I used to live in Morgantown years ago this was my Go to spot once a week. I came by and was completely appalled by the service. I asked for no tripe in my Pho (cow stomach and one of the lost omitted items in any pho place) the guy asked what is that I said cow stomach he said what is that and then held his nose up high to me. The "large" pho seemed to be a regular portion in a bigger bowl, the brisket felt more backyard‑BBQ than Vietnamese, and the banh mi as part of a pho combo was essentially a hoagie stuffed with the same brisket. This place is great for pho. Haven't had it in a long time, but doesn't seem to have changed much. The dine in experience is actually set up really nice once you get the hang of it. You just order your food at kiosk, grab a table, and have a self serve bar for all the pho fixings (basil, cilantro, sprouts, sauces, etc). They have all the takeout containers sitting out so you can box up your leftover pho and make a container of extras to take home for another meal. I'm a big fan of the self service. No it's not the cleanest, I wouldn't go there looking for the cleanest bathroom in the world. But if you want a great, simple, affordable meal it's great. Highly recommend. read more

I am writing to express my significant dissatisfaction with the pho I received. The noodles were considerably overcooked, and the broth presented as cloudy, dense, and overly sweet, which was visually unappealing. Even after incorporating the accompanying vegetables and aromatics, the broth's quality remained unacceptable. Furthermore, the meatballs, as they were described, appeared to be over-microwaved, processed spherical items of indeterminate origin. I have eaten pho on the east coast, the west coast, midwest, and even in the south. This is NOT pho. Save your money. Can someone please help me to find the real pho. Noel and I went to another Vietnamese restaurant but it was closed so I was able to locate this restaurant via Yelp App. It was only about 5 miles from where we were but unfortunately back to near where we started. Located near the hospital complex. The parking lot was empty so we thought this one was closed too...but thank goodness they were open. We went inside where they had examples of the bowl sizes on display along with menus. The instructions said to find a table that was available and turn our display to show taken. To figure out what we wanted, then go to kiosk place order and pay. They will bring our food out. Everything was pretty self explanatory. Is this the way it's done overseas? Noel and I both chose Beef Pho, shared some spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce and I got a unsweetened bottled tea and Noel went with a Strawberry Bubble Tea with a milk based flavoring. It was a jelly textured bubble in her drink, too sweet for me. We went to salad bar and got our Cilantro, Thai basil, spices, bean sprouts and jalapenos. This was to put in our medium bowls of Pho. The food was very good. I'm still trying to learn how to use chopsticks. The fried garlic spice was good. The Pho was amazing and we had plenty to take home as leftovers but the spring rolls were horrible. The wrappers were like a rubbery covering, very thick and rubbery. I couldn't handle the texture of it. So, I broke it open and put into my Pho bowl. The food was good enough to go back again. I definitely want to try the Banh Mi sandwich, especially the grilled on!!! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for some great Pho. Came with the wife for an early lunch as we were passing through Morgantown. We are both foodies, especially when it comes to Vietnamese food, so keep that in mind when reading this review. We've lived in a couple of large metro areas with great Vietnamese food (SF bay area, southern California, Washington DC). This is not on that level. But given its location in WV, I had pretty low expectations which were not exceeded in the slightest. Wife ordered pho on the touchscreen, and I ordered bun bo xao (rice noodles with stir-fried beef). Noticed while ordering on the touchscreen that the description of the bun bo xao said it was pork, which is really weird. Didn't know whether I'd end up with beef or pork, but decided to just take a chance since I'd like either one if it were well prepared! We sat down at our chosen table and wifey found the booth seating to be uncomfortable, but when we switched to a different table the booth there was also uncomfortable so we just went with it. Wife said her pho tasted fine but was missing the normal aromas that come from pho broth. The broth was probably missing a spice or two. The way the beef slices were cut was not thin enough. She did like that she was able to help herself to the herbs. My bun bo xao was... acceptable, I suppose, given my low expectations. The beef chunks were also cut too thick and there was just something a bit "off" about the flavor. The dish was also served with a Chinese egg roll. It's a safe bet that when a so-called Vietnamese restaurant serves Chinese egg rolls it's probably owned/operated by Chinese rather than Vietnamese. A dish like bun bo xao might come with a Vietnamese style spring roll (cha gio) but would never be served with a large, thick Chinese style egg roll. The price was fine, and we were hungry so we gobbled it up. It's funny to me that the other reviews here are averaging 4 stars but it goes to show that our experiences are all subjective and relative. (Or maybe my wife and I just ordered the "wrong" things, although the restaurant literally has Pho in the name.) If you come hungry and don't make the mistake of thinking you're getting authentic Vietnamese food, you might not be disappointed. read more

