After a long day of driving, Vien Dong Restaurant was exactly what we needed. When we walked in, the place was literally packed--every single table was full--which is always a great sign. Despite being completely at capacity, the staff was incredibly efficient. Our order was taken promptly, and the food came out surprisingly fast. The Pho Tai (rare steak) and the Pho Tai Nam (rare steak and brisket) were absolutely amazing. The broth was rich and comforting, the meat was tender, and every bite hit the spot after a long day on the road. You can really tell they take pride in their food. Even with how busy it was, the service never felt rushed or chaotic. Everything ran smoothly, which says a lot about how well this place is managed. My family and I love Vien Dong. This is our go-to comfort meal in Spokane. We come here at least once a month. The family that operates Vien Dong will take your order, run your food, and bus your table. Don't expect cloth napkins or to be waited on hand and foot, that's not the style, but the service is always fast, even when it's busy, which it often is. I always order a grilled pork Banh Mi or Pho. I've been to every Vietnamese restaurant in town, and this is my favorite for the food, but it also happens to have the best prices. The place was packed for lunch as it should be cuz my small brisket pho and summer rolls were delicious!! My friend seems to enjoy her chicken pho, too. I love dining in there, but the entre' food I ordered togo was sub par. Mongolian beef stir fry medium spicy. Honestly, the only flavor was from the hoisin sauce and chile sauce I added. It was bland enough that I added soy to it as well. I ate the meat part which wasn't exactly generous in portion amount. I tossed out 2/3 of it. Not having that again. I told the waiter I did not receive any extra meat as I literally could not see anything other than thinly sliced meat. He went to kitchen and came back and pointed at my plate and said yes I was given all my meat! after mixing it I indeed had one small piece of each meat in my pho!!!! We recently moved to the Spokane area and we moved from a city with a very large selection of authentic Asian cuisine so I've been on the hunt for some delicious Asian food and this place was recommended to us. While I can't say it's as good as the Pho we are used to, it was pretty good overall. I can't speak to the service or ambiance as we ordered it for delivery, but I can't say it tasted good and we were satisfied with our meal. Came for lunch with friends because we were craving pho. Let me tell you the pho was amazing. Broth had so much flavor. Everyone was so happy with it. The table had banh mi and one of the best ones I've had and definitely best one in Spokane. The table also had beef and veggies (husband said so delicious) and chicken and veggies (family members said so flavorful) fried rice was just ok. But we added the condiments that the table had and that helped. Staff was sweet and kind. The restaurant was so clean. We had two little ones laughing and playing and staff was so sweet with them. I've been going to this place since I was a kid and IM OBSESSED. It's a family run restaurant that continuously produces amazing food. Everything on their menu is phenomenal. I don't know another place in town that you can get this much food for this cheap. They keep their prices, very reasonable and quality high not to mention that food is good for you and made fresh to order. They do takeout as well. As for the food, it takes about 10 minutes or so to come out, which is amazing especially when you're hungry. I always get combination pho with everything in it. Sometimes spring rolls sometimes eggrolls. we also like to get the special chow mein, which is amazing. The fried chow mein is delicious too. Honestly, Everything is delicious. Arguably for the price Vien Dong should be 4 stars, but in the end, it is not a place I would go. Spring rolls are very good and a good deal. Peanut sauce was ok. Pho was also a good deal with a lot of noodles and meat. However, there broth was missing the creaminess, and the meat was really tough. There are definitely pluses for this place, but if the broth doesn't cut it, does anything else matter? The selection for meats and noodles for the soup was really good. Service was passable. The place wasn't busy, but we gave up getting more tea and just paid. Ambiance reminds me of any number of big, cheap pho restaurants: bright lights, clean, sterile. read more

Simple layout with a few TVs around. I got the Bún Thịt Nuong Cha Gio Fresh Noodle with Egg Roll, Grilled Pork. Portions are massive... the bowl is basically filled to the brim. The spring roll was crispy. The pork was fatty and flavorful. I've only been to a handful of Pho places and would not say this place stands out amongst them quality-wise. It's still very good, but I'm just impressed by the price/quantity. I would be interested to try other menu items, but my 2 experiences here have been great. This place was great. From the outside it seems small but as soon as you walk through the door it opens up and is very clean. We were seated right away and our waitress came over and grabbed our drink orders. I ordered the pho and my husband ordered the banh mi sandwich. Everything arrived quickly and was tasty. The pho had a light broth but all of the vegetables were very fresh and came with all of the side condiments to make it your own. The sandwich was loaded with vegetables and pork and came on a nice soft crispy bread. It was very beautiful but next time my husband would add something else to his lunch as the sandwich on its own was a little light. Overall a great experience, great service and fresh food. It's way out of the way for us, but we keep coming back! This is now our go to Pho place. Best Pho in the Spokane to Coeur D'Alene area. Doesn't hurt that they have excellent Lemongrass Chicken. To boot, some of the best egg rolls we've tasted. The restaurant is clean and the staff very friendly. There is no reason to not go hear if you like any of the food mentioned. The only thing we miss is avocado smoothies like a lot of Pho places have. Otherwise, this place is top notch for great Vietnamese fare. read more
