Located in between Browne's Addition and downtown Spokane. Truly one of the greatest Chinese restaurants in Spokane. Portions are HUGE and reasonably priced. I ordered their Sweet and Sour Chicken and the chicken was nicely coated with their delicious sweet and savory sauce while the meat remained nice and crispy. This was my 2nd time coming to this place and I have never eaten at a better Chinese food place in my life. I have lived and traveled all around the U.S. and Ming Wah by far has the very best Chinese food I have ever eaten. I had the orange chicken while my girlfriend had General Tso chicken and because we love rice we added on a pint of white rice for an extra $4. Words can't explain how delicious their food is and how reasonable prices are for the portion sizes they give you. The owner was very attentive and enjoyed talking to his customers and ensuring that everything was correct with their meal and even though we only had water to drink we were still treated like first class customers. What's the draw you ask? San Fransisco Style Chinese. Creamy crispy Almond Chicken, Fried Prawn, Chow Mein, Barbeque Pork slices with lovely yellow mustard so spicy that it makes my eyeballs sweat. Sweet and Sour Pork is my thing. And that pork... tender little cuts on the inside, covered in tempura goodness and deep fried to a perfect poppy crispness on the outside. Honestly could have been better. The food wasn't great. I got a four item combo and the only good thing was the fried rice. The sweet and sour chicken was OK, the almond chicken was not great, and the shrimp tempura came with regular cocktail sauce which I thought was a little weird. Also if you're going to milk covid and not be open for in person seating in June you should at least not forget to send utensils with to go orders. Price is on the high end. Until now, that has been acceptable, but, after Friday, I will be trying other places. It was very disappointing enough to get no sauce or its flavor on my dish, but that was topped off by the absence of that usual little pack of soy sauce to help out matters and no cookie. Seriously, not even a cookie? Seriously. That's pretty bad for an $18.00 dish that has always included both 'til now. My fortune tells me I will be trying a new restaurant next time. Mu shoo pork!!! This is our go to place for Mu Shoo pork and beef, it's just a quick trip from home and always delicious. The portion sizes are plentiful. We have eaten in the restaurant and it is always packed, rugs are very dirty and place looks run down. But that doesn't keep us from visiting or picking up to-go orders often The owners are very friendly in person and on the phone. Is Ming Wah Americanized Chinese food - sort of, they use products that are available here but keep the dishes closer to original than most places. * Do they use commercially prepared products - nope, all done in house. * Do they over salt their food like most faux American Chinese places do - nope. * Do they use goopy sweet sauces like most faux American Chinese places - nope. * Do they use lots of oil and grease to help build flavor like most faux American Chinese places - nope. People who are used to mall Chinese food, PF Changs, frozen Chinese entrees or any other place that uses sugar, salt and oil to excess will not like Ming Wah - however anyone who has actually been to the orient and tasted fresh food cooked with light amount of salt, sugar and oil will probably appreciate this place. I visited this location and based on other reviews was expecting much more. The staff was very rude and non attentive. The establishment was clean and prices where reasonable. However, the food was overdone and everything on the menu was deep-fried at least once. I ordered an egg roll, almond chicken, pork fried rice and hot and sour soup. The soup was about the only thing that was edible. As mentioned, everything was deep-fried. The egg roll was by far the worst, it had been cooked once, breaded a second time and fried a second time. I've gotten take-out two or thee times, and eaten inside once at this place. The interior is actually better looking than I would expect given its location (directly next to a sketchy gas station in the middle of a crumby part of downtown). Parking can be a pain if it is busy though. As far as the food goes, I really like the combo #4 (almond chicken, chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, and egg foo young). I have also subbed the regular chow mein for pan-fried noddles, and would recommend that. Their regular chicken chow mein seems really heavy on veggies. Not a lot of crunchy noodles of chicken. I think their almond chicken is delicious (don't know why other people seem to have issue with it?). It has been crispy and delicious every time I have had it. Also their egg foo young is great!
