that makes the salmon sweet/crispy and still get traces of the salmon taste as well. It's definitely not your traditional Japanese-style way of cooking salmon belly but really just their own. I'd go back and get this again. Another thing too. I'd get this with beer. This would hit very hard with alcohol but because I don't drink I need a kombucha. The grilled salmon belly would go perfect with it. Cheers! Uncle was very helpful and kind when serving and if you dine-in he brings it to your table.

TL;DR The spicy pork…read moreis good. ----- I had Guava Smoked on my radar for quite a while, so when I found myself nearby and craving a protein-packed plate lunch, I decided to drop in. There is a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant that is shared with the other businesses in the same building. When I walked into the restaurant at about 1pm on a Wednesday, I was surprised to find it almost empty. It's a pretty large space, so the lack of patrons was rather glaring. There was one person sitting at the counter facing the kitchen and one employee working. This was my very first visit to Guava Smoked so I asked the person at the counter what he recommends. He said the two most popular meats are the kalbi and the spicy pork. "Perfect!" I thought, because those were the two options I was eyeing. Unfortunately, they were out of kalbi that day. Bummer... Nothing else on the menu caught my eye, so I ordered a smoked spicy pork plate to go. The spicy pork was good. Did it blow my mind? I wouldn't say it did. But it was satisfying enough. Honestly, I really wish they had kalbi available when I went. Hopefully next time I stop in they will.

This place makes their soondae in house as I can tell the difference with frozen soondae and non-frozen ones. Until I go to Korea to try the real thing, this is the best I can get. I definitely think they improved their recipe from the first time I tried it. The aunties here are still very nice but as always give grace because it does get busy here and one aunty would have to take care of multiple tables and party size as well. Overall I'll be coming here whenever I need my soondae fix!! If you haven't tried, definitely come and try! I still need to try the acye here with friends one day!

Lowk wanted to gatekeep this place, but dropping the review is a must, I wanna see this place…read morethrive but hopefully I can still walk in and grab a seat. The food is good, I love AYCE BBQ and all of the meat they provide is EXCELLENT, especially the pork/samgyupsal. The only thing they can beat at is the beef tongue, while it is still very good, Gyu Kaku has better beef tongue but it's just expensive so not worth it at all. Their banchan is great, I am a fan of the Kim Chi they serve here, it has a nice funk to it and a subtle sourness that cuts through the well marbled meat you'll be eating. The Kim Chi soup is also great as well, just as a warning, if you rarely eat kimchi you WILL have increased bowel movements which is not food poisoning but it's the probiotic gut health nature of Kim Chi that flushes you out. So eat it in moderation. My favorite picks are the Pork Jowl/Brisket/Bulgogi/Beef Belly, you literally cannot miss with whatever you pick, it's all very tasty and easy to eat. The service is awesome and feels homy, all the auntys walk around and do their own thing and sometimes check up on you/restock your banchan/soup if you want them to. They have a button you can press to ring them up but you rarely need to do it. If you're not used to how asian auntys talk or behave please don't take it negatively, they express themselves in a brusque manner but they really mean the best. Overall, great meat, great service, great parking space and convenient. The last time I found an awesome tasty spot and wanted to gatekeep it was Seasons Taiwanese Eatery.
