Pho is very much a preference thing. Each pho restaurant has their special broth and it all comes down to your taste buds and what you like. Tonight two people of our party had pho and one said it was the best by far, and the other felt that our usual haunt in Hawaii was more to her liking. I wasn't able to taste their broths but by smell alone, it smelt really delicious. My dinner, the boneless sweet/sour chicken with fried rice, was a good sized plate. (See attached pic). So much so, it will be a decent snack later on tomorrow in the form of leftovers. The service is what I want to also comment on. The staff was very welcoming and the food came out fast. Please also note that their "spring roll" is what most people call a summer roll. Their deep fried spring roll is called an "egg roll" on their menu so make sure you know what you want and order accordingly. Decent pho spot in Spokane. The restaurant seemed to be little disorganized. I asked if they had veggie pho and the waiter wasn't sure (which seemed weird because the place is a pho restaurant). However the chicken pho and wonton soup were both good. Honestly, nothing amazing but it was fine. I have gone to this restaurant twice during lunchtime and it has never disappointed. The first time I got a Bahn Mi sandwich and the bread of us fluffy on the inside and crusty on the outside, just like it should be. The pickled veggies inside and the meats were delicious. The second time I went, I had #11 Cơm Thịt Heo Nướng, Thịt Bò, Trứng Gà, & Tôm. This was so flavorful. The marinated meat was soft and tasty and the fluffy rice complimented every bite. The egg on top is a perfect touch. I bite it with meat rice, egg yolk, and green onion was amazing. This is the first time I've ever tried this dish and I still think about it to this day. I ordered the spring rolls that came in a chewy rice paper wrapping. Although it comes with a peanut sauce, I'm not a big fan. So I asked for a different dipping sauce and they brought me out this sweet fish sauce with pepper flakes. If you're new to Vietnamese food, I highly recommend you try these dishes. First time here and I didn't order coz I saw Bun Bo Hue. This is more of the classic spicy beef and pork soup that I loved when I was in Vietnam. Overall, it was good but could have been better. The broth needed a little bit of seasoning and umami flavor. The big big difference is that in Vietnam, they use real pork hock which gives that velvety broth flavor. Food: 4/5 I've tried the Ban Mi sandwich before at an event and I had to go back and check out some more foods. My partner got Pho Tom and I got the #26, sweet and sour chicken and almond chicken. I didn't really like the sauce on the almond chicken but the sweet and sour one was good. the chicken is severely fried and they are big chunks. The food came out piping hot which I love, but the food was a bit unhealthy for me, I'd probably stick to the bahn mi next time. Ambiance: 2.5/5 The restaurant was pretty dirty. There were dirty fingerprint stains on the door to come in, the walls/picture frames had splattered food all over them and the tables had a glass top but with a gap in between so there was a lot of food/sauce/crumbs in between the table top and the glass which was honestly disgusting to me. I couldn't trust any of the condiments on the table because of the state of it. Service: Our server ordered with us pretty quickly but then it started to pickup with many more people coming in and we were waiting around for a while, had to get our own food trays which was okay because they are in the center of the restaurant but we had to end up going up to the counter to pay which may be how they do it, we just didn't know. For reference, I am Vietnamese and come from a big city with an abundance of Vietnamese options that were delicious for the American palate but not enough for my immigrant Vietnamese parents (understandably). As so, I always look towards reviews to give me a reference of how someone is reviewing a restaurant so I can set my expectations accordingly. This was my first time here and I got the bun Bo hue to-go. It came out well packaged and very hot. The flavors were overall okay, it was palatable and if someone had given it to me, I would've finished it fine. Bun Bo hue is usually an extremely fragrant, spicy dish due to the lemongrass and various spices it's cooked with. There was flavor (it wasn't bland) but the depth of the flavors were lacking and I couldn't really taste the lemongrass nor the spiciness. The portion of the noodles was also small and not filling, but that may or may not be due to getting take out? Granted I didn't eat the meat (I usually don't, but I still get full from bun Bo hue usually). I will say the people working there in the front spoke Vietnamese and the overall atmosphere felt like it could've been authentic, but perhaps it's been adjusted towards a Spokane palate either for survival or due to lack of resources here (not sure). I would love for them to thrive and would want try other dishes there for a more fair review as bun Bo hue is somewhat niche and may not be ordered enough for them to perfect it. read more

