I am excited to hear Ming Wah is open again. I tried a few times before Covid and they were not open. Their Sub Gum was always outstanding. Love their Egg Flower Soup, Fried Rice. I am looking forward to ordering this again. To go only is a bit of a bummer. I always enjoyed the owners and their employees at a table. Ming Wah is not in the best part of town. Great food, incredible flavors and left us wanting to totally explore the full menu. I've lived in Spokane for 35 years. Just moved back after 12 years in LA, and I can say hands down this is legit. I've ALWAYS loved their cantonese style chow mein. And yes, not everything on the GIANT menu is amazing. But if you find 3-4 things that are great just stick with it. Just this week I had the chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, and some rice. It brought back all the memories of why I love this place, and why I'm happy to be in Spokane again. read more

We have been looking for an American Chinese food restaurant in the Spokane area since recently moving here. We had a great favorite one in our old city. We loved the clean tasting food we always got there. So in our quest we came upon Ming Wah. Says it's the oldest Chinese restaurant in town. We figured that was a good sign that it was still around. Mixed reviews got us wondering what we would get. We called and they have pick up only. So we decided to give them a try. Ordering was great. They got everything correct. Pick up was a bit odd as they act like the pandemic is in full swing. Can't come in till order us up, one at a time, designated in and out doors. Oh my! On to the food...bbq pork was dry and discolored. Dark brown areas. (I was afraid to eat the brown ones). Wonton soup was good. Pork sub gum chow mein was yummy. But not a fan of the large Chrissy chow mein noodles. ( they were very hard). I like the normal size ones. Fried rice was good. I like that it didn't have all the carrots and peas that everywhere adds now. (When did that become a thing?). Lemon chicken was good also. Mostly it was a good meal. In all these visits I cannot believe I've never reviewed this place!! Been coming here since the early 90's and not much has changed. Food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. This is definitely Americanized Chinese food but I love every dish I've ever eaten here. Definite favorites are the house special chow mein and the cashew chicken ding. This is not haute cuisine or fine dining but it's great prices and and amazingly friendly staff. Happy to give the full five stars!!! read more

Came to dine in on a Tuesday evening around 6:30 and this place was bumping!!! About 3/4 of the tables inside were full and they were cranking out to go orders like crazy! Regardless, the food came out super quick and our water glasses were frequently filled. Really delicious egg drop soup!!! The pork fried rice and chicken dishes were pretty good. I could have passed on the chow mein-lacked flavor for me. Otherwise if you're into solid sub par Chinese food, this is your spot. Oh and the portions were pretty big! Could have definitely shared one dinner combo with my husband and had plenty of food. Will definitely come back for my Chinese food cravings. read more

They would get 5 stars, except I use them through Grubhub, and it never fails that something goes wrong, or the restaurant cancels the order randomly or some other shenanigan's. The food is great when not soggy from delivery which is not their fault. It's the closest to authentic Chinese I've had in Spokane and the prices are actually reasonable. Most other Chinese places are outrageously high and don't taste as good as Ming Wah. read more

They still do only take out and I suspect it is because they can serve you far inferior and lacking meals in small boxes and you don't realize you got ripped off till you got home. It was hot as hell inside the restaurant while I stood inside to order. Had to go wait in my car to get some A/C. They would not give me a small hot and sour soup and said they would only prepare large orders...but those are very expensive. The whole order was $25. 1 teriyaki chicken(box half full of cabbage) and a small (and very disappointing) pork fried rice. Hell to the no ever again. read more

