We took the family to the China buffet in Cheney tonight. It brought back memories of Chinese buffets that we used to frequent when I was a child. I had forgotten all about them. The place is run down and kinda rough, but the food was good. It was clean tasting and had a lot of choices. It's nice to pick what and how much you want to eat. We had 2 toddlers with us so it was nice they had fruit and items we could choose for them. They have tubs if ice cream you can scoop your own bowl. That was fun. Since my attempted visit in July, I've been in twice. Both times I've been impressed with the food. Quality buffet selections and I can't decide on my favorite. As with any buffet, it's best to go when they are busy because the food is replenished frequently. No old stuff that's been sitting for too long. I had no trouble filling my ample belly with good Chinese/American selections. Service was lacking. One lady doing the dining area and one guy cooking. The buffet area is kept very clean, but the table we sat at was not so. Kinda sticky, whereas you don't want to put your silverware on it. I've never considered ordering take-out from their menu, but a craving to have take-out Egg Fu Yong had me giving them a call today. Total win! The first thing you notice when you walk into this restaurant is the long buffet table loaded with LOTS of choices! The second thing you'll notice is an extremely attentive waitress. They are quick to serve, and are always within holler distance as this place is pretty small. This building isn't the newest, but the conditions were SPOTLESS. I too am in the food service business and am always very picky about where I eat out. I have no hesitations about this place. The food was amazing, authentic, non-frozen product you'd expect from a buffet. You can tell the chef takes great pleasure in serving quality food. Lastly, the price. Love this place. It's older but they are so sweet. The chef watches the crowd and the table to see what needs to be replenished, it's a small town so traffic can vary. He makes quick fresh batches while you are there so food is usually pretty fresh. I haven't tried ordering off the menu yet but it's very extensive. The noodles and rice are VERY good. A lot of China buffets I've been too have the most bland noodles/rice and this is the best. I would like to see more variety from time to time which is why I gave it 4 stars. Reading and hearing mixed reviews of this place, and always being on the lookout for a good Chinese buffet, I wanted to give it a try. When I walked in I noticed the place was a little worn looking, but it was clean and smelled good. The buffet looked fresh and well stocked. I started out with a cup of hot and sour soup. I like it a bit spicier, but it had good flavor. They also had egg soup, but I didn't try it. I tried the Broccoli Beef, Low Mein, Kung Pao chicken, Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoons, and Mongolian Beef. It was all very good, but the Mongolian Beef was awesome. The Crab Rangoons were also very tasty. There was lots to choose from, including a salad bar and a desert bar. Included on the desert bar was a selection of ice cream, including huckleberry ice cream. Overall, the food was quite good, the service was friendly and unrushed, and priced really well ($8.50 for lunch.) I look forward to coming back again.