Ordered takeout from here last time I was in Morgantown for myself and a friend and we had a little picnic. The chicken bahn mi was good. I was interested in the fusion of the different cuisines, but it kind of fell short, IMO. The chicken tacos were bland, nothing special. The pad thai was alright but had literally no vegetables in it at all. The pork buns were the best thing we ate by far. There is also NO customer service. I walked in what I think was the wrong door and was confused. There were no employees on the floor even though there were customers dining inside. I'm Vietnamese and I have to say, this place doesn't do Vietnamese food justice. It doesn't seem to be owned by a Vietnamese person. I tried the phở here and it tastes 100 miles away from what phở should taste like. My husband was excited about the bún chả hà nội bc that's his fave dish, just to be disappointed by the underwhelming bún thịt nướng that they brought him. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately the food quality has gone down. We typically get the vermicelli bowls with pork rolls. On the plus side, the bowls were large and had some delicious veggies in it as well as a decent amount of protein. There's always enough for leftovers. Unfortunately, the noodles had changed from vermicelli to something more akin to spaghetti. They had a heavier, gooey texture. They were still okay, but not nearly as tasty as the vermicelli used in the past. They were nasty upon reheating them to the point where I just threw them out. The pork rolls also changed, which was disappointing as my entire family loved the old ones. The new ones were average at best. We could have bought the same quality in the freezer section of the grocery store. The house sauce is still a tasty and lovely addition, but it seems that we get smaller and smaller portions with each visit. I get it... COVID made surviving as a restaurant difficult, and the cost of ingredients and operating expenses have really gone up. This was good. So first off, you find a table and order by kiosk. Which I found a little intimidating. But, it really nice because you can see a photo of each item and that's really helpful for someone who is not as familiar with Vietnamese cuisine. The pho is so good. They have a "salad" bar area where you can grab, basil, green onions, cilantro, bean sprouts, etc. and add them to your pho. And the service is really fast. While we liked the tempura shrimp, there weren't many of them and they seemed over fried. The spring rolls weren't to our liking, but that may be a personal preference thing. But the pho. Ordering system is a little wonky given that it is all done on computer when you first enter the door but fun. You pick your own seat and then bring the table number back to the ordering computer. I love Vietnamese food so I was very excited to see that there was a restaurant with such high reviews here in Morgantown so I decided to give it a try. While the portions were very generous, probably the biggest bowl of vermicelli noodles I have ever had, I thought that the flavor profiles were off. I started with fresh spring rolls. The peanut sauce was not like I am used to. It was very thin and I thought it tasted like cooked oil instead of peanut sauce. I got some ground peanuts from the self-service condiment area and added them to the sauce, but it still was not enough to make we want to finish the dish. I left one of the two rolls because it just did not taste right. For my entree, I had the grilled pork vermicelli bowl. The pork was ok, but was not grilled in the normal way, while it was fully cooked and had been marinated, it was missing some of the normal caramelization that is on the meat. There were lots of vegetables and the noodles were served warm under the veggies. The oddest thing is that the fried spring roll in the bowl was made with an egg roll wrapper so it did not have the same light crispness that I am used to. I ended up leaving a lot of my food uneaten and I would not recommend the vermicelli roll or the fresh spring rolls here. read more

Three stars means that I will definitely be back as this one is a lot closer to my house then HUNG pho. I really wanted to give them four stars because my husband brought home a delicious chicken Bin Mi sandwich the other day and it was really really good. However as the Gilbert I can't get four stars based on the sandwich brought to the house so we packed up on Thursday and went and had dinner. I think the kiosk set up is a little impersonal and honestly that Dinged them a little bit for me. It makes me wonder if they are equipped to handle orders if those kiosk go down. The men in the back who cook to stop by and ask if everything is OK although I wonder if they could really do anything to fix what may or may not be OK. I don't think the kitchen area is dirty but I also don't like that you can see right into it and the boxes and all that are in the back I think that should be closed off. The pho, having pho on the other side of town I was really disappointed in the pho at this place it was decent yes and filling. However they do not give you enough pho is typically a filling meal. I didn't have much noodles at all. The bowls are very cool. Like I said close to my house, but if I can I will most likely stick to West over pho Hung. read more