Circa 1960's/70's style americanized Chinese that you take can your mid-western grandparents to. Not horrible, not memorable, not expensive, and not good. It would probably be better late night if you were completely hammered. Soy has to go on everything for flavor. Egg Fu Yong gravy is a cross between library paste and....library paste with no flavor. Really can't come up with any redeeming qualities for this place. Hate to be harsh, but I've been so spoiled with delicious, fresh food at Vietnamese joints, that I just can't stomach places like this anymore. Dated and dingy Chinese restaurant with sub-par Americanized Chinese food. I've eaten here several times with family and such. Always gives me a bad headache, so I assume the food is loaded with MSG. Service is not the best. Their chow mein is served with crunchy noodles? Very weird and not that appetizing. The food isn't *horrible*...It's edible but that's about it. Was watching Mad Men and got nostalgic seeing them eating Ameri-Chinese food out of paper cartons. Was originally thinking of going to Gordy's, but they turned out to be closed - so on the way home ended up stopping by Ming Wah (place looked packed). Congratulations, Ming Wah, for winning the title of worst food I've eaten since moving to Spokane. I'm typically not so dramatic in my reviews, but this was bad bad food - it wasn't even the fake Ameri-Cantonese food I was expecting. They didn't even know how to make that. I asked the server if particular dishes would suit the tastes of someone ethnically Chinese. They lied to my face. Of course, this has happened before at other restaurants, but previously only on the phone for delivery Chinese. This was unforgivable. Please look at the above pictures for reference. Sesame chicken was completely wrong. Tiny specs of chicken heavily battered and fried in old oil. Atrocious. Mongolian beef was likewise wrong. Instead of slices of beef with green and white onion, they served me this corn-starch heavy glop in brown/black sauce. Meat was likewise miniscule and highly absent. It was more like vegetables in gloppy brown meat-flavored sauce. The mu-shu chicken (which I've NEVER had messed up elsewhere) came out entirely wrong as well. This was cabbage in gloppy chicken-flavored brown sauce. Every dish was wrong. It was highly disappointing. Like other reviewers, the mu-shu pancakes came out cold straight from the walk-in. Clearly a high profit margin operation where the diner suffers, and they depend on the clientele to be too stupid to know any better. On the bright side, I'll never feel guilty eating at P.F. Ming Wah is a pleasant little Chinese restaurant near downtown. The atmosphere, staff, and food is quite comforting. This small neon signed hut is located next to a busy railroad track. As a result, you are assured to hear and feel the hum of a locomotive. I'm am not sure if I am weird, but I find this reassuring. The small dining room is great for eavesdropping on your neighboring tables. The kitchen staff is often animated and communicates loudly in an Asian dialect. This is mixed in with the sounds of stir fry pans and deep fat fryers. It's lively. The staff is small. It seems to run by a single family. The daughter takes your drink order, the mother takes your meal order, and the father delivers your plated meal. Meanwhile, a young man cooks in the back. It's dynamic. I ordered one of the combination plates. It was great Chinese food. The sweet and sour pork was glistening crunchy and sweet. The almond chicken was was crisp and savory. The broccoli beef was perfect. Perhaps the best I have ever eaten. Some areas for improvement would be the fried rice, pot stickers, and crab won-tons. The fried rice was good, but it was overshadowed by the amazing entree selections. I wish the rice had more scallions, pork, and egg. It's a bit anemic. The hot deep fried appetizers were disappointing because they were a bit oily. In addition, the oil tasted a little overworked. Overall, I think this is a great little Chinese restaurant. There are some areas for improvement, but I enjoyed my meal a great deal. read more

I've been trying to find the words for some time to describe the food from this establishment. Let me preface by saying I grew up eating at some of the finest Chinese restaurants in San Francisco and the Bay Area. I've even been to the questionable 'Chinese American' establishments that are neither here no there. Ming Wah was just plain AWFUL. It was the WORST food I have EVER eaten. Worse than the worst cafeteria slop. Worse than food at a church potluck that you aren't quite sure what it is. It's just BAD, and I think might be in business because of the cool neon sign and because guests have never had good or real Chinese cuisine. We ordered 'egg rolls'. Typically they are deep fried to a crisp with a thin shell and fresh hot vegetables and filling inside. These were...the size of burritos, the consistency of a chimichanga shell with stuff inside that I could not identify. The stuff that was supposed to be 'meat'... I couldn't even make out what it was. Disgusting. The fried rice contained the same meat...unrecognizable filler. The only (what I would call barely edible) food was a dish with water chestnuts that tasted canned. The final dish I tried was Chow Mein. Mom was confused when they asked us if we want the noodles crispy or regular. Huh? Did they mean like Yakisoba noodles...like how it should be made? We ended up getting the 1950s canned stuff that has dry, crunchy noodles...that. It tasted like it came from a can. They gave us a whole bag of them. What a waste of 50.00 some odd dollars. As we were leaving (got food to go) a woman came out of the back and said to a waiting guest in an authoritarian tone 'you...sit here!' Yeah...no thank you!