I live in an area where pho restaurants are in abundance. I know great pho from mediocre. Pho Van is the real deal and Spokane is fortunate to have it. The broth is very flavorful and the noodle texture is just right. Highly recommend it. My mom got the shrimp Chow Fun. This was also fabulous with loads of shrimp and vegetables. This is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the city area, and I know my Hubby loves it too for their roast duck. What I like most, is I can get any of their soups with egg noodles, instead of rice noodles. I don't have a problem with rice noodles, I just like the flavor of the egg noodles better. The spring rolls here, I think, are the biggest ones in town, and are very fresh. I love dipping them in hoisen sauce, leaving the peanut sauce to whoever wants it. The staff are very nice in here, and we always see the friendly owner working the whole restaurant and saying hello to all us patrons. read more

I got a chicken fried rice and added a ton of hot chili oil - it was delicious, filling, and it should have been enough for two meals but I ate it all in one sitting. I went here once so far. Let's start with the food. I ordered the #7. Definitely couldn't finish the large bowl. I underestimated how much I could handle Make sure you add the roots and the lime to the pho, gives it more flavor (and if you love spicy, add the chili sauce). The only thing stopping me from giving this place 5 stars is the right spaces. People kept hitting my friend's chair because there wasn't enough room to move around. Ever since this place was recommended, I have been coming here regularly to get my pho craving satisfied. It is clean and one of the larger pho places in the area. You pay at the register after you are done eating. PARKING: Free in the lot it is located. VIETNAMESE ICED COFFEE: A little on the pricey side and heavy with the ice, but overall the flavor is good. Would recommend asking for less ice. SPRING ROLLS: These rolls come with pork, basil, lettuce, rice noodle, and shrimp with a peanut dipping sauce. This was a miss for me. The peanut dipping sauce was on the watery side and the spring roll itself had mostly lettuce. PHO TAI: This pho dish comes with steak, vermicelli rice noodles, and in beef broth. This is my usual pho go-to order. I like it a lot! They recently increased prices in Sept 2021 so now a large costs $14 and a small costs $13. For only a dollar more, I'd get a large. Uh, sadly our second time we did dine in and were hugely disappointed. The chicken Pho came with some of the things listed below and there was a generous amount of noodles however, the chicken tasted like it had been cooked yesterday. It was kind of dry and maybe could have been refrigerated uncovered. The teriyaki was horrible. The chicken breast was thinly sliced horizontally then glopped with a terrible sauce and served over (not even warm) rice. There was a chunk of iceberg lettuce on the plate and a couple of giant cucumber slices . Not sure what you were supposed to do with the lettuce as there wasn't any dressing. They also served a side of the horrible teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki sauce has to be one they make. I'm going to guess it has (too much) pomegranate molasses. We won't be back and will continue the search for good teriyaki. First review: Really happy to find a Pho place that measures up to what we have in Seattle. Wonderful, flavorful chicken pho with shredded white meat, noodles, bean sprouts, jalapeños, cilantro, basil, onions, etc. but also a bonus of a few crispy fried onions. Dropped by on a rainy Sunday afternoon just after the lunch rush. I was the only customer and wanted take-out. I ordered Beef Pho for myself and chicken pho for my wife I asked for chopsticks instead of plastic ware. The order was ready in about 15 minutes and I returned home. Upon unpacking, I discovered the beef pho had a lot of chicken in it and the chicken pho was all shrimp. I also found plastc spoons instead of the disposable chopstcks. When you make a first visit to a restaurant during it's down time, it is awfully disappointing to find such poor attention being paid to the specifics of every aspect of the order.