Mixed review here. Their fresh shrimp spring rolls were the worst I've ever had hands down. Same as no fill inside and triple wrapped in the rice paper. They had one shrimp in them that was cut in half. Pretty sad excuse. The deluxe pho had about the best sized portion of all the meats. They made up for the spring roll with the pho meat portion. Taste was meh. Not much flavor until you doctor it up quite a bit. Not the best quality of meat that I've had in pho but damn sure didn't leave hungry. I'd say a solid 3.5 stars. Would be 5 with proper fresh spring rolls and a more flavorful broth. I also got their hottest spice level and it had as much spice as black pepper. But again. This is the most meat I've ever had in pho without ordering extra. Great job there. But just needs more flavor. Temp was also pretty cool and wished it was warmer. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the restrooms are not well taken care of. They are usable but could definitely use a redo and regular cleaning. This is a great casual restaurant with quick service. We go to Morgantown just to eat here. Ordering is easy through the kiosks. Our group of five orders three different kinds of Pho, spring rolls, drunken chicken noodles and one person always orders something different. We have never been disappointed. I consider myself to be a pho connoisseur (there, I said it), having lived in many different parts of the country and relying on pho as my comfort food. I might even be a bit of a pho snob, having grown up in California and knowing that CA pho is simply... the best. But this place... might be one of my top choices from here on out-- because of the price point and variety! For $10, you can get a combo dish of pho + banh mi. You just don't see prices like that anywhere else! The fresh veggies are also buffet-style and this is a do-it-yourself joint where you order electronically at a kiosk, grab your own drink based on the honor system, and decide what and how much veggies you want to get. I LOVE the self-serve format for many reasons: 1. I get to take as many lime wedges as I want because I like my pho pretty limed up! Same goes for jalapeños. 2. I can put mint in my water and literally enjoy a fresh mint tea with my meal. 3. The self-serve format is such an efficient use of manpower. This means 2 things: first, I don't have to tip, which means I save money, and secondly, the staff don't have to rely on tip, and are hopefully getting a more stable salary. Anyways, you get great bang for your buck here, and I will definitely be back to try out more options. Ordered for takeout. We had the Beef Brisket Pho (medium spicy) and the Steak Pho (mild spicy). They were both great and we got huge portions. Like a quart container of each. We ate from mixing bowls lol We ordered raw noodles, since we had never gotten pho as takeout and we didn't want them to be too soggy. You put the noodles and broth together in a pan on the stove to soften the noodles. It was super quick and easy. The pho was flavorful and a great change up from our normal rotation. I loved the fresh scallions and the crunchy spicy topping we got on the side. I would definitely recommend and we will surely be going back. read more

Was just driving through and wanted some Pho. This was an excellent find in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. There was no line at 5pm on a Friday. They have a really interesting concept for their ordering - of you haven't been before, check out the menu for instructions. We got 2 large bowls of pho (brisket and round eye), though medium bowls would have been plenty. The broth was delicious and the meat tender - more so the brisket. They have a toppings bar with sprouts, basil, etc to add to your bowls. Got the dumplings as well - these could have been a little bigger for the price. I love traveling to new cities and finding new Pho restaurants and this place did not disappoint! I got the fresh shrimp summer roll appetizer, beef brisket pho soup, and a bubble tea. Although it was less crunchy and had a more runny consistency, the peanut dipping sauce for the shrimp rolls was great! They were a little skimpy on the shrimp and consisted mostly of the vegetables and the rice paper that was extremely thick but still tasted great. Since the shrimp was so scarce, I probably wouldn't order again. The beef brisket pho was AMAZING. I got the large dinner portion and truly underestimated the portion size- I have never received SO much meat at any other restaurant (the broth and vermicelli noodles were plentiful as well). You will likely have plenty leftover. I also really enjoyed the self- serve salad bar station. I prefer a lot of jalapeño and lime to flavor my broth so being able to control the amount of the extras was awesome. As for the bubble tea, it was a bit sweet for me but they ask you for your sweetness level and I selected the 100% full sweet option so I'm assuming it was my own fault.
