So this place is in an old Pizza Hut that has been repurposed into a Vietnamese restaurant. The ambience is peaceful with colorful lanterns hanging from the ceiling. I was impressed firstly with my waitress because she was absolutely on point, knowledgeable about the food, product, and engaging. Believe me when I say that I have yet to come across another waitress with her kind of skills! For myself, I ordered the lunch special, which is half of a bahn mi and a small pho. They closed in an hour and still served us hot, fresh food without any issues. Got the Chicken Bún and it was delicious. Fresh and flavorful. I could eat my weight in those spring rolls. Also had the dumplings (not pictured) and they had a good ratio of meat to dumpling. Very fresh. Everything was hot and service was fast and friendly. The inside was small, clean, and cozy. In addition to my pho I ordered some ice tea and it tasted like mold. I Spent 60 plus dollars on take out a few nights before and gave a tip and then had this dinner and the server told me the other table had ice tea and they liked it. Guess what ? After a long wait we finally stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. This restaurant had a lot of publicity and hype so maybe I was expecting more from it. Previously we tried to eat there and had such a long wait, we went to our favorite Thai restaurant instead, and it was as good as always. I know Vietnamese and Thai are different cuisines but I found myself comparing this place to Rassame's. It fell short in my opinion . We both had the chicken bun and although it was good and healthy tasting, it needed the additional kick of the sriracha sauce on the table. However the bubble tea was really delicious. We had mango green tea with peach bubbles. I'd order that again! Probably not the chicken bun with lemon grass. Our server was very nice and explained things to us. The decor was nice, they did the best they could transforming an old Pizza Hut interior. I'll give it another shot. Next time I'll try pho or a bahn mi sandwich. read more

The pho was horrible, probably the worst pho I have ever had. As soon as I got the pho, looking at the broth I knew it was not authentic. The broth was dark, and had kinda like a teriyaki sweet flavor, WTF. The owner needs to go to Pho 75 in fall church va for some pointers on the gold standard. I have been to 100s of pho restaurants and this was hands down the worst. All the ingredients were there except the beef bone broth, and spices. So disappointing, they asked me how it was and I did not have the heart to tell them the truth. The service was good. Btw, the pork in the summer rolls was too salty too and the peanut sauce had no peanuts in it. Bottom line the atmosphere was good and the service was good but the food horrible. read more

I recently found out about this establishment while looking for new restaurants to dine at. My boyfriend and I decided to give this a try. First of all, this business is very easy to miss because they do not have any signs or logos on the building itself. From the outside it looks like a generic one story building, but upon entering I was taken aback by how lovely it is in there. The dining area is quaint but it is not claustrophobic. The music and decor is a good vibe and the staff was nice! For starters, I ordered the taro milk tea with tapioca pearls and my boyfriend ordered the strawberry bubble tea with kiwi flavored popping bubbles. While my boyfriend absolutely enjoyed his drink, I have to say I was a bit disappointed with my milk tea. It tasted very watered down and the tapioca pearls were not cooked through. The outside was soft and delicious, but the inside was hard and crunchy. For appetizers we ordered steamed edamame which was perfectly seasoned, hot and very fresh!! For our main course, my boyfriend ordered the grilled chicken banh mi and I had the grilled pork banh mi. Both were extremely flavorful, comforting, and addicting! One of the best sandwiches around! The pork and chicken we're cooked perfectly. All in all, I do recommend this location for those who are looking for something unique and different to eat. While my milk tea was less than average, everything else blew me away and for that reason, I am giving The Vietnamese Kitchen 4 stars. read more

I'm so excited we have a Vietnamese restaurant out this way! I've visited Vietnamese Kitchen several times. Every single time I've ordered one of the variations of pho. The base broth is tasty and the ingredients are plentiful. I think my favorite menu item I've tried is the ban me. The bread was crispy and the filling was packed with flavor. The one down side is that it is expensive. Summer rolls are one of my favorite menu items but they are $8 (so $4 each). I'd expect them to be bigger got that price. read more

I was so glad to see something other than Italian in Westmoreland County, especially Vietnamese food, something we consistently go to Pittsburgh to get. We've given this restaurant a fair shot - three of them actually. The broth is incredibly sweet, almost as if it's been made with bouillon and then sweetened. It's also cloudy which is a red flag for anyone who knows authentic pho. We were dying for this place to be good and sadly, it falls incredibly short. read more

