Finally tried this restaurant after hearing about it for years, and it did not disappoint. I had the bánh xèo which was nice and crisp on the outside. Food was mediocre. Bland beyond all reason but had an off after taste as well. The most concerning thing was the filth and mildew and black dirt on the floors near the entrance to the bathrooms, (Which had an Out of Order sign on it but was open?) filth and mildew and black dirt on the bathroom sink and on the door knobs and door. There are also supplies within 5 feet of the bathroom doors, utensils, napkins, dry goods. This cannot be up to code. GROSS! It was the most disgusting restaurant experience I've encountered in a long time. I was horrified and afraid to eat the food I had ordered. After a couple bites and the dirt tasting broth water, I left. I can only imagine how filthy and unsanitary and dangerous their kitchen is. Never again. The food was great. The pho tai is very flavorful and rich. The eggroll was delicious, and it came with the lettuce and mint leaves, along with the marinated fish sauce. The BBQ banh mi was tasty. They definitely do not skimp on meat. The portions are generous. A yelper's review made a comment that this restaurant is owned by the same family who also run Da Vang restaurant in the phoenix/alhambra region. I can absolutely 100% verify that this menu is the literally the same as the other restaurant Da Vang! 1. The restaurant is absolutely huge. Oh, this was nice. Enough to satisfy the Vietnamese craving I had, but also the one I didn't realize I had. The pho was wonderful. Fragrant broth, not too heavy on the onions, with plenty of beef and brisket without too much fat on the pieces. Summer rolls were divine. I thought we were going to miss the peanut sauce but what they brought out for dipping instead was very good too. They have a pretty extensive menu: com, bun, pho, and even banh mis. My family and I love this place, I would give it 5 stars but unfortunately I notice something today that disappointed me. We were the first table before lunch rush and an older gentleman that was our server was so rude just towards my family. He threw the menus to us and talked to us with attitude. This is obviously not my first time going and I always thought that was his normal personality ‍ but after we order other people started coming in and his attitude completely changed. I don't know why he would be like that with us I would hate to think it's because we're gay. Pho Thuan Thanh is a cookie cutter pho place, but that's what makes it so good. They know what they're doing and they're skilled at it- the pho is delicious and reasonably priced. You're seated and served very quickly, but left pretty well alone while you're eating. The place is clean and there are TVs on the wall to watch during your meal. It's comparable to Da Vang in Phoenix, but without the drive to the heart of Arizona. read more

I had my favorite beef stew wide noodles, which is my favorite item at DaVang on 19th Ave, south of Camelback. Well, the beef stew here is not nearly as tasty as Da Vangs, so I am giving 3 stars. Service is nothing remarkable to deserve more than 3 stars either. They don't keep track of who ordered what, they just holler what it is and you have to claim it. Fellow sitting next to me ordered lemon grass chicken cos he likes lemon grass. Here is picture below. The key to figuring out quality at a Vietnamese restaurant is the fish sauce. Most are too dark or too water downed. This place has it right. So you know it is going to be good. I have enjoyed their rice and vermicelli dishes. 39 is my favorite. Pho is good too. My friend enjoyed their crepes, number 70. One day I will have to try their bun Bo hue. It is a traditional middle Vietnamese dish and sometimes hard to make. The place is somewhat tucked away in the shopping center but it is worth the extra time. read more

Menu price is lower than other Vietnamese restaurants in the neighborhood. When I read a review here about tasting like a soap, I didn't get it until I went there for myself. It was spoon. They soak their soup spoon in detergent with bleach. I tried a couple of spoons but all had that aftertaste of bleach. Great food, great prices! My boyfriend and I have become regulars here. Everything we've ordered has been delicious and have had no complaints. I can't say that the service is the best, but it's very forgivable. I don't think they have traditional waiters here, but you will see staff doing their best, working hard, and running around keeping people happy. Definitely gives a family-ran, small business vibe. My friends recommended this place as the price was dirt cheap but they've raised it 40-50% now. When we arrived, we were greeted by a young guy who seemed new and a bit lost. I asked him if our food had msg and he handed off his notepad us to an older lady to take our order. We ordered a few rice plates, catfish soup and bun rieu to share. The bun rieu was very simple and it didn't have crab meat. It had a piece of fatty pork bone but it wasn't edible, and the only things I ate in the bowl was the pork blood and char siu. The catfish soup was huge and it came with a giant bowl of rice which we didn't bother eating. It had pineapple, okra and some Asian veggies in it. It was mostly sweet and tangy in a good way. The rice plates were huge, the proteins were all pretty sweet, probably marinated in sugar and msg. On our way home we felt extremely thirsty and tired. I'm pretty sure they put a ton of MSG in their food. When we got home shortly after we felt bloated, tired and a headache. read more

As you can probably tell, the food and the menu is very similar to Da Vang. Everything is delicious and ingredients are fresh. The broth in the pho is amazing. Probably my new go to Pho place. Pretty close to where I'm living. Definitely the best price that I have seen in awhile. Regular bowl, they only have one size, of pho tai for only $6. You can get additional noodles for a dollar more. You can also get more beef if you wanted for i think one or two dollars. Overall, this price is unbeatable for this time and age. With regards to the broth, I would say it is it has a more clean, not as thick, and less oily, compared to other places, taste to it. Definitely not broth medicine bag made. Usual being sprout, lime, jalapeno like all the other places. No issues there. Bonus point that have the hot chili that I like and not just the usual sriracha. Inside has pretty good seating, lots of tables. Easy parking lot outside. Service is pretty fast. Place is pretty clean. Would definitely recommend everybody to come check it out. They didn't give any fish balls and when I told them about the issue they went to the back and said I was being difficult and I just don't want to pay for extra seafood(they didn't know I'm Vietnamese). The guy in the back said he "I gave 6 shrimps and 4 squids what more do she want" but there was only 4 shrimp and 3 squid's. I also told them about the amount in the bowl and they kept making it about me not wanting to pay more for extra seafood. I have no problem paying extra if they actually gave me a decent amount in the first place for ordering a XL Seafood pho. After hearing that I didn't want to continue repeating myself so I let it be. This is my favorite Vietnamese place near me. It's simple and cheap, how Vietnamese food should be in my opinion. It has the basic recipes my family would make versus trying to make "upscale" recipes... which doesn't make sense in my opinion. Anyway, I love this place. I usually order several things that can last for a couple of days. The food is amazing. And I feel like I never spend that much. The pho I love. It has great flavor and I always order hot chili oil on the side. Typically I also get the egg crepe, a lot of places don't have them and I love them. They're fresh. Great flavor. Wrap it in some lettuce. So good. The spring rolls. I love that they're only $3.... some places are charging like $6-8 for them now. I usually prefer the fish sauce over the peanut but they have really good peanut sauce. And the rice combo plate. I love the egg loaf. I wish I could buy the literal loaf, and also their pork is better than most places in the area. I always want to try new things but love these dishes so much it's typically what I stick to. I'm so glad I tried this place. After two attempts in trying this place, coincidentally on the day they closed, I finally made it. This has moved up to #1 pho spot, in my opinion. I have tried over a dozen. It's very laid back family owned business, more commonly refereed to "hole in the wall". I say that with admiration for them. The taste of their pho with flavorful with depth of flavors. They also have traditional Vietnamese/Asian desserts that are delicious. Can't wait to return and try more items.
