Pho South Corner (at least, that's what the sign says as far as I'm concerned) is a family ran business led by an incredibly nice guy. We typically get the Pho here and their Pho is pretty solid, with large portions, and a well rounded broth. Is it the best in Philly? We haven't tried them all, but as South Jersey-ites, it's pretty good compared to what we have. Would recommend them if you're in the area for sure. What you didn't come here for: - Water: We are sticklers with our water. I don't think the water here was bad bad but there was a tinge to the flavor that made us go for something else - Restrooms: There is a single occupancy restroom. - Accessibility: The restaurant is all on the single floor - Seating: There is a moderate amount of seating that makes me think it'll never fill up, but I suppose it could if there's a special event and people are flooding in. - Will it fill you up? We came here as a group of 8 on New Year's Day for some coffee. It's OPEN and warm. Cute cozy place! While we didn't get to enjoy food here, it has definite authentic vibes with the servers being viet and the sauces at the tables. Some just wanted some coffee and they seemed to like it well enough, "not too sweet" EDIT: Just kidding we ended up getting a number three and bahnmi grilled pork for a total of $25 and change before tipping. And I really hit the spot. Of course the cold outside and my hunger level elevated the taste that much more. I think the flavors here are definitely on point for the pho and the sandwich bread was really good. Sometimes the bread can be too dry or too bland, but not this one. Nothing quite like hot Pho on a cold day, am I right! They also made am adjustment to what I wanted that really hit the spot. They were pretty busy which while great for them also meant that it took forever to finally get the check. I'd go back if I was in Philly though. read more

We ordered 3 vegetarian pho, 2 spring rolls, and 2 rice rolls, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The pho broth was rich and comforting, packed with delicious veggies, and the portions were generous. The spring rolls were crisp and light, and the rice rolls were soft, fresh, and full of flavor. What really surprised us was the price -- our entire bill came out to just $60 for 6 people which is incredibly affordable for the quality and quantity of food we received. The wait was well worth it, but know there is a wait. The Seafood pho was a 7/10 and the Deluxe Pho 9/10. It's not much space to expect a possibility of being crowded. The space is quite quaint. If I'm the area I would eat here, but to willingly come, probably not. read more

A really solid place for pho! My daughter wanted pho and I thought that sounded like a great idea so we found ourselves at Pho South Corner with big bowls of steamy beef brisket pho. The broth was delicious and the service was absolutely accommodating and attentive. My daughter's boyfriend ordered a broken rice dish with beef and loved it. They also split a mango smoothie while I enjoyed wine from the bottle I brought because this nice establishment is a BYOB! We ate our meal and then continued to hang out and enjoy each other's company while our water glasses were still filled. Don't skip this place. I initially discovered this place through DoorDash and I'm so glad that I did! Their tofu Banh Mi is THE BEST. We had dinner here on Sunday night and enjoyed our meal very much! It's a cute space, and you can tell that the staff loves what they do. We ordered the shrimp summer rolls to start, served with a delicious peanut sauce! We also tried the pork bahn mi and the grilled pork over salad. The meat is so tender and flavorful! If you want the meats, just go for the bahn mi or broken rice. The salad was just some lettuce, cucumber, and tomato, and the meat was the real highlight. Solid Vietnamese place not in south Philly. They have a pretty expansive menu, and a bigger plus, they have lots of teas and smoothies. Fairly priced. They do a lot of takeout orders, which is nice because it was pretty empty when we got there around 6 on a Friday, but it did fill in a bit before we left. The man serving us was so genuinely friendly. A sauce ended up spilling on a patron's coat, and he was on his hands and knees wiping it down. I'm Viet and though I would like to support local Viet businesses, I thought the food wasn't great. There are better places nearby on South St and Washington Ave. We ordered pho tai and com tam thit nuong (broken rice with grilled/bbq pork). The ribeye in pho tai is supposed to be served raw and is cooked in the hot soup broth, but it was already cooked through when I got it. The soup broth was pretty oily - I suspect there is a lot of beef fat and additives. Good pho is flavorful without a lot of oil or fat. The com tam was better, but the thit nuong was not as great as other places. It didn't have the smoky bbq flavor you get from grilling the meat; it tasted more like it was cooked in a pan. The service was great though, and the servers were very nice and polite. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. I just wish the food was better. read more

The broth is pretty intensely flavored compared to every pho I've had in the past, makes me wonder whether they're taking some shortcuts, something about it really made me think they're using lemongrass powder instead of real lemongrass.