This new local cultural delight has brightened the food scene for Greensburg. The owner and her family are making some great traditional Vietnamese cuisine. They are located in the old Pizza Hut building close to Olive Garden for those locals who are wondering. I enjoyed their fresh spring rolls and a pork Bahn Mi (AWESOME). As they are new they appear to be working through the challenge associated with making great food quickly. Our time in booth was over 80 minutes with most of that waiting for food. I do not understand how they don't have 5 stars when this has been the best Pho we have had. I am originally from Houston and don't get me wrong there is pho restaurants here yet sometimes they are a hit or miss. This pho had everything just right not a lot of onions and their broth didn't taste so much like beef powder it tasted just right in simple words. Their spring rolls were really good too. If I were to go to Greensburg, PA again this would be the first place I'll go to. I tried other pho places in PA and this was by far the best. I finally got to try a few days ago. It was extremely quiet and kind of uncomfortable even with a few diners. The pho was ok. The rare steak was of great quality; however, the actual soup broth fell short of my pho standards. I never order soda out anymore.. kinda disappointed it was a 20 oz bottle. I would definitely try it again.. I would choose a different dish. The server was satisfactory. I love how the yelp says "no dogs allowed." 4.5 stars for the food. Not the best I've had - but the best in Greensburg area by phar. Broccoli and chicken was very good. If your a smoker (which I am not) you will love this place. Everything we had was jam packed with amazing flavors. Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that the pho didn't have a hefty bone feel to it. Seemed rushed for sure. BUT VERY GOOD nonetheless. Al food tasted fresh and the cuts were nice. No holding back with the knife on prep here. The bahn mi was also pretty decent. 4 stars (loss of 1 star because the bread was just a normal sub roll - not extremely authentic - although very very good!!!) If you want authentic Vietnamese food, please do NOT eat here. I had the rice noodle bowl. The noodles were not cooked all the way through still al dente. They gave me soy sauce instead of fish sauce and there were no cucumbers or carrots or peanuts on top! My friend had the wantons and she said they tasted freezer burnt. The old lady in the kitchen kept giving me and my friend dirty looks. The whole experience was not good. When the parking lot is empty I guess that's a good sign. read more

Her and I love to try new foods and after trying the delicious crab wantons we both had Bun for the first time and it was a 10/10. She got the shrimp Bun and I the pork and shrimp Bun. Had a fantastic meal at The Vietnamese Kitchen tonight!!! The food was amazing!!! We had the beef brisket Pho which if you've never had it is a huge bowl of noodle soup with amazing flavor!! We also had a grilled pork Bahn Mi sandwich which was incredible!! We also had the steamed pork dumplings which were the best I've ever had!!! The service was fast and friendly. We were excited to learn we finally had a pho restaurant reasonably close to home. Took us too long to finally go, but the wait was well worth it! We were the first through the door on a Monday, and the lack of a lunch crowd raised some suspicions. Then I remembered there is often a lull in restaurants on Mondays (thus why some are closed on Mondays). Anywho, the spring roll appetizer was great (as was the peanut sauce), and the pho (mine-chicken; hers-beef meatball) was absolutely awesome! The server was very quite friendly and attentive. The unique ethnic music was enjoyable, but the restaurant (and parking lot) atmosphere will hopefully be upgraded as the business continues to excel (the reason for only four stars). The Edamame was great and the chicken skewers were wonderful then it all went downhill. We arrived around six o'clock and waited awhile for our appetizers. Then 1 1/2 hours later we got our food! We were told that the kitchen was backed up. But people at other tables were getting their food and paying the bill! We saw lots of takeout order's flying out the door. We we're ready to leave when our food arrived. They apologized saying they were swamped. Take care of your in house guests first. Excellent!! I just moved back from CA and was missing pho and Banh mi, wishing there was a place near where I live. I was SO HAPPY this place opened up! They have amazing pho, spring rolls, bun (vermicelli noodles). This is all I've tried so far and all of it has been fresh and delicious. I've never dined in but have placed numerous pick up orders. My absolute favorite is the pork banh mi. The sauce is everything. My only qualm is that one is never enough!! Next time I may order two. I have also tried their crab wontons as well as their vermicelli noodles. My toddler LOVES the vermicelli noodles. I'm not too fond of pho but I am not the person to take that recommendation from.
