What a disappointment. I have had pho at many different restaurants and this was by far my least favorite. With a name like pho valley, I expected them to have various styles of pho but they do not have any meat options. This pho contains meatballs and thinly sliced beef. The meatballs were rubbery and were not eaten by anyone. The beef was almost all fat. The broth was bland, the toppings were scarce, the meat was already cooked in the broth and to go container (typically it's raw and you cook it in your broth), and the meatballs were...suspicious. Maybe the restaurant had an off day. Maybe my expectations were high since a colleague recommended the establishment. But pho I had was worse than store-bought, pre-packaged products (definitely the worst I've had at a restaurant). Broth lacked flavor; minimal content (bean sprouts, noodles and protein); and no Thai basil. How can a restaurant serve pho without Thai basil? To top it all off, it cost $15+ per bowl. Save yourself some money and get a box of pre-packaged pho at Costco or Sam's. It'll be just as good. read more

Pho Valley is a must try restaraunt in Monongahela. Their pho noodle bowl is delicious! I can't wait to try other items on the menu. The owner is very friendly! When he brought out the pho to the table he explained how different sauces, lime, and slices of jalapeño (optional) can be added to the broth to alter the taste to your liking. I have come here several times. Their Pho is the best I have ever had and I am from the DC/VA area and would get this at least once a month there. I hope nothing changes as it is great also in the winter-time. I am a veggie lover. Wish to have as much as I can get of this if this is my only meal for the day.. We stopped in for lunch and the waiter/owner spoke with us- asked our likes/dislikes, what was popular, and what the difference in their food compared to other nationalities (not in a disparaging way- just the differences) We ordered different plates, which was A LOT of food (which the waiter did warn us) We inquired what the Tea was- he explained it was a bubble tea and went thru each ingredient- he actually gave both of us a glass each of the tea, complimentary, and it was fantastic! Oh wow! My daughter surprised me with takeout from Pho Valley. What an amazing treat! We started off with the pho. This was my first time eating this delicious soup. Second course was fresh spring rolls. I've never seen meat in a spring roll. Surprisingly, It was also scrumptious. Next we had the fried spring rolls;Also yummy! From there we moved on to the chicken bahn mi. I wish she wouldn't of told me it was chicken. I would have never known it wasn't beef or pork. It was a really really delicious. A sandwich made with cucumbers and cilantro. And finally we finished the meal off with B11, A salad of rice noodles, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce or cabbage, marinated meat, and an amazing sauce! Love this place! Food is consistently delicious. The depth of flavor in their pho broth is just incredible. We usually eat at least half of the bowl before adding sriracha and hoisin because it's just that good. Aside from the pho, we always get their chicken wings, fried egg rolls, and fresh spring rolls with pork and shrimp. Everything is made with care and is always delicious. The chicken wings are well seasoned, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The egg rolls are the thin ones with chopped up pork, mushrooms, and other veggies and noodles inside. They aren't the thick, greasy, bland ones you get at most local Asian restaurants. We also really like their fried rice dishes. I haven't tried the Bun Thit Nuong but my dad raves about it all night when we took him here. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. It's a very unique and delicious find in this area. The family that owns it is very welcoming and friendly and the service and food quality is always excellent. We have frequented this restaurant for a few years since they opened and drive almost 30 minutes to get here while always leaving satisfied. read more

Of all the places I have been to for Thai, Vietnamese or generally fresh deliciousness, this place is hands down my favorite. Everything is fresh made - the hand made spring rolls are the perfect balance, the peanut sauce is wicked. The crispy spring roll deserves an award for how many I want to shovel in my face! I really hate that this was such a bad food experience because I really wish for great places to eat near here, but this place was just awful. The food was totally inedible and ended up down the garbage disposal. The fried rice was bland and tasteless. The Pho broth was lackluster and I'm not even sure what type of meat there was in the Pho, too strange looking for me to even bite into it. The menu is very small not many choices. This is an excellent pho place. The pho is authentic with a great taste. The owner came over and thanked me personally for coming in and asked my opinion on the soup which I thought was very nice. Although they are a relatively new business and only have small menu, the food is excellent. My girlfriend and I visited here this evening for dinner, and boy was it absolutely amazing. We love Vietnamese pho, and have eaten it all over the country - but this place absolutely takes the cake - and it's in our backyard to boot! The broth was so crisp and clean tasting, incredibly refreshing and tasty. The neat melted on our mouth, and we slurped up the bowl to the last drop. I could quite possibly eat here every day of my life. Vietnamese food is so refreshing and comforting, and you will not be disappointed if you're looking to try something new. The monongahela area is honestly blessed to have this place. I highly recommend the egg rolls (they are fried so crispy and delicious) or the spring rolls (the traditional, fresh kind (not to be mistaken for the "Chinese" version of a spring roll)). The pho is insane and so comforting. My absolute favorite thing is the bun thit nuong (B11). The meat is so sweet and delicious with the sweet oil you can pour over it and the vermicelli noodles are so refreshing. Just go nuts and try all kinds of things, you won't regret it :) To those who would complain about the price, if you want quality food you pay for it. If you think Chinese buffet food is comparable then there is no hope for you. read more

This is my first visit. I was excited for a Vietnamese restaurant to open in the Mon Valley. I came in on a Saturday around 12:30pm and dined in. I ordered beef fried rice and egg rolls. The food was delicious, hot and made fresh when I ordered. The owner brought it to me and explained what the sauces were. He was very friendly. The fried rice comes with a side of fish sauce. It was delicious on the rice and I dipped my egg rolls in it as well. Next time I will order indicating I'd like the food more spicy. The menu is small with only about 10 items. The prices do seem high for what you get. The beef fried rice was $10.95 and the portion size wasn't that generous considering rice isn't a terribly expensive staple. Also all of the drinks are bottled or canned soft drinks. A can of pop is $2.00. When I ordered water, I was only offered bottled water ($1.25) not tap water. I'll come back to try the Pho soup because I love Pho, but if the price structure stays the same, I won't visit as often as I'd hoped to do. If it weren't for the prices I'd give it four stars. read more

Next time I'll probably go in the evening for their dinner menu and ask for my food to be spicier. My only complaint is that the prices were a bit high. Outstanding staff, ownership, and food. A plate is ~$11..... which one should probably expect when you're eating at the only restaurant of it's likeness in a 60 mi. stretch.
