This has been my absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego for a few years now. I was so happy to hear they were opening a new location in east county. Every meal I have ordered has been fresh, clean, and delicious. On top of that, the customer service is stellar. Cant believe how big the small bowl is and lotsa meat in it and good amt of noodles.. id say half half .actually more meat onions cilantro etc...unlike other places where they throw in 2/3 bowl of noodles and little of meat. Eggroll is long, fresh and tastes great.. Servers are very nice, friendly and fast. They check up on us few times. They are very respectul also. Menu selection is a variety .. lots of food to try. Price not too bad for what you get not too expensive unlike the others. We always had come here, even previous owners we like but i like this even more. Delish!! So glad another pho place came to Santee, this place is far superior to other places near by! The noodles are not soggy and the broth is not diluted at all like I've experienced at Pho Ca Dao. Everything is so fresh, flavorful, and they have a nice selection of veggies and spices to add to your pho. They've always been busy when I've come so they must be doing something right! I don't even know where to start. Best Pho restaurant you will ever dine at and that's a guarantee , these are the reasons why. Let's start with the customer service , it was amazing. 2 other families in this crib started to argue and fight. Staff took care of this with ease. My boy in the picture took them down and solved it in a great manner. When we were getting served by him he was very polite and always had a beautiful smile on his shiny face. Now the food, the food was AMAZING!! The number 1 pho combo was delicious. Best tasting pho I have ever had with many different meat and veggie options to put in. My family also ordered orange chicken with fried rice. This was also great, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the orange sauce was a perfect sweetness. The rice was debatably one of the best fried rice dishes I have ever had. Next we ordered a portion of beef and broccoli. The beef was marinated very nicely. I went to Pho Van for the first time with seven fellow photographers on May 20 after a tour of the nearby Taylor Guitar Factory. I thought it would be good place to go because it would be quick, it is nearby and the ratings were very good. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall and because it on a corner and has more lighting inside. The decor is modern, neutral and tasteful. Seating is comfortable and restaurant and restroom were clean. Even though the restaurant only had three other occupied tables, the service was painfully slow, especially for a Pho place. It took ten minutes to place the order and twenty more for the food to begin arriving. Half an hour is much too long to wait for a Pho! I ordered a cautiously, a Pho Tai (Rare Steak). Interestingly a small costs $7.66 and a large $8.14, a difference of 46 cents. Small and large Pho are served in the same bowl, the difference is how much they fill the bowl. This is as arbitrary as the prices they selected. As for the Pho, it was very good. A rich broth, fresh tasting with a nice balance of spices with none dominating. Not too fatty with a clean aftertaste. Beef was lean and not chewy and the noodles were done well. Not the best Pho I've had in San Diego, but definitely among the top ten I've tried. I also got Charbroiled Pork Rolls to go, which were just ok in taste with not too much meat. As for my fellow diners, no complaints. Everybody thought it was quite good. They were also good about splitting the check for us. I think four stars is very fair as the food was good, but not great. It's the slow service where their problem lies. To be fair I will return again some time to give Pho Van another try. read more

I had, I think the brisket and steak pho and the broth was top notch, better than Pho Ca Dao which is where I usually go in East County. My husband had the beef and shrimp vermicelli. We also shared egg rolls (which were also good) and spring rolls (which for some reason were not very good). We've had good experience dining in, so it was a complete shock when our order was so messed up with takeout. We ordered 4 meals and only 2 were correct. They completely forgot the #6 we ordered and had replaced it with something different entirely, there was shrimp in the dish. They also insisted that the number 76 (without squid) we ordered was correct. But the menu says it shrimp squid pork chicken And vegetable over pan fried rice noodle. The dish we received still had squid, and had imitation crab, so I really do not believe this was the correct order at all, if it was the correct dish it still had the squid we did not want. Ended up trying the dish and trashing it soon after. VERY disappointed. The vermicelli dish and spring rolls were correct but half of the order, the wrappers were not fully cooked and very hard. Learned our lesson to never order take out again and probably never return for dine in either. read more

I was in the area and feeling for some pho, so I decided to try the newly opened Pho Van. As I looked through the menu, my stomach changed my craving for pho to chow mein. The pho here was half off, which was a special for their opening. I also ordered spring rolls and Thai tea. The chow mein had good flavour, the amount of meats they mixed with the noodles and vegetables were very generous. The spring rolls, you can tell was super fresh and were such big pieces as well. The Thai tea with wasn't my favourite thing but lucky for them, I'm not holding it against them since they aren't a Thai restaurant. The gentleman who greeted, seated and took our order I believe is the owner. He was very personable, even offered his help in deciding what we wanted. Yes, the food is good, the pho is full of flavor but I want to give love to the service here. The man who I believe runs the restaurant is the best! He sometimes is at their El Cajon Blvd location but I'm so happy to see him when he's there. He remembers what my son likes (calls him Mr. Grilled Chicken ) and is so kind to my daughter.
